James Snapp well he never "won" he just landed his punches abit more often, the tiger guy didnt even get tired, he probably would have kept going for another 30 minutes. after the almost knockout, as james almost never punched, and tiger never got tired of throwing hardcore punches at james.
@James Snapp I don't know if James Could of fought a better fight. I know what you mean but I don't know how great shape he is in. I had him winning 117-111 .
Toney's footwork and balance really started to go as he gained weight; you see it most when he was a heavyweight -- he could have been a real champion/all time great at heavyweight, even given that his punching power wasn't heavyweight level (though his accuracy and volume still allowed him to get knockouts), if he had managed his weight better and not let it become something that compromised his talent/skills and technique. Then again, the 'what ifs' are the story of Toney's career. What if he had cared more about conditioning and training? What if he had the ring intelligence to match his phenomenal defense and countering? Must say, though, the British announcers call this fight right. The HBO crew saw this as a much closer fight than it was, they weren't really cognizant of how much Toney was catching and rolling Jirov's shots. The British announcers, though, saw this and were not at all surprised when the fight was rightly called as a wide decision in favor of Toney.
the commentary is more accurate about the punches than HBO one
exactly what i was thinking
A technically impressive fight from both boxers. Toney might have won sooner with better footwork.
