I like to make a carrot shape out of clay and then stick a wooden drum stick down the middle. Roll it on a hard surface to get a hollow form. You could use a little less clay that way. Drum sticks are cheap from Amazon. An easy way to make a tube without an extruder. Maybe a good way to make a overflow tube for a sink. Or a large tube for a sculpture of some kind.
Great video Matthew! Thank you for sharing!
Love your videos. Thanks for the clear demonstration.
Matthew, thank you so much for this tutorial! It was absolutely amazing. I love watching you work through how to problem solve and come up with simple and elegant solutions. The stem is just amazing. I can't wait to try!!!
These are beautiful. Adding the stems on after is something I intend to try tomorrow. I’ve already had a few pots collapse when attempting to close the tops rather than leaving it open to add stems after the fact. It is my hope I can add vines & leaves. I want these to look more like how they grow & pick them from my garden. 😊
Us lefties forgive you for being a righty (36:04). 😂🤣😁😂😂🤣 👍🏼
I've made pumpkins, but this answers some questions about why i wasn't always pleased with results... I'm going to try adding stem after. Thanks!!
Love your gourd.
As always thanks for sharing your talent with us!
I love the gourds, wish I was in the studio today… great tips on the stem.
BRILLIANT !
Stunning work and it doesn’t matter about the gourd no gourd is the same and thank you for the inspiration. Totally love the gourds. Going to try and make some and add some slip trailing bumps all on it
Can’t wait to get one hopefully!
Thank you Matthew, great gourd tutorial, will try soon! ❤️
You’re punny 🤣😂
those are so nice! i will definitely try making those. i have small ones made already with highwater’s buncombe and little loafers. what clay did you use?
MARAVILHOSO!!!
iunno, I thought your puns were pretty gourd ;)
There’s no such thing as a bad pun
You don't need to score the stem bottom before attaching it?
Thanks! How do you finish these? (What kind of glazing or underglazing?)
How much do you sell for?
You're so fast at throwing that it's hard to tell when you stopped fast forwarding the video 😅
