Nice to see the local farmer is keeping up the old English farming tradition of dumping crap everywhere. Makes you proud.

RAF runways are measured in MILES not foreign measurements

Yes, indeed - the quality of the building back then, if only.....
Bit of care and maintenance would have done wonders for the essential fabric of the place.

It's a shame to see these places going to wreck and ruin

All I can remember. in the mid 1960's a company called Javan plant were selling crushed concrete by the lorry load. We had some delivered to the farm at Weston where I lived at the time. It was used as flooring for a crew yard for cattle and repairs to farm roads. I was about 12 at the time

It's a very small world we live in Robert as I lived in the cottage at the side of the church at Weston from 1991-1996.

The accident, crash rate is quite normal as it was a training school that used the airfield, second world war training schools were all over the UK in the forties, i worked on many RAF bases that have a disused airfield from the war, lincolnshire has many disused airfields however you can never gain access to them.
Good video by the way Trevor, only stumbled across your channel this morning !

Trevor, would love to get a look around the MT office alongside the MT sheds . Square brick buildings at the start -ish are Pyro stores, two compartments holding pyrotechnics such as flares. The long Nissen huts (mistakenly described as WAAF accommodation) are actually Fusing huts. That small dispersal shelter with the triangular apex are few and far between but are around at other locations.

Thank you for the tour. Just goes to show the amount of money involved in setting up one airfield at that time. Clearly prone to flooding.
