That's awesome, it is so disappointing when you work on something so long and it won't start, but you got it running that's amazing, I regret selling mine, you should keep it.
So not sure if you set the mixture screws to factory 2 5/8 turns out and if you did a bench sync on the carbs but highly recommend a set of sync gauges if you don't already have them. Super easy to do. It got my 550 hawk running so smooth. Fires right up every morning no choke needed on these 80+ degree days here. Congrats though super stoked to see more. I just read the comment on setting within .2mm but not all cylinders are identical in compression some may have more or less vacuum than the others. Even after my bench sync It was running good. Then I set with gauges and had to drop my idle screw almost 3 full turns when they aligned cause they weren't exactly pulling the same vacuum.
Yes, I believe all pilot screws are exactly 2 5/8 turns out. I'll probably wind up having to sync them using the tool haha. Thanks for watching! Should be an episode out in a few weeks. I actually had all this footage for these past 3 videos done all at the same time.
Oh don't you worry haha there have been a few hiccups since finishing. I have ridden it around the block a few times, but that's it so far. After I move I'll probably get a few more videos out
I know you say that you are moving, or have been moving, and it has been time consuming. But can you let us know? what happened and how is the Kawasaki concour ? And will you ever show it in another video and give us an update on how you like it since then. please don't ever sell it. I'm purchasing A 1998 Kawasaki Concour In the next few days it looks exactly like yours. Maybe needs a little elbow grease. but I hope to be as successful as you. anyways, Any info on how you been doing with that bike would be great Love the video. on it.
Yeah, I have moved and it's honestly been a lot more work than I expected. Between trying to set up the shop and fix some things on the house, it's just been a lot. I still have the Concours and ride it from time to time! I'd like to swap it out for a newer concours since this one just gets so damn hot riding it. In the summer, my legs are absolutely melting on it
What a nail biter, haha. The engine/exhaust sound is so good on the 550. I remember being stoked on that when I first started mine. Are you going to balance the carbs or get that done somewhere?
It's probably my second favorite exhaust sound on a bike I've ever heard. And I actually do have a balance setup (some mercury manometer or something somewhere) that I might try. But I synced them in the bench by using a caliper in depth mode and got them to all within like 0.2mm of each other or something. So idk how much better you can get than that. In a future video I'll talk about what I wound up doing to help it start a bit easier, but it was starter and carb related. Thanks for watching!
I'm just going to let you guys watch and enjoy this one
Awesome. I love the sound of those 80's inline 4 bikes.
Yes, they've got a fantastic sound
I got one of these about two years back. I’ve found what I’m watching to learn what I can about this bike. I love mine and hope to make run like new.
Hell, yeah! Way to go! Love those old Nighthawks, cool old bikes
Thanks so much Steve! It's an awesome bike. Can't wait to get plates on it and take it for a few rides

I am 100% keeping this bike for a long time. Especially for how much time I put into it lol
VICTORY!!!
Just found your channel, good content keep it up dude!
Thanks so much! Hopefully another video in a few weeks. Had to redirect attention to rebuilding my truck bumper

Nice man I’m trying to get mine running after sitting 10 years. Gas tank is rusted bad but trying to make a good effort
See if you can do a rustoleum soak inside. I think fingerprint studios does a really good video on fixing a rusted tank
Congratulations!
I knew you'd get it Have you ridden it yet? (I bet you have. Perhaps a video of how it runs, and any problems? (I hope not)

This was a great video! Thanks.
You're welcome Shawn! Thanks for watching
