Hey guys, for anyone revisiting this video, or anyone viewing it for the first time, this run was actually the world record for 3 and a half years, but after all that time, it's finally been defeated! The run was originally beaten by a runner by the name of bewildebeest on November 2, 2021 with a time of 5:49:51. Then, on November 18, 2021, I got the record back with a 5:48:25, so this category is now over 2 minutes faster at the time I'm making this post! I will be running this category again for the next few months, so it's very likely the record will improve further, so you can check www.speedrun.com/mm#100 and view the Glitchless tab to see the world record at any point, or view the 5:48 here: th-cam.com/video/NYKSushCyj0/w-d-xo.html I'm very excited to see this category active, as it's rare to have multiple runners playing it at the same time due to its length being difficult for a lot of people to fit in their schedules. Hope you're looking forward to more potential videos of it!
Absolutely insane. You are not only talented but also seems very calm and peacefull while focusing on your run. Very impressive to see my favourite childhood's game getting beaten by you in lessthan 6 hours. Cheers man!
4:15:00 Never even remotely thought about that! Something so simple yet works well saving lots of time. Instead of creating statues over all buttons, which is boring, so the plataforms would form the path. Screw that! Just jump over that rock and force it to take you to the temple. Genius! =D
I love how almost every world record I've ever seen has started with the runner saying something along the lines of "This run is awful/ruined/cursed/dead. " Let my anecdote be a lesson to you all: so long as there's a chance, it's fully possible to succeed so long as you try.
Just finished the video. Great run, dude! I've been wanting to do a run like this for a while; I just have no idea how to record and just. There were some things you did that I did not quite understand, but also learned I lot watching this! I was kinda surprised when I looked up 100% and glitchless runs that they are not more popular considering how the game is set up. Would LOVE to see you polish up those segments and really get that time down!
It's been 3 years since then... Do you think it's possible to break a new glitchless 100% record with your current knowledge of the game? Do you have plans for it?
Funny that you ask, because I'm actually planning to run this category in October again! The route should be fairly similar to a few years ago, since it's very rare that new things are found that also fit a Glitchless definition, but there should still be a few things + just better movement that allows for a run that is a few minutes faster!
this was a great time! had to split it up over a couple days lol. also i can't tell you how many times i thought your headphone cord was a hair on my screen that i kept trying to wipe off
when looking to watch a game because you cant play it yourself, i always look for a 100% glitchless speedrun because you get it mostly as it was intended at least without any major wack-ass skips, and in a shorter than walkthrough time lol
Can not tell you how much my heart was palpitating with how close you were cutting it getting postman's hat after elegy cause of the bad luck during the fight.
Seriously, I can't really understand what is considered "glitchless"... you see, I might accept that Goron bomb jump wouldn't be a glitch, but gainer is clearly a glitch (and it is abused in this speedrun), Goron pound over the Swamp Tourist Center is a glitch, when you Goron roll over the Big Octo is a glitch, when you put Zora Mask while swimming to reach a higher ledge is a glitch... The edge between glitchless and full intended game behavior is really narrow. Although I have some reservations about the criteria the community accept, your skills are really impressive. I see some splits can be improved, but overall very good job. It's not your fault the community agrees with glitches in glitchless, you are playing the game following the rules :)
Yes, but it technically wastes time to equip it and use it, so it's much better if you don't need it. Since this run, I've improved at doing the minigame without Bunny and am very consistent, so if I ever run this category again I should be able to save time there consistently while not needing Bunny Hood.
Ive played this game so many times. the original and the remake. I am astounded at the speed at which you beat this game. I think I could probably do 15 hours if I had a gun to my head.
Wouldn't the run be faster if you did Snowhead with the hookshot by bomb jumping to Great Bay with Goron? You'd have Zora early too which could prove useful.
I do still hold the world record, but this run isn't that record. Bewildebeest beat this run earlier this year, and then I took it back afterwards. The new record is this video now! th-cam.com/video/H8pFXSrvw3o/w-d-xo.html
It's impressive how you can compress so many activities in the "first" cycle. You arriving just at the nick of time to save Romani, like a true Hero. Just think you've wasted the second day, but in real world time it brought better results this way I suppose.
I was watching this run to see what can be accomplished in the first day as deku Scrub link and I was surprised at how little of this route covers in the first day.
Official definition is "Everything you keep with you when you go back in time with SoT", which includes hearts, masks, items, songs, fairy rewards, upgrades, maps, compasses, owl statues, and bomber notebook completion
Trev question. For the Dino's in snow head would pulling a bomb running up then detonating a chu be slower then Gordon pounding. I did a run earlier and it seemed faster, but it might not be since you don't roll through the room.
It's amazing how you improved! May I request you release a pure gameplay version of this without comments like you did with any % glitchless? To say nothing bad about your comments, I'm just asking for the sake of a different format
Yeah there was no way I could have finished this game as a kid. It took me years to finish Oot as a kid so no chance for this one. I didn’t even attempt it
Is it really that difficult to keep a rhythm when counting to 10 for the postman mini-game? It's counted off for you and everything, just keep the subdivision going and count.
is it really a hard thing? lol i played this game for the first time ever and found the postman and got 10.00 seconds lol thought it just rounded it for me
I'm afraid that gainers are currently not considered glitches by the community, and thus are perfectly legal for all glitchless speedruns of Majora's Mask. I'm open to a discussion about via dms if you're interested as to why that decision was made or if you don't understand why the trick works.
N7 CARTMAN GH why would you want to watch 5+ hours of non stop gameplay with no commentary? Lol. Kind of no entertainment value in that kind of video. Even a vanilla walkthrough would need talking to explain whats going on in the speedrun.
@@Trevperson because you're manipulating the bomb blast to gain an extra jump height. A jump height ur not supposed to have. This is the very definition of "glitch" still impressive asf tho fastest i beat this was 12 hours
@@iliketrains263 I'm taking damage from the bomb in the middle of a backflip, which has the intended effect of sending me in a direction away from the source of damage. Most runners in the community do not consider this a glitch, as this is how taking damage works. Just because we know this and take advantage of it in a way that was unforeseen doesn't really make it a glitch though.

The only Majora's Mask speedrun I care about.

"They knocked me out of the spikes? I've never seen that!"
Me: *Goron race war flashbacks*
heh, first race war?
This run is insane, when I played this as a kid I was always nervous watching the final timer.
Same. I would spend hours just running around figuring out what to do, constantly resetting time and then giving up and just watching IGN guides LMAO.
Dude you're always so cheerfull. Always great to watch you run :)
I love runners who are always so positive.
4:15:00 Never even remotely thought about that! Something so simple yet works well saving lots of time. Instead of creating statues over all buttons, which is boring, so the plataforms would form the path. Screw that! Just jump over that rock and force it to take you to the temple. Genius! =D
~ 4:07:00 I didn't even think of using a visual cue for the 10 second timer, I always just use my internal clock in casual runs. Hasn't failed me yet.
2:31:54 - WHAT! Since when! How! Well, that would have been nice to know for swordless challenges I did as a kid. *Insert pouty face here.*

Is there a guide to doing 100% Glitchless?
When you speedrun a game like this for 6 hours, it's like literally your life.
It's been 3 years since then... Do you think it's possible to break a new glitchless 100% record with your current knowledge of the game? Do you have plans for it?

That effect when the camera goes underwater straight up messes with my heart.

none of the things you listed are glitches lol
The end of cycle 2 was intense.
You should teach Werster how to enjoy speedrunning and breaking world records.
My god, Werster is terrible at that stuff, I can't watch him at all because he is always so negative.
I can't watch Werster. He's so negative it drains me.
That still happens with Stivitybobo playing Banjo Kazooie, to that point when he annoys pretty bad a whole run and he still got the wr at the end.
“I prefer rainy days to sunny days, only because sunny days are so monotonous.” Me too!
I have an N64 and an original copy of Majora's Mask with my save file of all masks. It's a fun game
This guy is as peaceful as Werster (placing my ironic sense here)
You've definetly gained a new sub man, good job here 👌
Didn't You know that when You wear Bunny Hood with postman chronometer, You can see the counter?
Yes, but it technically wastes time to equip it and use it, so it's much better if you don't need it. Since this run, I've improved at doing the minigame without Bunny and am very consistent, so if I ever run this category again I should be able to save time there consistently while not needing Bunny Hood.
Congrats! You should also post your randomizer races on youtube; I'd watch those.
You didn't get bamboozled by the change of rules in this one like in the last run? :P
Yo Trev. I just wanted to say I love watching you kill this run
Me during the last 6 in game hour of cycle 2: There's no way you can do that.
Man, seriously, i swear that you're a f@#$ genius of this game. Just amazing af!

Love your runs!! Subbed
15:50 I can't execute this jump :(
I did it within a minute or two of my first attempt. Keep trying !
At 4:16:47 (in-game), are you forced to take fall damage?
It cannot see anywhere else you have to (both in OOT and MM).
You can just blow up the opening then take the stairs down and avoid damage
Wouldn't the run be faster if you did Snowhead with the hookshot by bomb jumping to Great Bay with Goron? You'd have Zora early too which could prove useful.
I once did the postman heart piece first try it was very lucky
Just found the channel, let the liking commence...Subbed and belled!

i would join his discord and ask there

Keep an eye out for the Cboo
hey did you do it or nah

Nice run, I feel like sub 5:50 is close!
S-s...Sis!
Are you still holding the wr? This run is legendary!

It’s cool that people have determined this speedrun is 100% glitchless, but what category is this
This category is 100% glitchless. I don't really understand you're asking.
TrevPerson
Lol. It was a joke that "100% glitch less" is literally 100% glitch less like there is not a single glitch so it is 100% glitch less.
Your skill is amazing!

5 mins in and i already like you because your positive

Official definition is "Everything you keep with you when you go back in time with SoT", which includes hearts, masks, items, songs, fairy rewards, upgrades, maps, compasses, owl statues, and bomber notebook completion

Yes it is, I will remove the (Current World Record) tag on the video as soon as it no longer is.

Why didnt you use the bunny hood to get the postman heartpiece?
Slower, I'd have to equip it
« 100% glitchless » 33:10 its legit ?
Yes, I backflipped and allowed the bomb to hit me in mid air, which knocks me backwards on to the fence. All I did was take damage.
TrevPerson im gonna try to finish majora mask 100% for the firstime so i look your video but i see i cant do that 😭
