These were OUR times. What a time to be alive. I miss what we once were everyday, and thank the universe that I won the DNA lottery when I did. These were the best years of my life and youth. Verve created a soundscape and soundtrack that encompassed my life then and continues to this day. Thank you for posting this. Music Saves!!!
Your nickname Life is now is exactly what i was about to say to you😄 It was crazy times with wonderful music but in 20 years i want to look at my 40’s thinking that it was just as wonderful. Don’t live in the past. The past is now👍
@@LSUOdyssey Meaning, of all the thousands of years that I could have come into existence, my DNA just happened to arise at this point in time and created ME.
OMG! Been looking for this show! I was in the front row. Like right there. I tossed my hat onto the stage, like a fisherman bowl hat, onto the stage. Ashcroft wore it for 3/4 of the show and then slammed it down when the show ended. I got it back from security. I still have the hat all this time later. This show was 2 weeks after I turned 18. Now I'm 43.
I am an older generation (saw Elvis C at Brockport State for 3 bucks in the school cafeteria), but bought the Urban Hymns Tape. That's right, cassettes in the car-ha. I got sick in 2002 and was stuck in Dana Farber Boston with Leukemia pumped full of chemo and somebody strapped a CD player on me with the Verve endlessly cycling on the worst night of my life. I am convinced that this saved me.
I was at this show - will never forget how awesome this time period was. How incredible this band was. This audio is a gem. Thank you to whoever recorded this! Very much appreciated!
I keep finding these live recordings of their gigs from the late 90s and just pine for the awesome live band that were The Verve. Best live band I've ever seen, hands down. Saw them first in '92 when they released their early EPs, then about 4 times in '93 through to when they did the Forth tour in '08. Just an amazing musical experience and atmosphere their gigs. Brilliant musicianship.
How was the Forth era show? Man, I was so hoping they came over to America to support that, but I guess it wasn’t in the cards. What I wouldn’t give to hear them do Appalachian Springs or Judas live.
I find the commentary of the guys on this recording so endearing. It’s just perfect. Captures the audience experience.. I was at this show..and was extremely happy to find this..so thanks to the uploader.
I don't know if you remember a hat being thrown onto the stage that Richard Ashcroft wore for most of the show, but that was my hat. When I got it back after the show, people were calling me Ashcroft outside the venue
@@TheGwhitey9 that’s cool! I didn’t actually remember the hat, I just remember how awesome they were..I remember standing in the middle of the crowd, kinda center. It’s the only time I ever saw them, but Ashcroft was so charismatic..and magnetic. Just such a good memory. But probably cooler for you! 🙂
When I listen to the British live recordings there’s always people in the crowd either being totally apathetic or sometimes outright insulting the band. In the American recordings there’s always so much love. These American crowds fuckin love these guys

@@floytronmusic8680 Amen baby.
Nicks just phenomenal, just mind blowing 🤯
I was at this show! I've never forgotten the magic from it!
Another top bootleg...! just listen to those jams they were at the top of their game in 97'
I was at the Irving Plaza gig in NY a couple of days earlier which remains the best concert I’ve ever seen
I bet it was, hard to top The Verve ;)

Was at the next two shows after this one, In Detroit and Toronto. Best gigs I've ever seen.
That version of 'on your own' was everything to me back then. I could listen on repeat 20 or 30 times on the spin. Takes some beating for me.
and you can hear a guy in the crowd right after it say "HOW CAN THAT NOT BE A HIT???"

My friends knew all songs its my recording thanks for noticing.
Nice find! I was at that show, place was packed out, everyone there knew it was a bit of a happening. Last great album of the Brit Pop era...

Do you have the recording of the 97 Dublin gig at the SFX? It was the greatest gig I’ve ever seen and heard.
Does anyone know what the inro music is?
Was wondering the same too
