Maybe I'm just projecting but the way I interpreted this was someone with severe childhood trauma looking back at the "good moments" like the simple sandwiches and the Sunday morning cartoons and the paper puppets, but ultimately their trauma and depression and feeling that the only good parts of their life were those little bits in childhood leads them to the thing like murder but to yourself (I'm so sorry that sounds so immature, I just don't want my comment to get censored :( ) and when they meet the larger dragon at 2:30ish that dragon is actually the idealized version of a safe home or parent. That's why the larger dragon isn't as detailed and may not even have color, because they're what the victim's mind created when they thought of a safe home life and safe parents. Something they've never truly known before. So it appears as very abstract or minimalistic

it is a real thing, kittens will contract it and will grow weaker and weaker until they die. no cause, no cure.
