To this day it amazes me how Jack could sing and play this riff! He was truly amazing! His voice, his playing, happy to play his own style music. RIP Jack! You will always be missed!
I was 15 years old when this was broadcasted live on German TV and i taped the audio by chance .. At that age i was so clueless about what life was going to serve me, but then this song always stuck to my memory for some reason - Meanwhile.. years later i watch this performance and see how Bruce`s hand goes through that fretboard while he`s singing PLUS with his eyes half closed and acknowledge the entire majesty and virtuosity what grabbed my instinct back then!!
LOL, I saw that show too back then. Taped it also (with the mic of a tape recorder taped to the speaker of the TV). There is one thing that I've been wondering about all those years: I seem to remember that it was advertised as a Billy Cobham (And Friends?) show and not about Jack Bruce as the main artist. Do you remember?
@@frankjanssen9001 lol The only thing i remember here is also holding a tape recorder mic towards the TV speaker. :) "Billy Cobham & friends"? Really? cant remember anyone getting that wrong.
Biscuits & gravy - that’s Holdsworth on guitar , right? One of the best tunes of all times. What a band - so short lived. I saw them on the one sparse tour in E Detroit.
The concert took place on the 7th Rock Palast Nacht (Rock Palace Night) from October 18/19, 1980 (Essen/Germany, Grugahalle - Gruga Hall -). The following bands performed: Graham Parker And The Rumour, The Police and Jack Bruce And Friends. The Friends: Clem Clempson (Collosseum, Humble Pie), David Sancious (E-Street band and solo artist) and Billy Cobham
It was via this very upload that I discovered this amazing song in the first place but I have now uploaded the full 12 minute version for all to see :) Thanks
Lost sight of Jack Bruce after Out of the Storm. Pity. Picked up his trace again decades later with Dancing on Air (?) and More Jack than God. Missed out
I remember seeing this concert on Rockpalast - who'd forget the shirt Jack was wearing lol. I video'd on one of the original brick like vhs machines and watched it so many times it chewed up the tape. Glad I've found it again, brilliant.
Was 17 when saw this last time live in Autrian TV. No video recorder that time. Wonderful musicans and music. Thanks you for posting such rare things! Love it!
@bentpolski I believe it is a Warwick bass,i know he has been playing them for awhile now, that along with the Gibson SG bass..Warwick and Spector have similiar brand logos on the neck
he is a man like you and me,but a genias artist,I dont like personal cult,Ive be born and grown up in a communist country, and they celebrated honecker like a god,I hadet him from the bottom of my heard. When I see jacks face,he looks like very handsame peaseful man.Pease
You would be referring to Bruce's recent comments towards Led Zeppeiln? Yes, that smacks of bitterness to me as well, which I really don't understand coming from an artist as accomplished as JB is. Bruce with Page could have been some really interesting music. What a shame it never happened.
Jack Bruce...SOooo underrated......Billy Is tearing it up ..
Saw them on this very short lived tour when they hit Detroit. Amazing album. This tune has never left my head in 30 yrs. One of the best of ALLL time.
Lucky !
Billy Cobham's drumming is phenomenal! What a workout!

Great song, I actually have part of this concert on DVD but this song ain't on it! Jack Bruce's solo work is criminally underrated.

Clarence Clemons an der Baritongitarre, klar. Oder war's die Altgitarre?
That was Clem Clempson of Collosseum..
Clarence Clemons played sax with Bruce Springsteen..

Sorry, my Bad, you are right!!
Producer to Billy Cobham: "Just keep time" Billy "Ok..."
@SouthernPride76 That is a Spector Bass. Warwick didn't exist yet in 1980.
Porra cortaram a parte melhor da música que é o final, que tem uma performance fantástica do baterista Billy Cobham! Cagou o pau!
A música tá incompleta.
@kidigus Its a specter
you're soo right janeythebrit hah :)
he's so good, when was that?
Is Jack playing a Spector Bass here?
why so little known knockout song
I wonder if Jack ever taught bass?
That riff is impossible to play.
On a FRETLESS bass at that.
WHILE. YOU’RE. SINGING!!!!!!!!
