Hey guys! Thanks for watching the new video! I hope you enjoy this new lesson about the Letter Y! Just one more left now, the letter Z coming up next! Have a nice day everyone!
Thank you very much for your effort to bring standard English pronunciation to everyone. I really appreciate that, and I've enjoy a lot your lesson!!! Keep go forward James!😊
Was up to my English-English teacher. I'm an immigrant to the USA but I have decided to learn the UK english and speak here in America like a british ... bloody yeah !!
I can't thank you enough for the another fabulous lesson. I have learnt lots of new and novel ideas from this lesson. Every single lesson of yours brings new nuggets of information to me. The subtle nuances of pronunciation of the letter y have been clearly articulated. Many mischievous students are always using various ploys in the exam hall. Cheers ❤
I first saw this video very accidentally many months ago while I was away in Trincomalee with my family spending a holiday. Since then I have continuously been following this lesson on pronunciation. I have immensely benefited from it. Not only have I learnt a lot about pronunciation of English words/sentences, but also I have practiced a lot in terms of listening, grammar, sentence patterns etc. Absolutely useful series of lessons. Please begin a new series of lessons for the benefit of the language learners after you have finished the episodes about the English alphabet. Thanks very much!!!

Thank you James ! Very clear and practical. Was wondering how to pronounce the word "kyverno" (IT product). And I often hear both : "/I/" and /aɪ/ Given your great lesson, I would say that it should be pronounced "/I/" (between consonants)
Hi, great video, this can really help us non native speakers learn how to pronounce y 😀, but does that mean tyson or dyson are exceptions because they're names?
Great video James!! Thank you I was hoping to see the word “YOU” in one of the examples. Nonetheless, I guess it’s pronounced as the 8th way: this is, similar to “yesterday” or “yellow”. Is this right?
Hello! I am Bulgarian, and I am studying English at the moment. And I have to show you one your missing sound of the letter Y. In Bulgarian, we have got special letter ь but that sound is very very rare and this is the latest used letter in Bulgaria! I know only one English word with this sound - canyon. This letter stays only in front of letter o and makes the o sound soft. One example: Гол - [Gow] - goal Гьол - [G(soft sound)ow] - Water hole Do you understand me? 🤔
Lili😊
The word "Ploy" means a cunning plan or action designed to turn a situation to one’s own advantage. For instance: You know that this is a ploy to make her give up of her strategy.
Hey, my favourite sir, the H letter video link is not present in your description. Did you make the video or did you just forget to mention it in the description?
Hi. You said in this video that when the letter "y" is at the end of a long word it has a /i:/ sound, but I want to know why the letter "y" is pronounced /ai/ in lullaby and it is not pronounced /i:/ as in family.
A "ploy" refers to a cunning tactic or strategy used to achieve a specific purpose, often employed to deceive or manipulate. someone. Here are five examples : 1. **Business**: Offering a steep discount right before the end of a quarter is a ploy to boost sales figures. 2. **Relationships**: Feigning illness to avoid attending an event could be seen as a ploy to avoid an uncomfortable situation. 3. **Sports**: A fake injury during a game might be a ploy to stop the game's momentum or gain an advantage. 4. **Politics**: Using misleading statistics in a speech could be a ploy to sway public opinion on a particular issue. 5. **Writing**: The use of a cliffhanger at the end of a chapter is a ploy to keep readers engaged and eager to continue reading.
Hi James, Excellent lesson! Make sure the word Turkey does not exist anymore. Instead, Turkiye has been placed by turkish parliament. Thanks, millions,
Dear sir,"ploy"is a noun and it means "a slightly dishonest method used to try to achieve something".e.g. the phone call was just a ploy to get rid of her.
