    Well done for the humane catching! Just saying for the green trap, put the bait in the bait holder at the end, not on the place where the mouse walks - you can use the bait longer, the mouse doesn’t choke and as the mouse walks further in - there’s a higher chance it will be caught

      Someone else mentioned that trick with the green trap, and it's since been working pretty well. I like it because it can catch some bigger ones. Thanks!

    Great reviews Stephen Colbert but I'm pretty sure that with the green one, you're supposed to put the bait in that back section so they'll stand further back on the lever. I have had success with them.

    Great job! I'll try those tip-traps. That trap is very impressive. I now use the Victor Tin Cat style trap made by another company and it has a clear top. The only super productive (never miss) trap I've found is the mouse size Havahart trap. But it's a single catch trap and they're expensive. The DIY bucket trap works when there are a large number of hungry rodents in a small area. I have trail cam videos of mice walking the ramp to the top and then turning around and leaving. In areas where there's only an occasional mouse the bucket is nearly worthless. But again, thanks for the info on the tip-traps. They look very promising along with the box traps.

      Sounds like you've learned some things with your various methods -- I agree about the bucket trap working in certain situations. Good luck out there!

    You have to take the end cap off of the green live trap. Smear the bait on the end and then slide the end cap back on. They work awesome.

    We had a mouse problem as we had pet rabbits. The mice would sit in the rabbit dish getting fat and not scurrying away. We eventually got 2 cats and never saw another mouse.

    I think the tin trap should be painted black. Galvanized metal casing does not attract mice.

  • @danmatuschek7387
    @danmatuschek7387 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The green trap didn't work because you're baiting it incorrectly. The bait goes inside the end piece that slides out so the mouse can't eat it all and goes all the way to the end of the fulcrum lever arm.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Spencer, we had two in our long term storage pantry. I had used conventional mouse traps (didn't know these types of traps existed) and since I love animals , I felt like crap after we caught to two culprits. Thanks again. New shop tour coming?

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like live traps not only because they don't kill the animal -- they're also neat and tidy. The shop is coming along ... I kinda want to wait to do a full tour until I have it set up just the way I like it. But! Since that could take a long time, I should probably do the tour :) Good to hear form you

I've taken that blood dehydrator poison pellets & crushed them into dust mixed it up in pineapple Philadelphia cream cheese spread I literally wiped out hundreds when I lived in the country & was overwhelmed by field mice .... Nice to see you again bud

    I have a great mouse trap myself but it's very expensive to maintain. Also it needs maitenance over time every year. But it's 100% effective. I see zero mice near my house.
    It's called a Felis catus. Highly recommend getting one or even two if you have a larger area with a big mouse problem. We've been using those here in Finland forever and it's the single most effective mouse trap you can get. Even the smell of a Felix catus will repel most mice.

    Mice are smart.
    Never under estimate your enemy.
    Spray the traps a different color every Night,
    And... put'em in different locations.
    Smart becomes stupid very quickly.
    Spray paint at DG.
    Every color they have.
    Flat; not gloss.
