Than you for posting... as a Chicagoan I am so sad it was not awarded the project. I guess the Americans are not brave yet to embrace such futuristic airport vision
For a long time now Chicago architecture has been surprisingly insular and disinterested in ideas for architecture from somewhere else in the world especially when those ideas are so clearly superior to anything that might be produced in Chicago. It's irksome for Chicago architects who wield considerable influence in their hometown, but nowhere else. Too many high-profile projects in Chicago have been done by architects from elsewhere in the world. They didn't want to give Foster the win on this one, I suspect.
That’s too big of an expanse for a roof without defined supports. A heavy snowfall will bring that roof down flat! Or at least bend the ceiling enough that those giant panes of glass will shatter.
Probably the best promo video of an airport makeover I will ever see in my life.
Foster gives me goosebumps. His designs are truly spiritual in their design.
"A theatre of aviation" I like that!

@@davidjgill4902 I much agree 🙏🏛
I think the gave the project to Studio Gang which I think looks better in my opinion but say what you will this design is radical and bold
@@portcybertryx222 Its my “opinion” too just like yours

You should be an engineer with all that experience
If you are an engineer, then be ready, the work is there ahead for you to calculate all of that structure and snow load. ahahaha
I think we can assume they anticipated all of that and more.
