"When you place a pre-order, you automatically agree to our Terms of Service" and inside those Service Terms are the legal words that pretty much say "We can change this whenever we want to, however we want to, and there is nothing you can do about it". According to the courts, you are agreeing to the TOS because you willingly chose to buy this content. They will not side with you. Just so you know, every single game you have purchased on Steam can have it's conditions changed at ANY TIME. Every single one. Steam can just remove the game from your library if these conditions change, and remove it from your account. There is nothing you can do about it, and it's 100% legal. It doesn't matter what country you are in, it won't be protected. Majority of companies don't do it because of this reaction. Still though, it's legal. It's also why it's legal for Blizzard to "remake" Warcraft 3, release it, and completely make the CDs you purchased for WC3 in 2002 almost worthless. All legal.
nah if everyone talks shit about it and no one buys it capitalism will run its course and the company will die on its own. maybe legal action to get people their money back or revert the changes tho?

na, BSG have been doing this since day one, there never should have been editions other than the base, sure people should be able to pay $10 more or what ever to help the developers but every single game package is p2w compared to the last.
@@sl4y3r Main editions were not that bad cause at least you can get the same stuff through the progression. The real stuff that is impossible to grind started to unearth only this year.
@@zorkitipafed4626 they are all still p2w over the base edition, your paying money to get an advantage over other players because your pockets are deeper.
And still a huge amount of hackers. But don't worry, as long as you go to the forums with evidence and complain about the hacker problem, they will ban you claiming there's no hacking problem. Absolute trash tier devs.
And they use the word free as a buzzword too. One thing that really annoys me is when a company says you're getting something for free when you buy something, no, it's included in the price. Something is only ever free of you never have to give them money. "Free access to future DLCs" when you give us 250 dollars. Yeah that isn't free, stop it.
@@crumbopulis My point is you aren't getting "free DLCs", you've paid for them, they say "you're getting free stuff" as a manipulation tactic, to make you feel like you're getting a good deal. It's scummy and I hate it.

It's effectively the same thing, the sad part is they don't really have to care about getting sued because they'll make more money from this then they'll have to pay, such as every illegal thing done by any big company ever.

@@TRDiscordian I really don’t see how that’s really remotely on the same level as $250 ptw content that is unobtainable without spending real money. HD2 only lets you spend $20 maximum on a single purchase, and the game generously hands out the credits. You could realistically get all the credits you need for all warbonds within a few weeks. I don’t even think there’s a timer on the warbonds. As far as everyone understands they last forever. I think their in game currency system is extremely fair. They don’t even go as far as putting that fake “bonus xx credits” when buying a bigger pack, it just has the full amount right there.
@@TRDiscordianwhich are completely free if you just play the game since the „premium“ currency can just be found ingame fairly regularly. So nothing like tarkov or other cashgrab games.
Unfortunately it is common for devs of 2010's and newer ones. Warface was on beta for years, 7DTD is still in fucking alpha. Most of the modern indie devs prefer to release their games under the Early Acess terms.
As someone who has purchased the EOD edition, what frustrates me the most is that the ability to play the game cooperatively offline is going to be locked behind this new edition. This is what I have been waiting for, for a very long time, this feels like a complete kick in the nuts and the fact they have retroactively changed the wording on the storefront is ridiculous.
coop offline was literally the reason my friend and I bought it at the time it was released. he's been gone for years now but this news was what I needed to finally quit.
Asmon didn't even catch the worst parts of it. One of the things it gives you is access to a (currently unimplemented) distress signal item that will ping all people in your friends list and let them join your raid to help you. Remember, this is a extraction shooter, where when you die you're out of the map permanently. With this item, as long as your squad doesn't get fully wiped, you could just pop a distress signal and respawn. Tl;DR The 250$ edition will let squads respawn in an extraction shooter.
I get that the main matter of the subject is the fact that they essentially revoked your previous 150$ purchase that said "you will get all the benefits and this is the highest tier that there will ever be" but what's even more interesting to me is the 250$ package. 250$. To p2w. Truly spectacular, approaching mobile game tier.
Thing so consider here is that I own the old pay to win edition and if I want the new one the upgrade with taxes will cost me €123. Thats crazy, I can buy 2-3 solid games for that money. Thats an absurd amount of money considering I own the previous flagship bundle, crazy.
Yeah the people who justify it should be ousted and called out for their BS, because literally f'ing people out of their funds and continuing to predate on whales and kids with access to their parents' finances has always been awful and should always have been illegal. Fairly sure most of the people who agree with this crap are company plants hired to bully people into submitting to the "norm" when it's always been a grift.
This is a completely unnecessary edition of the game that you can purchase if you support the developers. The "P2W" aspects are a bit overblown, this is a game highly highly reliant on skill. Having a few extra slots in your inventory isn't going to save you from headshots or cause you to inflict headshots. The only thing I have an issue with is them retroactively changing some of the old editions of the game, but in general I think BSG are incredibly game developers and yeah, this isn't a deal breaker for me. I had the EOD edition before, and the upgrade to this new one is $100 and I might go for it. It's not "justified". It just is what it is. You don't need it. If you want it, it's there. It's not going to win you any matches, so the P2W thing seems a bit much to me. But for me this is extremely limited to BSG. I don't buy these expensive packages on other games. I just really fucking love Tarkov. There's nothing else like it, and I think the Devs in general have been amazing.
New bundle is only one problem... A couple of years ago they said that there won't be any pay to win elements in the game (before this new bundle there were some p2w feature, but not so big). Now we have 250$ bundle where you got increased size of pockets, even bigger stash than in eod, additional slot for flea market etc. And in the future update they'll add gadget that will invite players from your friend-list into your raid in the middle of the game 😅
Cyberpunk fans: But the anime was VERY good Edit: the people replied to me... With my exact point..But they changed the "Anime" in my original comment for "3 years later"...that's a bit...ironic...
what makes it even worse, is technically you are paying more money for less content because you get a bigger stash size and you start at level 3 with a couple of stats aswell as a higher rep with all the traders, literally removing the reason to even play the game.
as a tarkov player myself, I never wanted to buy EOD because I like unlocking the epsilon case and stuff. As you said, this takes even more content away from the game
get a bunch of cases too. Which basically invalidates the early game grind for junkbox. They give you a weapon case, so you effectively get two. Its just shit. It affects the economy. It makes the early game shorter for all players. EOD was already P2W with the stash size and the few extra tidbits you got. This is full on wheelchair mode and defeats the integrity of the game.
Oh no, they know. They truly know. They are just feeling real arrogant and were never punished for the sketchy scams they are pulling, so they are becoming audacious. Hell, they might even adore the additional attention it gives them, regardless if its positive or negative. Unfortunately, it's likely they have a way out or connections of some sort and they still will get away with it.
To add some context, the previous (soft) pay2win versions added shortcuts to content any "normal" version player could unlock later and they were soft buffs (mostly out of combat buffs). A lot of this new p2w content is marked as exclusive and directly buffs ingame power from additional ingame slots or even the ability to be ignored (well significantly reduced aggro) from the hostile NPCs. Additionally, the PvE mode has been requested by the community for years, and was advertised as part of the old discontinued $140 premium version EoD, it was now scrapped from EoD and added to this new $250 version instead...
The EOD practice servers are a different thing completely, that part wasn't removed and put into the Unheard edition, EOD players have had access to the pve practice servers for a while now. It was technically never advertised as a full pve version on EOD.
I've played Tarkov since 2017, I bought EOD, I have about 1,000 hours played in the game so I feel like I've gotten my money's worth. With all that being said, this has killed the game to me and the pay to win benefits are absurd. Things like starting at level 3 on your skills and AI not shooting you from 60 meters is actually busted
@@TheOneTrueFett I work full time, am a full time student, have family and friends, and play others games lol 1,000 hours is a ton for me for one game I barely have that on CS and I've been playing that for well over a decade

This is EXTRA insane when you know that the main draw for the vast majority of people who bought the Edge of Darkness version (the now-removed $140 version) WAS the 9 slot secure container (compared to the 4 slot standard edition version). They removed this version of the game and nobody could get the container anymore at all, but it's so obvious in hindsight. They took the far-and-away biggest draw from their (already expensive as hell) previous 'deluxe' edition and locked it behind an even HIGHER paywall because they know it was the main thing that got people to pay before.
Point me to a game that has fixed cheating. They don't exist. People hold Tarkov to such a ridiculous standard, then they give companies like Blizzard, Activision, and Valve a complete pass. I had 1500 raids last wipe, and I saw at most a dozen hackers. I can log into CounterStrike and find one in a half hour. BSG does more to combat hackers than the vast majority of game devs out there. And the other game mechanics? You mean the best gun mechanics in the entire industry? With the most customization? The most indepth *everything*? Tarkov is the best FPS ever made by a huge margin. I'm at the point where I feel like a lot of the hatred is straight up manufactured. I'll agree that they went about this "unheard edition" thing extremely poorly, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I had the EOD edition, and I'll likely spend the $100 and upgrade to this one.

One of their arguments(which I find hilarious) was “it’s a feature and game mode” which is the perfect argument for why it should’ve been in the game since launch
Lvndmark (popular Tarkov streamer) caught live on stream BSG editing the description page for EOD (even though it's already off sale) removing the word "unique" before the 3x3 gamma container so they can add it to the new edition, and removing the example of Tarkov Arena being DLC so people can't use it against them to say the new Co-op PVE mode (something people have asked for, for years) should be considered DLC. Edit: didn't see this was shown in the last couple seconds of the video, that's my mistake. Also they won't add the Co-op mode as a separate purchasable because it'll be considered DLC and they'd have to give it to EOD players. Their community manager on their discord stated it's not DLC because it's a "feature of the new edition".
Star citizen literally sold ships at 1k ( I originally said 10k, my bad, thats actually incorrect), and they sold out in seconds. Not anywhere near the same lmao, but the sheer disrespect to say 'Yep buy this for access to all DLC' then deciding to retroactively go back on that because you want more money is way more detestable.

I saw the thumbnail and thought "Oh maybe they're including a real gun in the collectors edition" so I thought we would have a different kind of controversy for once
When greed is more important than good reputation and higher player base (which in return, brings more money). I was gifted this game by a friend who was passionate about the game, but the constant news about this game's direction put me off so much, that even my friend agrees with how ridiculous the developers are and has now since stopped playing a game he used to absolutely love and nolife over.
They pretend they do not understand what "downloadable content" is. Any game feature is a part of game content. Sure, they have to run single-player on their own servers to prevent 95% of piracy. To pay for this they should have sold SP separately for $20 - 30, having apologised and explained to EOD owners that this is the only feasible way to have SP developed and running. The rest of the content is content, DLC is DLC. Thus, must be included into EOD. For many customers, the main selling point for an expensive $150 EOD version back in 2016 - 2020 was that it includes all future content (downloadable one). It was a lot of money in 2016 to take from life and family and invest in the future. This is like construction workers charging you extreme amount for a bathroom renovation and you agree to make a deal because they include 10-year warranty. In 5 years they ask for extra unheard money because the warranty "does not cover electric wiring because this is a bathroom and not an electric power-station and they did not mean it was included".
The funny thing is that there's a *free* mod for Tarkov that basically let you do the same single-player thing just without the CO-OP called "SPT", it have significantly less loading time since you're hosting the server on your own machine and an active modder community who are capable of overhauling the entire lighting system, AI and gameplay. All for free, given that you have the base game first of course.
As someone who relatively recently got into the game, and who grinded for around a full WEEK just to get a secure container with 8 slots (still not as good as the 9 slot one that comes with this version) It feels ridiculous to just see them lean even more heavily into the PTW insanity. New players ALREADY have such a miserable time trying to get their feet under them in Tarkov, and now they also have to deal with whales who start with class 4 armor (basically impenetrable early game) and much stronger weapons, not to mention enough cash to buy even STRONGER gear from the traders (who also have more of their wares unlocked right away). Unbelievably greedy ass company with no respect for anyone who isn't A) a feral degen to grind all this out or B) someone with $250 to spend on a game.
Takes literally a few days of playing the game to reach level 15, unlock the flea, and have access to everything you're complaining about. If you know what you're doing you can grind it out in an afternoon. This game is indeed designed for feral degens. Not every game has to be designed for casuals. I mean, I'm assuming most Asmon viewers played or are aware of World of Warcrafts downfall? I'd argue one of the reasons it fell from grace is that it attempted to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible. It watered the game down over the years. Escape from Tarkov, you either love it or you hate it. It's not designed for everyone. And that's what makes those of us who love it care so much about it and respect the devs like we do. It's not Pay to "Win". Extra inventory slots aren't getting you any headshots man. They're not saving you from headshots either. I bought the base game back in like 2018, then upgraded to the 80$ edition, but since I bought the game for $40 the upgrade was another $40. I did that a few times, and I have the Edge of Darkness edition now, which would cost a new player $140. But I didn't drop $140 in one go. I spent that over three years of enjoying the hell out of a game. If you ever played WoW, you spent a hell of a lot more money on your subscription fees than I have on Tarkov-- and yes, they add fairly consistent and significant content to the game. Call it copium all you want, I've been gaming for 30 years and Tarkov is something special.
The game isn’t pay to win at all, just because your bad doesn’t mean you have to blame it on eod players, eod simply provides quality of life it’s not pay to win. Plus the game can’t even be pay to win because you can’t win it
@@DefianceOrDeath Tarkov has been a super unique and fun experience for me for sure. But this is insane cope. "Pay to win" doesn't mean you pay more and are guaranteed to win, obviously. It means you pay more for a GREATER chance at winning than your opponent. Starting a wipe with 40+ pen value ammunition and class 4 armor (for $250) will absolutely give you a gigantic advantage against players with 30 pen ammo and PACAs. Sure, you can always just hit a headshot on anyone and win every time, but that is an obvious cop out. Yeah, a CS:GO player with a deagle can beat a player with an AWP or rifle with their deagle, but they're still at a disadvantage. I'm NOT asking for the game to be designed for casuals, or for it to expand its playerbase. I'm pointing out that it is extremely PTW, and that adding MORE PTW insanity will only narrow its playerbase further and reduce dependency on player skill for the early game.
@@vybez3078 I don't think you have any understanding of what PTW means. It doesn't mean you pay to literally win, but that you pay for a tangible advantage. Not once did I 'blame me losing on EOD players'. More expensive editions provide better starting equipment and more secure container space. These are tangible advantages that give you an edge in both combat and other aspects of the game. Just because you can't "win" tarkov doesn't mean you can't have success-- if you kill another player, you 'won' the gunfight, etc.
@DefianceOrDeath yeah yeah yeah. The argument can be made about the p2w aspect of some things. BUT the EOD package PROMISED that all future DLC would be free. The pve coop mode is 100% dlc. They lied, they scammed, this is a rugpull. It's absolutely illegal. They even went back and changed their web page to cover their tracks. It's not about the money.
Biggest "micro"transaction i've ever seen was for WW3 the game. In closed beta they were selling special edition for 1 000 000. Yes, a million. And they reason for it was that it included role in a planned movie. That movie will most likely never exist because of all the issues with the game that included incopetent devs and greedy publishers. Now the game has new owners but it most likely won't see big improvement.
I bought the game when it was still new-ish, just the basic edition and never got into it tried it a few years after and it just felt like i either need to dedicate my life to this game or buy a different edition to have some type of progress Happy to see it stayed the same
There is no reason to play it anyways. I was among those who bought the EOD package in 2017 because I saw the potential, only to watch it descend into insanity. It’s been a year and some change since “the wiggle that killed Tarkov” came out, exposing the amount of hackers in game. The hackers, that they allow in fact, because how they make money is by allowing hackers to buy the game, boost an account to max level, sell it, and then they do a ban wave so that the hackers are still making a profit, and buying more accounts, or by simply making the bans so infrequent that the cheat makers still make a profit off selling hacks.
Really doubt that they´re not going to include everything promised for the people who already bought that pass. They have just increased the pricing of it for any future customers thinking about getting it. Granted to an insane price lol but it´s not like they´re not allowed or can be sued for it.
They seriously could have considered a 5 dollar a month subscription model, add seasons which each wipe, unlock cosmetic gizmo's for your gear that don't break immersion. Unlock extra things doing quests so people are stimulated to play more and longer. Essentially the same game, but now with seasonal favor for a subscription. Nothing pay to win. With the subscription you'd get the 3x3 box, without it you gotta work your way to the 2x4. Every streamer would love to pay for it, more so the hardcore players. Why not support them. They would pay 60 bucks every year total, for 'fluff'. This would be 240 with 4 years of play.

Halo wars 2 did a similar thing btw with the 'we didn't mean ALL dlc when we said all dlc' nonsense. Their season pass gave access to 'future campaign DLC', and then they released an entire dlc campaign and said 'oh, we didn't mean this dlc', they released like a small 1-3 mission 'mini campaign' and made that free instead, and said you now have to buy the full campaign DLC.

Never redo wipes for offline progression only. Classic branch will have wipes as usual. Wipes are a good thing, the games dies otherwise. Best tarkov moments are always first weeks of wipe.

Tbh this game's monetization had red flags since the beginning. For example in the EU it's mandatory to show prives with taxes included, but they don't, and you can manually select your country to avoid paying taxes (highly illegal). Not to mention the EOD edition was already p2w

Honestly it should be seen as a calculated move when companies do this. They've known for years that most gamers don't want to just throw money at the devs to win. And that means most gamers are no longer their target demographic, because there are enough whales out there to throw money at the devs to win (or even for the *chance* to win) and keep generating rising profits every quarter for shareholders. No way! Who would've expected this from a former free to play, pay to win browser game developer?

Something is only ever free of you never have to give them money. "Free access to future DLCs" when you give us 250 dollars. Yeah that isn't free, stop it.
When we gave them 150 for eod 9 years ago, that was the idea.

I really don’t see how that’s really remotely on the same level as $250 ptw content that is unobtainable without spending real money.

They removed this version of the game and nobody could get the container anymore at all, but it's so obvious in hindsight.

All for free, given that you have the base game first of course.
look up MPT and SIT

Bro hasn't even seen the tulip vending scene in the olde days pff
Sports gamers exist to be ripped off.
i stopped playing this game like 3 years ago because i hate the wipes. having to do all that shit all over is annoying. hearing this? yea ill pass
does this game take long to play?
i started playing spt, more fun
@yggreuyri5822 what do you mean does it take long? To find a raid? Or play the raid? Often I would spend more time preparing for the raid in the menus than in the raid.
hey for 250$ you can save ur offline mode and never re-do wipe! only 250$$$ !!!!
Never redo wipes for offline progression only. Classic branch will have wipes as usual. Wipes are a good thing, the games dies otherwise. Best tarkov moments are always first weeks of wipe.
Taking the star citizen route I see
Honestly players should march together and file and proper lawsuit againts this company to give them an example. The reason why companies like this abuse their players is because they are all just complaining but nobody is really taking any action.
I believe this is called bait and switch , and is VERY illegal. Activision been doing for years on CoD and getting away with it. Money rules all.
They're the only successful milsim extraction shooter and they're actively shooting themselves in the face with these insane changes.
Not for long. I only played Tarky for about six months last year, they deserve to fade into obscurity with the shit they've pulled.
Self applied Head, Eyes
After many years, the spring/summer wipe of 2023 was my last. There's just to many hackers. It is a shame about my eod edition though, not surprised they fucked me lol
and people will still play and ppl who said they'll quit will come back in 6 months rinse and repeat the cycle continues

They are probably going to grandfather in those that already bought it to include the "gold card". Just those purchasing it going forward won't get it.
If they don't do this then the company is beyond help.
You can silently change your option from click ok to install to cancel
The most funny things is that all enemy AI will ignore you if you equip the device from the $250 version. “Realistic and hardcore”
I'm reminded of a game called Steel Battalion that came with a $200 bundle that included a full mech controller with levers, pedals, and a joystick with 40-plus buttons-or you could get this piece of junk. How times have changed.
That Steel Battalion controller was amazing. A shame it never saw use beyond that lone title.
The start up sequence on that game bonkers with all the switch flips and button presses, but beyond that gameplay just wasn't very fun.
Tbh this game's monetization had red flags since the beginning. For example in the EU it's mandatory to show prives with taxes included, but they don't, and you can manually select your country to avoid paying taxes (highly illegal). Not to mention the EOD edition was already p2w
The price tag jump scared him.
This was one of the few times where the person spamming in chat actually backed up what they were saying 😂
still cant believe people are playing this game knowing that every lobby they queue into has at least 1 cheater
in my last 50 raids i've only died about 4 or 5 times, havent seen so few hackers in ages
@@Hoplasa dont die from your overdose of copium
Yeah, its unplayable due to hackers.
@@tenchu3770 how is me saying some facts being "copium"? you slow or just stupid? i honostly would like to hear your flawed thinking
@@tenchu3770 getting ATLEAST 8 win streaks every time i die with a max. up to 15 surivals in a row, where's the copium my guy , i presented facts and my thoughts about it, but you keep staying mad at the world buddy ... it suits you
this is like Netflix saying is ok to share with family until it isn't
I guess you could say it's
Unheard of
This must be where Kotick went after activision lol
Honestly it should be seen as a calculated move when companies do this. They've known for years that most gamers don't want to just throw money at the devs to win. And that means most gamers are no longer their target demographic, because there are enough whales out there to throw money at the devs to win (or even for the *chance* to win) and keep generating rising profits every quarter for shareholders. Say it out loud and as often as possible: these companies are actively burning their customers' interests and long-term loyalty for the sake of pleasing shareholders in the short term.
Some lawyer out there is going to have the easiest case of his life, and expensive champagne after
Stuff like this and all the agendas are why I've been visiting older games I haven't played yet as of late
Bro getting the EOD edition was a mistake…
Not really... us EOD owners got GAMMA container for $150... if you want GAMMA now you have to buy Unheard and pay $250.
The game is still exactly the same for EOD.
A lot of people I know personally are pissed. This is a big jump for the company, being really particular and items and "found in raid" and their flea market changes, players were already struggling to get ahead or have a big break. But this is a huge kick in the ass to the playerbase.
How in this one area of the private sector, some companies can re-write already signed and agreed-to contracts legally and without and ramification is simply beyond my capability of understanding.
Because this is the one area of the private sector that doesn't have major lawsuits to set precedent. That needs to change.
And this is why I will forever stick with the spt mod, I ain't paying to plaply singleplayer when I can just do that for free
Can you believe all this started from horse armor?
It all started from people saying microtransactions aren't a problem because you don't have to buy them, the slippery slope is real
The actual patient zero of all of this is the MapleStory cash shop.
@@MK_ULTRA420| Apparently I dodged a bullet by playing MS1 but never spending money on the game. _(Same deal with MS2, for good measure.)_
@@RaceBandit You dodged a tank shell 👍
Textbook exit strategy. Player numbers may be really bad and they're getting one last check.
I bought the full edition 6 years ago and recently I got hacked and my account got banned. 0 help from left devs. I'll never support them again.
this is actual theft lmao
I had bought the Edge of Darkness edition but I play the single player mod way more lol
