I always got the impression that he turned ghoul after Vic’s boys killed that drifter. When he talks about ghoulifying himself on purpose to avoid seeing himself in the mirror, he cites that incident as one of the reasons he couldn’t stand seeing his own reflection. Glad you brought up the Anti-Ghoul Decree year; it’s often thought that he went ghoul 10 years prior to the game due to his introductory dialogue, but that’s when he started sneaking off to Goodneighbor for chems. He’s been a ghoul for 5 years maximum by the start of the game. Glad you guys picked up on that! People usually miss it! As for other facts… His terminal is interesting. Hancock has the second-highest intelligence of the companions and his terminal is where you can see more of that. He’s got intel reports on there. He’s incredibly aware of what’s going on in the Commonwealth, and he sends spies to keep an eye on anything he’s concerned about, like the Gunners and the Brotherhood - which absolutely tracks with the quests he gives the player, and with him being aware of the Railroad. I’m disappointed they didn’t do more with him and his brother in the game for sure. I would have loved more interaction between them. Also he doesn’t have ANY reaction to the fact that the Slog is comprised of ghoul refugees from Diamond City, which feels like another missed opportunity.

I guess if you're always on them you'll get a significant boost 😁 It's hard to pin down his ghoulification year, but they've gotta be pretty close to his Goodneighbor events of course. See, I don’t think the chem he took was that experimental. I think he experimented with it. I believe it’s the same chem we see in the Fallout show that helps them not be feral.
@@LaiPlaysGame it's a connection I was willing to make as well, but there's also the possibility he took the same thing Eddie Winter did to turn ghoul. It'd be interesting if they tied it together.
@lai9986 I agree that it would be nice to connect together. Fallout lore often gets into a "we're just not gonna address that now..." kind of motion. I do believe that Thaddeus though is an FEV Mutant and not a ghoul from Season 1. We'll see what they do with him
