Consider rotating the bucket down, like you're dumping a load of gravel, and bring your attack from the top. Place the bucket near the side if the tree or brush and use the grapple to pull the tree/brush into the bucket. Then curl the bucket back up. It may seem counter-intuitive at first but, I think you'll find it works better.
What size hydraulic and for what PSI was it meant for? Asking really want to build something just don't hydraulics work down to paper. I know how they connect and function. I just don't want to buy something I may not be able to use.
Very nice video, you have encouraged me to build my own grapple. Please make more videos on constructing tools that we all need but can't afford.
