Database Migration SQL 2005 to SQL 2008

I'm new to sql sever but why would you not take a backup and restore? Would that not prevent the need for downtime? i.e stopping the service

Great tut there :-) @goku2goten Made easy especially when migrating the db from one server to another.... In this case, you actually do not need to stop the service.
