Hi Tom, love your videos, so refreshing to have someone explain the ins and outs of these machines, I have found here in New Zealand it appears to be some sort of closed shop. Asking the local supplier for information or even getting spares (even a set of brushes) over the counter is nigh impossible, however the supplier is happy to pick up the machine for repair thus adding to the cost of what could often be a handyman fix. Tom love watching you at work and now I have a machine that's just broken down old Shoprider Delux, I will have a look myself as not too much lifting involved. Was juddering before it stopped but was told new brushes were fitted so wondering if it's not been cleaned out and may be full of carbon dust or wonder if he's fitted the wrong grade of carbon brush?. Will soon find out.

I can’t go outside to check my garden to water my garden and before all that happened the whole arm meeting, it went forward. It went backwards. I couldn’t tighten it up. I couldn’t loosen it up. It was just loose like a loose tooth and then that happened
Do you ever encounter a scooter complaint where the throttle is the issue? I had somone that said that the scooter would not stop and kept going. I checked the throttle and nothing was binding! This is on a Pride Victory 10 model. The rental customer swears that it would not stop. I tested everything. There are no fault codes. Inside the tiller there is a plate that seperates the harness from the throttle and that checked out good. I am thinking the guest is not telling me something and trying to blame the scooter as the fault. Unless you can share something that I don't know?
Can you share where you purchased just the brake assembly? Everywhere I look only sells the motor/break assembly together. Here's my scooter. Brake Assembly for the Golden Companion I & II (GC240, GC340, & GC440)
Ordered Zipr mobility scooter from Zipr company in state of Washington. Received it in reasonable time. After a half block of travel it locked up. Have chased entire electrical system from front to back; all electrical work is normal, except cannot get the transaxle portion to activate. Suspect that it may be micro switch on the brake system, or more. Trying to order and replace the micro switch to see if that will make a difference. Have you any suggestions of what might be the problem, and how do I pursue it? I have tried multiple times to get assistance from the Zipr company and cannot communicate with them other than through email--"unsatisfactory".

What a very informative video. I have a Invacare Comet 4W with a similar fault. Not hearing the relay operating when attempting to drive off. Will check the function tomorrow and if the brake micro switch is faulty is it possible to replace only the micro switch and do you sell this type please?
Hi Tom, Thank you for your reply please can I ask another question regarding Invacare 4W? I checked the continuity of the micro switch and reading 30 ohms. Relay in the box doesn’t operate when attempting to drive forward/reverse and the brake remains on. Any advise would be very much appreciated please. Regards, Brian

Good video this. My mother has a mobility scooter and I need to learn what to look for if something goes wrong. She wants me to have a look at it to make sure it's working OK because they are going on a cruise in march, but the scooter does work ok. @@tomjacques4 there is power, full charge on the cell, but i think the battery has been overcharged I.e left on charge. The power comes on, then the indicator lights drop when I press the forward lever, do i switch off and on and its back to normal to repeat what i just described. It's a pathfinder scooter.....
I ran over something and my scooter will take a full charge go two blocks then starts to act like it's out of charge so the only way it will go is two go backwards stop and go forward very slowly I need help
Would need an engineer my friend sounds odd. Could be the throttle pot out if centre. But that would not have been caused by hitting something. So sounds odd.

Just watched one of your videos because I have a problem,my kymco geo8 I was on way home a d it started to slowdown rapidly. It went to a crawl then stopped. Operated the lever to put it into freewheeling as I was on a downward slope and it wouldn't move. Operated the lever on and off,still on luck. I had to call my wife to help struggle to push it home. Batteries fully charged and not yet 1 year old.please can you guide to a possible fault.

@@MrLalla2020 That metal block old style charger is probably higher output than the cheap plastic laptop charger type. Better for charging large capacity batteries quickly.

Check the connection from the back section to the front could be worn. Or slack also check the wires too and from the connections to the motor and brake
Usually it’s the same as a car. Maybe the tyre is that flat that the tube has moved internally. If us can’t get access you will need to dismantle it and refit it.

Hi all, Pride Colt Persuit 5 hours on the clock working perfectly charged the batteries and put it away in my dry greenhouse, came to use it after two months ( nothing ) fitted brand new batteries switched it on no screen no noises nothing, at the charging point there is 25.3volts, at the ignition switch there is 17v, the 6 fuses are all fine, but when you remove the 10a top battery fuse and put it back in there is a momentary squeak sound and a spark as the fuse goes in. The key switch is working, the circuit breaker is in the in position, and the middle No 1 connector plug is fully home. 🤔🤥🤷🏼♂️ any ideas.

I even powered up the motor with a power supply and everything seems to be working fine. I think it might be the Scooter Controller but unsure if I should spend the £100 to replace it. Yep you sure can but not worth the hassle you will only make a little difference as the axle is paired with the motor as well as the on board controller is with the motor.

Hello. My shoprider traveso mobility scooter won't move but i can hear the motor running and speeding up but the scooter will not move forwards or backwards. I've put 2 brand new batteries on it fully charged them but like i say i can hear the motor speeding up but the scooter will not move. Sometimes it will move forwards and backwards but then stop's and i can still hear the motor building up speed. What is or could the problem be ?
No. Could it be that the bar's in the wheel missing that could be the problem. And i have a problem with my TGA BREEZE S3 Scooter that won't switch on, i have put 2 new fuse's on a 15 amp and a 60 amp but still the digital screen won't come on. There's charge in the battery's, and I have tried the charging socket with my electric meter and it come's up 53 to 54. What could that problem be please. Many Thank's kev
@@tomjacques4 the two woodruff key's i.e the bar's are missing mate. i have some replacement one's being delivered. So the woodruff key's would i take it stop the scooter from moving then ? i've tightened the bolt's up on the wheel and when i press the forward lever the bolt's end up coming loose and then just end up spinning around and therefore the scooter won't move at all but the but i can hear the motor turning. Hi, I’ve borrowed a friends scooter several times over the years and it’s supposed to have had a new battery last year. I’ve had it on charge and tested it and it’s showing 24v. However when you switch on the ignition all the lights light up, go off and then all the lights including the power light just keep flashing. It’s happened before but it has cured itself but it’s not doing now. I’ve checked the contacts and sprayed everything with contact cleaner. It’s a ugo light scooter. Any ideas please? Regards, Jon.
Purchased a used Pride GoGo scooter, seems to be in decent used condition. Scooter runs as supposed to when lever in Drive position. I do notice that when the lever is in Drive, you can manually push it as when you have it in the Neutral position. The brake does not engage when in Drive and stationary, or when the scooter is off and in Drive. Is there an adjustment possible?
My wife's scooter keeps going slow even when it's fully charged, the last time it was used it was working fine but only 4 days later it was moving really lowly, I removed the brake to see if it was binding but it made no difference, do you have any idea to what could be causing it?
I've got a drive envoy 8 Mobility scooter. When I went out the last few times, after a few miles it slows and the brake sticks on, even if you put it into free wheel. Any idea what this might be. Thanks in advance
And all I did to it was plugged my phone charger into the steering column I unplugged the steering column and plugged it from the steering column and then the next one no one outside to go turn it on it wouldn't come on
Ive got a similar issue with my mothers scooter. Everything seems to work as it should. Parked up next day wouldn’t move beeps in reverse just won’t move. But if you push it while pushing forward it moves slowly as if the motor is going slow or being stopped by the break. Checked the battery and all good so maybe it’s this brake! Hello Tom: My go go elite scooter moves well forward and reverse. The charge is full but when I start it makes a continuous beep , just one, like (beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep) (no beeping beep beep beep) and never stop
read the manual it will tell you what each beeping means, if you dont have the manual google the model number of your scooter and find the manual online
Parts for transaxle are not available from the manufacturer. Bin motor and axle or if your hands on dismantle axle and get seal from 3rd party supplier

Yep it’s always best to buy local, may be a little more expensive but after sales service would be better.

Brushes are installed inside the motor. What makes you think you need new ones

When was it last used check voltage etc all the way to the ignition

Check all connections do continuity on motor and brake

There's charge in the battery's, and I have tried the charging socket with my electric meter and it come's up 53 to 54. What could that problem be please. Many Thank's kev

@@kevzee oh the motor is spinning and the woodruff keys are in place then check the motor coupling between motor and axle
@@tomjacques4 the two woodruff key's i.e the bar's are missing mate. i have some replacement one's being delivered. So the woodruff key's would i take it stop the scooter from moving then ? i've tightened the bolt's up on the wheel and when i press the forward lever the bolt's end up coming loose and then just end up spinning around and therefore the scooter won't move at all but the but i can hear the motor turning. Hi, I’ve borrowed a friends scooter several times over the years and it’s supposed to have had a new battery last year. I’ve had it on charge and tested it and it’s showing 24v. However when you switch on the ignition all the lights light up, go off and then all the lights including the power light just keep flashing. It’s happened before but it has cured itself but it’s not doing now. I’ve checked the contacts and sprayed everything with contact cleaner. It’s a ugo light scooter. Any ideas please?

Purchased a used Pride GoGo scooter, seems to be in decent used condition. Scooter runs as supposed to when lever in Drive position. I do notice that when the lever is in Drive, you can manually push it as when you have it in the Neutral position. The brake does not engage when in Drive and stationary, or when the scooter is off and in Drive. Is there an adjustment possible?

My wife's scooter keeps going slow even when it's fully charged, the last time it was used it was working fine but only 4 days later it was moving really lowly, I removed the brake to see if it was binding but it made no difference, do you have any idea to what could be causing it?
I've got a drive envoy 8 Mobility scooter. When I went out the last few times, after a few miles it slows and the brake sticks on, even if you put it into free wheel. Any idea what this might be. Thanks in advance

And all I did to it was plugged my phone charger into the steering column I unplugged the steering column and plugged it from the steering column and then the next one no one outside to go turn it on it wouldn't come on
Ive got a similar issue with my mothers scooter. Everything seems to work as it should. Parked up next day wouldn’t move beeps in reverse just won’t move.
But if you push it while pushing forward it moves slowly as if the motor is going slow or being stopped by the break.
Checked the battery and all good so maybe it’s this brake! I’ll have a look at this later thanks for the informative video
When I put my ZT4 Mobility scooter on charge the charger pack lead box is on green and when I turn the scooter on it’s not powering up please can you help me

Thank you for your videos, i hope you can help i changed a controller on my prism scooter now the controls are in reverse i press forward and the scooter goes backward and visa versa have i done the wiring wrong ?
I presume the new controller was not of an identical scooter.

My Scooter will not charge. Have blinking orange light. Shop said it was either my batteries or charger. Installed new Batteries and light started blinking again with No charger attached.???? Any suggetions

Hello Tom: My go go elite scooter moves well forward and reverse. The charge is full but when I start it makes a continuous beep , just one, like (beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep) (no beeping beep beep beep) and never stop
read the manual it will tell you what each beeping means, if you dont have the manual google the model number of your scooter and find the manual online

Parts for transaxle are not available from the manufacturer. Bin motor and axle or if your hands on dismantle axle and get seal from 3rd party supplier

My scooter does the same thing only it doesn’t click. Nothing happens when you give it the leverage to go forward or backwards. It just doesn’t go. I’m stuck in. I’m stuck in the house. I can’t go outside to check my garden to water my garden and before all that happened the whole arm meeting, it went forward. It went backwards. I couldn’t tighten it up. I couldn’t loosen it up. It was just loose like a loose tooth and then that happened
