Is there a way for the Konrad's cap to have an airtight seal against the body of the pen, similar to TWSBI Diamonds? I let ink sit in my TWSBI Diamond for almost a year, opened it and it still wrote because of the rubber o-ring which forms an air right seal at the end of the TWSBI's threads However the Konrad's performance is my favorite of any pen with its flex and the ebonite feed's flow. I haven't found any o-rings that fit at the end of the Konrad's threads, and I don't want to put silicon gel since it would get all over my fingers when I use the pen.

Hey Nathan, Any chance noodlers makes a sheening ink? Just got a bottle of Organic Studio's Henry David Thoreau - Walden Pond and i like it but im a Noodlers fan.
Hard starting dye formulas with no bonus of permanence in exchange for that....I could also not stand the "shimmering" inks because they could reliably clog a feed VISIBLY with a clear demo feed awfully fast. As I've mentioned before there were prototype "marbleized" inks around 2005, but never went to market (they were mentioned on this channel in one video, but the clogging of the feed as if the Colorado river reaching Hoover damn and depositing sediment in lake mead...was too much and they never went past a handful of prototype bottles). I would much rather have a bi-colored reflective ink that does not rely on pooling as well (if you have to pool the ink for the effect, is it ever good on affordable recycled papers?).....still looking for strong magnetic platinum alloys that can withstand the heat of welding to stainless steel- anyone? MIT reading this? Help...?? Just my $0.02
Wonderful video! I'm thrilled to hear your ink is available in the larger sizes again! How do your eternal and bulletproof inks compare in permanence to so-called document inks?
How much do document inks cost per ounce? I fear I was too frugal to ever buy any to test. ;-) I trust the eternal and bulletproof on pressure treated wood exposed to the sun and ocean 24-7-365/year....has done better than anything else I know of with the exception of cutting marks into the wood physically. Just have to make sure the wood is not salty from the sea when the initial marks are drawn upon it...and as for paper, it can be chemically dissolved with industrial bleach before some of the bulletproof inks become illegible - and only after the cellulose of the paper breaks down to complete mush.
Good to hear from you, sir. Still using your pens and inks to do police work here in West Virginia. Commander of Detectives, now, so the guys know that when the LT gets out the Red Rebel Neponset, somebody's getting charged with something worth working on. It's right here with me, and I am getting ready to do the capstone grant for my career (I am also the department grant writer, and use Heart of Darkness, Apache Sunset, or my favorite, Black Swan in English Roses as my lucky grant-writing inks through the years). Inspired by your wildlife pictures, I just went out on our farm grounds, where our station is in a huge old-school brick farmhouse, and took a walk looking for ideas on how to word this grant, which is to build a wellness and fitness center for county police officers, to include, of course, deputy sheriffs such as myself. And what did I see, sir, but a huge bald eagle, just sailing along in high winds as though it were the easiest thing! A good omen, I believe, for this worthy grant for the heroic individuals with whom I have the honor to serve. I just toppped off with ink, and am going to have at it if God wills. Have a good safe and healthy day, and enjoy that wildlife up there in your neck of the woods, Mike

Have you seen the one's in Texas? I've seen them take down deer on several occasions. It's always an issue with having feeders up that when they go off the coyotes come too to snag a deer. Texas coyotes very in all sizes, but they're pretty big here too. Also, Coyotes are only invasive in the east and western portions of the US. Also, still waiting for the Donald "American Traitor" Trump series of inks.
As much as I like the idea of more ink, I know my clumsy self would put the pen in the ink rather than the ink in the pen. Is that pen also made from biodegradable plastic? If so, how long does it take to fully break down, or at least to a nonusable state?
It has to be buried in compost/soil to get it to actively decompose - and it will take time. Being out in the sun hinders decomposition greatly. It has been around since 1938 and is incredibly durable regarding UV light and having a "give" to resist shock damage and cracking - and is the only manadarin to have survived well from the golden age (unlike the permanite and celluloids). I collected a lot of them from the WW II era when I was a kid - they hold up extremely well to most circumstances. It takes a little bit more effort to get it to decompose. It might be a nasty subject, but these are the pens that generally don't make it when somebody is exhumed and they had one in the pocket back in 1947 or so and were kept damp (think, Louisiana or Mississippi). Can write with "eternal ink", but the pen is not meant to be eternal for eternity.
I have heard that on the east coast they are running into a cross between the coyote and the wolf that is being called a coywolf. This animal is attacking humans, so if that is what you have, it would not surprise me that they can take down a deer.
They are genetically part Eastern Gray Wolf and are sometimes black and/or "salt & pepper" - not the usual coyote colors...larger pack sizes as well. I'm pretty frugal and actually bought my first electronic gps map due to finding myself lost as the sun was setting with howling surrounding me in the forest. That was enough to fork over the $ for a gps map! PBS produced an interesting documentary on what has developed with this hybrid species over the years: th-cam.com/video/brFgzW_kkXE/w-d-xo.html
@@InkNeedLastForever yeah I saw that PBS show. We are having problems with a different predator in Kansas. The mountain lion has made its way back into areas of the state. Some hikers, runners and bicyclists have had some interesting encounters over the last few years.

They are back now. 16 oz is in stock (found some glass that is still part of a functioning economy!) as well as some half gallon and two gallon. If you ask again...they have them now in most ink colors (except exclusives, such as Liberty's Elysium - unless the Goulets wanted to issue one in that color).
Your videos always make me smile, Nathan. I’ll definitely have to pick up a 16oz bottle. Would you be able to do specific line inks? Say a 16oz bottle of USS Texas?
Sure! It's fun to take a custom order like that...once did a 16 oz with a label of a woman's brown chihuahua being pinned to a rug by a very large Maine Coon cat called "Dogs Never Get Respect" (it was a bottle of Walnut). Right now there is the time. Just ask luxury brands and they will organize it - and I'll ship it direct to you.
Piggybacking on this question, is it possible to order a 16oz (or more) of a show exclusive? I am positively loving Baltimore Blue Canyon and it has become my "go to" blue, and feel it will be for quite some time
@@JoshBabin I think that might become a standard ink - though that might depend upon if the economy functions and supplies are not cut short. There is enough material now to make one for you - so just ask Luxury Brands with a copy of what i just wrote.
@@InkNeedLastForever I just want to say, I received a bottle of the Baltimore Blue Canyon from Vanness yesterday and it is an amazing and beautiful ink. It would be wonderful if you were able to make it a standard. Also, thank you for this video. It made me smile.
That was one entertaining video. Always enjoy watching wild life in their surroundings. I love the Antietam ink, one of my favorites. Good use of the weapons used in those eras. When firing the weapons did you use all black powder or did you go smokeless (like using Trailboss)? Thanks for taking the time out to create the video.👍👍👍
If you use 777 or pyrodex....the photography is awful (though the ballistics are better)....I found that the best black powder for photography was made with pine - as it is an inefficient burn and results in a greater visible muzzle blast. In Massachusetts - fireworks are completely illegal....but once you go through the process of obtaining a "license to carry" you have the ability to create de-facto legal fireworks for photographic purposes if you happen to obtain a black powder muzzle loader. The physics of the expanding gasses is absolutely fascinating. Nobody looks or cares about the target... it is the noise, fire, and smoke that is the entertainment. Of course - our ancestors considered that a curse! As soon as smokeless powder was available - they quickly switched.
I may have missed this, and I apologize if I have, but where can I purchase the 32 oz bottles? It appears the Noodlers & Luxury Brands of America websites do not list them. Thanks in advance for your help...
Having difficulty with resupply of those, and just managed to resupply 16 oz by the skin of my teeth. The economy is not functioning anywhere near as well as it was a few months ago.
16 oz are again available in any quantity desired....32 oz, however....are waiting for more of the economy to function again. Now completely out of 32 oz and can't get resupplied at the current time.
Almost every video I comment on recently I act like I'm talking to future people because I watch videos that are 8-10 years old, and just like children in elementary school right now have no idea what 9-11 is until they are taught it by their parents or at school.... They probably won't know about this virus... Which isn't the safest, people forget or aren't taught things... Suffering ensues
I believe the average is $30 (full retail) for 16 oz - some inks cost more, but most inks are in that range. Adjusted for inflation those prices are lower than Carter's and Sheaffer's 16 oz bottles in 1938 :-) There was a Waterman price - that adjusted for inflation was an eyepopping $172 - but that was an older vintage "when the buck was still silver and $20 was a gold piece". If still silver $1 would be about $15 at today's market price ;-( So - in silver it is a $2 bottle if one wanted to pay with 2 ounces. More info than asked for - but I was into vintage inks for many years...and sometimes still want to affirm that the Noodler's price is better than that of the old timers adjusted for inflation!
@@InkNeedLastForever I would like to order the roller eel in 16oz - also what would you charge for a felt tip charlie? Can roller eel go in a felt tip charlie?

Nathan, I really liked your outlook on life, but are you really condoning taking the life of ANY animal with or without a ‘permit’ what right do we have to do that? Only Mother Nature does. It is akin to releasing a dragon of noise and fire. One hopes it is a very cold day and one had to dress in many layers before daring to pull the trigger. It does remove the bull's eye from the target - and I mean...remove the entire bull's eye! ;-)
I emailed Luxury Brands USA today, and they confirmed that the special order option is over. So all we can order are the ones the retailers have. I ordered 16oz bottles of 54th Mass and Bulletproof Black from Vanness (along with a couple of empty Private Reserve ink bottles to use as inkwells).
+InkNeedLastForever Nathan, thanks for making this big bottles available!
Nice looking (Calvary? Looks like it has a lanyard ring on the bottom of the butt) LeMat 10 shot (including the 20 guage shotgun barrel the 9 shot .44 caliber cylinder rotated on.) Is it an original 1860's manufacture, or a reproduction?
Mr. Tardif,
I have just started fountain pens this year and bought some as a birthday gift for myself. I have tried Speedball calligraphy when I was in primary school but haven't caught on for years and your pens are a thing of beauty. I admire it's utilitarian functionality. May I ask is there any way that I can have my retailer order a 4.5oz 54th Mass and a 4.5oz Roller Eel from you at this time?
Wishing you good health from The Philippines,
Clemente Santos V
Always interesting. From me in the U.K. my best wishes and stay safe. Timothy Marshall
Ooooh, Nathan, I must save up some pennies! I have a few 16 oz bottles from before, but this chance to get more is great!
Is there a way for the Konrad's cap to have an airtight seal against the body of the pen, similar to TWSBI Diamonds? I let ink sit in my TWSBI Diamond for almost a year, opened it and it still wrote because of the rubber o-ring which forms an air right seal at the end of the TWSBI's threads
However the Konrad's performance is my favorite of any pen with its flex and the ebonite feed's flow. I haven't found any o-rings that fit at the end of the Konrad's threads, and I don't want to put silicon gel since it would get all over my fingers when I use the pen.
I didn’t know the 32 and 16 ounce bottles were available. I’ve just picked up a 4.5 ounce eyedropper bottle in Australia. Heart of Darkness would be desirable in larger containers from my viewpoint.
I have lived I MA twice in my life. Boston and Nothampton. Last time in Northampton I saw a bear in the middle of town. It is a lush and beautiful state. Thanks for reminding me of that. Recently bought a Triple Tail pen and absolutely love it. Thanks.
Bear sign just showed up here this year in a more meaningful way than ever before.... One also went across the bridge of the Cape Cod Canal and caused quite a stir not too long ago. They make the beekeepers nervous! ;-) blog.mass.gov/greatoutdoors/education/cape-black-bear/
This is unrelated to your video but i wanted to ask if you would ever do a shineing ink like Emerald of Chiovr or what it would take to make such an ink?
Thanks Nathan, your a bit of a pioneer type living off the land. You live in a really nice place. I always ask folks who live out in the wilds. .. does it go dark at night. ? ? ? . I always ask because where I live, Wigan, Lancashire. UK .. It doesn't go dark because of all the street lights and the lights from the motorway ( freeway ) .. sounds a stupid question but I once spent a little time around the Scottish mountains of Kingussie and when I went out at night was stunned by all the stars clearly seen in the heart of darkness of the night sky. .so much so that my friends would go mad at me for just standing there looking at the heavens. .so it must be like that were you are. . The pen, needs to be mounted in a show box as a great survivor. . Great endurance from the pen, ,, I smiled a lot listening to your story, I will be out with the kids in the fields and woods once this plague has gone.
It's a biblical type of scourge that has been released upon us by messing about with nature, that's all I say about that.
Thanks for being interested in the pen community, your the meastro. .keep doing what you do, but mind how you go.
One last thing in my long comments. .. Bonded Inks ? ? ?
Best wishes to all PenPeople. .. be as happy as possible X

Bonded inks were finally being done two days ago. They are the slowest to produce - just take a LOT of time.....but there is more time for them now.
@@InkNeedLastForever G R E A T I hope Pure Pens UK can get them or I'll have to sort something out. Make gallons of the stuff if you can...
Enjoyed your video immensely . Loved the wildlife. 71 now and can't stand for 5 min. anymore. Do more videos !!!! p.s I write with fountain pens all day.Currently 13 inked, refill 4or 5 converters daily sometimes 2x daily
Thank you, Nathan.
I fear I was too frugal to ever buy any to test. ;-)
I trust the eternal and bulletproof on pressure treated wood exposed to the sun and ocean 24-7-365/year....has done better than anything else I know of with the exception of cutting marks into the wood physically.
Bald Eagles...I think I tripped and fell down the first time I saw one here - could not take my eyes off it...overwhelming experience. Congrats!! Great to "hear" from you as well!
@@InkNeedLastForever Thanks, sir,. By the way, thinking of the Neponset pen reminded me of something you might find interesting. I was at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania back in the season, before winter and this shutdown business, and I saw the original restored merry go round from Enna Jettick Park. It's at Hershey Park now, and was restored by the employees, who did wonderful work. It looks great and functions flawlessly. Your great video about the Neponset Pen and airship was the first time I ever heard of Enna Jettick shoes. Have a great day, Mike
I would love to see a video about the Konrad detailing it like the Ahab video details the Ahab.
I'd like to have some of those giganto bottles of ink, but I'll probably never empty even one of my 3 ounce Noodler's inks since I have so many. I currently have Nightshade and Squeteague in two of my pens. Love the history behind the different inks, and the names and labels really add to the fun. I enjoyed the video, and I wish we had some of those fishers in southwest Ohio to take care of the gray squirrels, lol.
Ive had the same bottles of Bad Belted Kingfisher and Turquoise Eel for almost 3 years. Lmfao
@@The177Hunter
I recently got a bottle of Nightshade thinking I only had a sample, but I actually already had a bottle. I'm sure glad I really like it. 🙂
@@chrislj2890 lol, im glad i found samples. I wanted to get a bottle of Operation Overlord for the longest time so i added a sample to some other samples i got off ebay. Glad i did that, turns out i hate the color 🤣. Not all bad news tho, found out i like Midway Blue, Zhivago, North African Violet and Dostoyevsky.👍🏻
@@The177Hunter
I have a bottle of North African Violet, and it is a gorgeous color. But it is the stinkiest stuff I've ever smelled. I actually like the smell of the Noodler's pens, but this stuff makes me gag. I had to dump it out of the pen and wash it with dish soap. My wife suggested I just leave the lid off until the smell went away. She's so cute. 😏
@@chrislj2890 lol, i too like the smell of noodlers pens. Was actually a bit sad my Konrad demonstrator didnt have it.🤣 and ewww, i just smelled my sample, smells like school paint.
What would you say of a Prosopolev ink?
Sadly, the official Commonwealth Pen Show site has announced that the 2020 show has been cancelled due to the pandemic. commonwealthpenshow.com/index.html Stay inked, stay safe.
Always interesting, thank you Nathan!
Thanks for the video. Your videos are always entertaining and informative, even if my wife rolls her eyes at some of them.
I contacted luxury brands maybe 1-2 months ago and they said no more large bottles.
They are back now. 16 oz is in stock (found some glass that is still part of a functioning economy!) as well as some half gallon and two gallon. If you ask again...they have them now in most ink colors (except exclusives, such as Liberty's Elysium - unless the Goulets wanted to issue one in that color).
@@InkNeedLastForever :-) thanks for the answer!!
Love your ink and love your videos.
You put so much into your brand :-)
@@InkNeedLastForever That sounds great, will do. Thanks, Nathan!
@@InkNeedLastForever
Thanks for the reply. ...very informative.
Been making my own ammo since 1986, all smokeless with zero black powder experience.
What is the price of a 16oz bottle of ink?
@@InkNeedLastForever If I order Eel Black do I still get the free roller ball & Charlie pens?
@@CatawbaGuy If you order the "Roller Eel" bottle, you do - yes.
@@InkNeedLastForever I would like to order the roller eel in 16oz - also what would you charge for a felt tip charlie? Can roller eel go in a felt tip charlie?
@@CatawbaGuy If you request it - I'll put a felt tip charlie, american eel charlie, and a charlie....3 pens - with a bottle of 16 oz Roller Eel. The felt tip will work fine with Roller Eel, actually great for marking anything made of cellulose (wood construction materials, paper, cardboard, poster board, etc...).
0ooo Bernanke Red in 16 would be nice 👍
That was made...was it you? Some retailers hate that label, but I still think "debt addiction enabler" is an appropriate description.
Nathan, I really liked your outlook on life, but are you really condoning taking the life of ANY animal with or without a ‘permit’ what right do we have to do that? Only Mother Nature does. We have eliminated predators for our own good, where we have had no right to do so, to blame those left is ignorant in the extreme. I have lost a lot of respect I used to have for you. Please clarify your stance. To kill an animal solely to make you ‘feel better’ is abhorrent.
