I'm on that email list and the emails asking for donations were INCESSANT. Often multiple times a day. My favorite part of them was saying that your donation would be matched - up to 1,000 percent - but it never said by whom.
Their new tactic is asking you to do a task - fill out a survey, sign his birthday card, etc. - but you can't submit it without giving them money.
Ugh. Gross. That whole family makes me cringe

@@Ex_squeeze_me I filled out a White House survey towards the beginning of 45's presidency and it got me onto the mailing list. I decided to stay on so I could stay informed of what is sent to his supporters. It's....a lot, but I just don't open the emails if I get overwhelmed.
Interesting variation on the old Hari Krishna "give a trinket, ask for donation, get a bigger one" psychological trick. This one exploits the "sunk cost" fallacy or the "gambler's" fallacy, that being the tendency to want to continue to do something, even though it's a bad idea, because you don't want to "waste" the effort you've already put into it. So gamblers chase their losses and lose more, people in abusive relationships keep going back without any significant change because "they have history" (lots of other factors at work in those situations, too), and 45 gets you to pay some bucks to submit that survey you just spent time filling out.
The trick is remembering that past bad decisions can't be undone by continuing to make the same bad decision. Whatever you put into a bad-faith situation is already gone, and you're never getting it back. Grieve, move on.

I responded to a Facebook ad for the RNC to complete a survey and ever since I got text messages from it. They were so pathetic, so numerous and so relentless that I didn't want to stop them. I watched with morbid fascination as my phone dinged up to 30 times a day. Begging for money, gaslighting and degrading the receiver. This is all now believable to me.
More of this should be brought to light.

Just bear in mind, everyone, that the DOJ doesn't need referrals from the Jan 6 committee to prosecute. So even if the committee chooses not to make referrals (which would be a political decision), that doesn't mean no indictments or jail time for those involved in the insurrection.

Does anyone remember a news story back in November or December 2020 about people who donated money to Trump stop the steel campaign and were furious because the donations App was designed to keep charging them the same amount of money every 24 hours. Lots of people lost a ton of money and Trump promised he was going to reimburse them. Does anybody if that actually happened?

This is the third time I’ve heard they’re delaying the Wednesday hearing, and the third different reason why. I’ve also heard that they delayed it because the Supreme Court might me handing down Roe v Wade this week, and they didn’t want to be overshadowed. And I’ve heard that these hearings have made more people come forward and they need time to go over their evidence and compile it. So idk which is actually the case.
