เพลงประจำมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ เพลงแรกคือ “มอญดูดาว” เป็นเพลงที่ขุนวิจิตรมาตรา (สง่า กาญจนาคพันธุ์) นำทำนองมอญดูดาว 2 ชั้น มาแต่งเนื้อร้องให้เป็นเพลงประจำมหาวิทยาลัย
เป็นเพลงที่บันทึกประวัติศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ในยุคแรกเริ่ม ซึ่งได้ทำการบันทึกปรัชญา สัญลักษณ์ ความมุ่งหมาย ตัวตน และจิตวิญญาณของธรรมศาสตร์ อันเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยที่ก่อกำเนิดขึ้นมาในฐานะสถาบันการศึกษาชั้นสูงควบคู่มากับการเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครอง พ.ศ. 2475 ควบคู่กับบรรยากาศแห่งความพยายามที่จะสร้างระบอบการปกครองแบบประชาธิปไตย
นอกจกานี้ก็ยังนิยามว่า เพลง “มอญดูดาว” เป็น “เพลงประจํามหาวิทยาลัย” ที่กล่าวถึงตัวตนความเป็นธรรมศาสตร์ ว่านี่คือสถาบันการศึกษาที่หมายชูประเทศชาติ เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยที่ถือกำเนิดขึ้นเพื่อสร้างคนที่มีธรรมะและเลือดรักชาติ เป็นคนรุ่นใหม่ในยุคแห่งการเมืองในระบอบใหม่ที่จะนำพาชาติไปสู่ความเจริญ
