My 68 years old brother-in-law and I traveled from Boston to Beijing in November 2010. We got into Han Geng's mom restaurant by accident. His mother welcomed us and asked whether we were Han Geng's fans or not. We saw a lot of beautiful Super Junior posters there. At that moment, we thought all the Super Junior Members were Korean. Then I asked the waiter why the woman asked us fans or not. He told us that she is Han Geng's mom. Then I asked how come Han Geng's mom could speak Chinese very well. The waiter is Han Geng's friend and he was laughing. He told us Han Geng is Chinese. It was so funny. My two teens children are hot fans of Super Junior.
I have soo much respect for him. He paved the way for all the chinese idols in kpop, and he showed that the company does not have the right to control you like a dog, and fought for his right to be happy. He's doing soo well too. I guess SM has learned to treat their idols right when Hang geng and JYJ left...lets hope they never revert back to how they used to be.
Hangeng had a big role in the Kpop, He paved the way for foreign idols to perform in korea. And korean artists get better treatment/law due to his court case.
It's curious how Hangeng remember most of his hard past time with a smile, but when it comes about how hard it was for him stayin' at Korea, being a SJ member... he seems so serious about it, like if you could see the pain in his eyes. Hangeng has worked really hard to become a superstar, he's not like others who were born in a better situation. Before you judge him please, take a look to the path he made. I'm an ELF, I love Hangeng, I understand him and I'll always support him. Go Hangeng!

His story is so touching with all the struggles and difficulties he has to go through be it during his young teens years at the dance academy till what he had to go through during his years in SME. It's heartening to see all those memories and experiences. Glad that he has gained himself and his life back and is pushing forward now. Way to go, Hangeng !!!!!!
despite everything, i'm still hoping to see them all perform on one stage (along with kibum and henry and zhou mi~). if hannie's problem was really with the company, and if teukie was serious about suju being complete one day, then in the future, when all these things are far behind them, i'm sure this'll come true!
I just found this video but I am starting to think Kris from EXO did the same thing. When Han Geng talked about gathering all his documents & informations for his lawyer and leaving for the airport. It seems similar to Kris's situation. Han Geng also talked about his depression and isolation when he was in Korea and I also think Kris probably felt the same way at some point when he spent 7 years of his youth there. Especially when he refrain from answering his family's calls because it was too difficult to deal with that sadness of being away from them. Kris wherever you are, I hope you are happy now. Even thought we've never met in person, I feels like I knew you in someways because I felt your isolation and not fitting into a new environment. I have empathy for you because I too know how that feels. I maybe on the other side of the world but I understand and empathize with you. Good Luck & Take Care of your self.

You could tell that SM has cut Kris down to size because if you look in the past year, you could tell that Kris has very little lines and he can't really speak as a leader and always seems to keep his head low and make sure that Suho had the lead. Inside SM there are works at play that is beyond Kris's control. He has kept it up for another year and it keeps happening so as you can see it takes tremendous strength to file a lawsuit but even required even more strength to endure that control of SM. They don't just control eating, sleeping, social contact with family & friends but even with dynamics of the group in their interaction and there production. If SM don't like you or wants more control of you then you will be even more victimized through these small ways that isolates you. Overtime, anyone can crack and become depressed. If someone strips you of all your rights as a human being, targets you and singles you out; the other members will eventually disrespect you and disregard you. You could see this in Showtime and some off the variety shows they were on. It's pretty clear that they don't think much of Kris. They may show he is getting along with the other members but that is something that is required to show cohesiveness in the group or EXO will be in trouble. No doubt that he must have been some what close to a few members but even they cannot help him because they too will suffer repercussions if they help Kris. You could see how Kris must have been bullied by big SM and kept quite for all these years and I am sure he is still keeping quite until the law takes over and there will be due process. If people don't pay attention, they will miss all the ill treatments towards Kris under the radar. People call Kris cold but I think if you look carefully, he just looks sad because he can't speak up and has to go along with everythinhg so he doesn't get in trouble. You can tell the foreign members are treated differently and they have to conform and comply to SM's demands or they will suffer more in silence. Fans from the outside don't notice this but even the ones that do notice can't do anything for them so I am glad that Kris took action to sue SM because this is the only way to redeem his human rights as a person. Go Kris I support you. It's weird cause even up until a few days ago I still thought that it might have been Kris who has been wrong in leaving the time he did but now I believe he had no choice and had to act as soon as he had the "go ahead" from his lawyer. Lawsuits proceed when the lawyer has gather enough information and done the proper documentations before the client can go ahead or else he would have breached his contract with SM so I think he has been waiting for a longtime. All those people that accuse him of have a two face and lying the whole time, how could he talk about this when there is no one he can rely on to help him other than himself. It's called survival. It would have been bad if SM knew this ahead of time; even the other members would suffer more than now. How would it be if Kris told one of them; that person will suffer way more alienation from SM & the other members and they too will not be able to stay. In order to keep all the other members safe Kris had to keep quite. I see you Wu Yi Fan, you are strong and you really care about others. To MrSimpleSungMin, I believe SJ members might know his problem. However, not as detail as they would think is serious to put HG to quit since they all have different kind of contracts with SM. I don't think they have the power to do anything for HG. In addition, HG already thought of give up his career and go back to his home town to be a dance teacher. He is not a selfish guy, he doesn't want other members to sacrifice for him.
Hangeng had to live really hard times...sometimes we aren't thankful for what we have or how we live, Hangeng is an inspiration and it's true that i met him because of Super Junior but that's the past, i wish you the best and i will support you always.
It's heartbreaking to hear his story about being depressed in sm the last few years when he's still in super junior. He really suffered a lot. I'm really glad that he's happy now.

i get that and i respect that; he knew that it was gonna be hard and it was. however, we all know how clearly how harsh of a company sm is. they are practically relentless. his job as an idol is singing, dancing, going on tv and promoting. anything other than that is extra, the unfair. crazy stalkers, no time to rest, that leading to bad health, being underpaid, all that nonsense. it shouldve been the comp's responsibility to resolve and help him that but instead, sm caused it.

I've read that article too and my reaction was like "SERiOUSLY? HE SAID THAT?" then I read it again and I read also the comments and people said like "DON'T TRUST ALLKPOP." He did enjoy his time with his brothers but its his personal decisions and values he want to pursue in life. Also, they all had different schedules then, all monitored under very strict rules of SM management. I believe he told his brothers but what SM decided is final. Hangeng has reached his limits with the company which makes him sacrifice this brotherhood and career.
I really miss Hangeng so much. i'll always support him. The main thing is now Hangeng success in entertainment world with his effort that i touched by his effort, and i'm really happy for that. I'm not hoping that Hangeng will join SJ someday, because i think he's happy with his own way now, i want Hangeng to be happy with his own way
I have to say I am really happy he left SM, I have always been a fan and I loved him in Super Junior but to see how sad he was all the time and never felt that happiness he wished of I am happy he is solo today, he became huge without a global company and without other members to outshine him. SM is a slave company and I hate it so much, I even wish Super Junior would leave that company. I really hope everyone sees this who still thinks Han Geng was selfish for leaving.

honestly, HG cant have been the only one that wanted to leave the comp, there had to have been more that was fed up being underpaid, mistreated, the sasaengs, carrying out compressed tight schedules with a few days of vac out of a whole damn year. seriously.. imagine working 14-16hrs a day, commuting with 3-5 & then sleeping only 2-4hr. we wouldnt even be able to handle one day but they live that as a lifestyle & its horrible who are we to judge them for trying to make themselves happy
Actually, SM problems with their artists started on the 90's, it starts with H.O.T, S.E.S, Shinhwa, TVXQ and more recently, Han Geng (Super Junior). And the problem has always been the same, abuse and slave contracts.
He really didn't discuss about this with his members and did it alone.. that's why SJ said if only he told them what he's experiencing, they could have helped him .. he's so brave .. that must be like a movie hehe ^^
SM was and still is such capitalist, exploitative trash. I was sad when Hangeng left SuJu but it was obviously for the better. The part about his father asking him if he was sure while signing the contract... and having fame but nothing else... is just so sad to think about. You really have to admire his strength to go through all that and come out the other end perhaps even more successful than before.
his relationship with member is one thing. But his utmost pressure comes from company, if company really care for their employee, the least they can do is showing little mercy & respect to HG's contribution. I've read that article too and my reaction was like "SERiOUSLY? HE SAID THAT?" then I read it again and I read also the comments and people said like "DON'T TRUST ALLKPOP." Then I just realized that one too and one thing that came into my mind is that, " I/WE NEVER KNOW IF THAT ARTiCLE WAS TRUE OR NOT. I HAVEN'T SEEN A PROOF TO BELIEVE ON IT." then now I understand. Hangeng didn't really said something bad to SJ. Besides Heecul knows the real Hangeng :)
He did enjoy his time with his brothers but its his personal decisions and values he want to pursue in life. Also, they all had different schedules then, all monitored under very strict rules of SM management. I believe he told his brothers but what SM decided is final. Hangeng has reached his limits with the company which makes him sacrifice this brotherhood and career.

I have to say I am really happy he left SM, I have always been a fan and I loved him in Super Junior but to see how sad he was all the time and never felt that happiness he wished of I am happy he is solo today, he became huge without a global company and without other members to outshine him. SM is a slave company and I hate it so much, I even wish Super Junior would leave that company. I really hope everyone sees this who still thinks Han Geng was selfish for leaving.

but one thing i felt very regret for Geng & SJ is that "why Geng don't even try to speak out to his members - the people was beside him in 5 years?" if he talked to them maybe there are some ways to solve and help him feel a little bit better"

honestly, HG cant have been the only one that wanted to leave the comp, there had to have been more that was fed up being underpaid, mistreated, the sasaengs, carrying out compressed tight schedules with a few days of vac out of a whole damn year.
seriously.. imagine working 14-16hrs a day, commuting with 3-5 & then sleeping only 2-4hr. we wouldnt even be able to handle one day but they live that as a lifestyle & its horrible
who are we to judge them for trying to make themselves happy

Actually, SM problems with their artists started on the 90's, it starts with H.O.T, S.E.S, Shinhwa, TVXQ and more recently, Han Geng (Super Junior). And the problem has always been the same, abuse and slave contracts.
i remember hangeng and heechul (best couple). I miss those they but time to go back w reality. Im happy that he happy now :X
He really didn't discuss about this with his members and did it alone.. that's why SJ said if only he told them what he's experiencing, they could have helped him .. he's so brave .. that must be like a movie hehe ^^

SM was and still is such capitalist, exploitative trash. I was sad when Hangeng left SuJu but it was obviously for the better. The part about his father asking him if he was sure while signing the contract... and having fame but nothing else... is just so sad to think about. You really have to admire his strength to go through all that and come out the other end perhaps even more successful than before.

But his utmost pressure comes from company, if company really care for their employee, the least they can do is showing little mercy & respect to HG's contribution. Discussion with no sincere resolution mean nothing, all those frustration & emotional distress they add on HG, treat them like working machine, no respect of their view to plan their future career, what would u feel if u r HG? His prob is with company, HG even refuse to work, lock in room

I think SME changed the rules regarding with this kind of situation. Also, I think they changed because many got mad at the company (I'm not sure with that). EXO is lucky coz they didn't experience this kind of thing even though they are just rookie. I hope SME learn something from this :)
