Hi Stefan Czech thank you for this. More so about what you said with regards to spending more money on lenses. With all the rage about 4K, 6K and now 8K, I think we're seeing again a megapixel race like we did back then but many of us forget that its amazing lenses like this that matter more and will last longer than camera technology would. I'm in the market for a ZF.2 set for a GH4 since I can still use the same lenses on a rented Scarlet or even an Epic Dragon.
I like these kinds of (p)reviews. Although the numbers, and therefore formal reviews, are important, explanation of what kinds of shooting a lens is good for helps make a purchase decision easier. Additionally, the changing scenes and focus points makes it easier to visualize where a lens starts/ends its utility for the kinds of shooting I favor. Nice job -- thanks!
@ted, yes the d800 will do that. But keep in mind, every lens had a slide shift. So please check it out and probely you have to cusomize the focus in you camera. I don´t know much about the D800, in the Canon you can make a setup to specific lenses. Have fun with this lens. Is not cheep but WOW...I promissssssss
Thank you ;-) I use the Novoflex Nikon to EOS Adapter. For as a filmmaker is the manual, stepless aperturering important. If you use the Canon - build in camera aperture - you only can go up and down in steps. And yes I will make some more english videos ;-)
Mr. Stefan Czech Thank you for your great preview! Could you tell me more about the shoulder mount system you are using in the video, too? It looks great for me!
@ted Yes if you use the ZE version for Canon, there are electronic inside and respond on the focuspoint. It will show up the focus square when you hit the focus. But I us the ZF version for Nikon with a adapter to Canon. So I haven´t this helper. But fpr this I have a stepless apperaturering.
Hi Stefan. Great video! Just wondering if using an Nikon to Canon adapter changes the optics/image quality at all and which you recommend. Please do more Zeiss videos in English!
Stephan, Thanks again for yor thorough "preview" fo this lens. I was wondering if you could elaborate on your choice of the nikon mount for the canon camera relating to the aperture. I was wondering what tradeoff is there, and what conversation hardware you used for the lens. Thank you!
@Mark Wilson Yes why not?. This is one of the best wideangle lens on the market. Dont listen to the "new kids on the block" they never will get there hands on a lense like this ;-)
This lens is great for video too nice bokeh and super sharp You can get this lens on sale now on digiht.com/Zeiss15mm2.8DistagonT for anyone looking for this.

I have the Hasselblad CF 30/3.5 T* lens with ATG Adapter for EOS. All today lenses has little travel turns from min to max distances & their Depth of Field Scales has all been reduced and cutting corners, which I do not like. Okay, then maybe some Schweinebratens :o)
Hello Panji, yes you can use the 2.8/15mm Zeiss on you 70D but you spend a lot of mony for parts of the lense you cant use. The 70D had a crop of 1.6 toa full format. Zeiss lenses are great, but UW i think its better to use a autofocurs, autoiris lense?
Stefan Czech hi TQ. beside the quality I like the look of zeiss that is why I really am looking forward to use it. perhaps I sld wait for zeiss auto focus in future. thanks alot for the information
Muß man einmal Googlen. Zeiss bietet einen 95er Pol und UV Filter an. Ob es entsprechenden ND Filter gibt weiß ich nicht. 15mm in einer Mattbox??? No Way ;-)
I have no problem using Samyang 14mm/2.8 on my ATG Canon EOS-1D C and ATG Canon EOS-1D X IR cameras. Buy a Samyang and you can still eat filet mignon for dinners. Buy a Carl Zeiss and you'll be eating macaroni & cheese for months.
qonte s LOL...thanks ;-) If you like this kind of German tech, than have a look at what comes 08.Sep. 2014...And I had made al the productshots for this.

Hallo Stefan, super Video! Kann man an der Distagon auch einen ND Filter schrauben oder benutzt du eine Mattebox für draußen?
Thank you very much ;-)
Can I ask what is the grip Stefan uses with his 5d, on the main part of the video? Thanks.

If you can only buy one, Zeiss 15mm 2.8, Zeiss 18mm 3.5, or Zeiss 21mm 2.8? Which one do you buy?
D. Johnson it depends on the Typ of camera And Typ of film/fotos you want to make. 15-21mm is a big step. 15 and 21 are very good
Hi dear sir .
What about this lens will compatible with Sony camera ? A99 or a900 ?
Since you had mention about any cameras ?
Because I am a Sony user .
Need your help
Thank you
Sincerely. Shawn
+Shawn Shing ...hi, yes of couse, The Sonys exept any knid of lenses to be adapt. Its a good coice. But take a look at the new Milvus Zeiss lens.
great video, thanks
@kelvinoBUZZ
Ja mit einem Adapter z.B. von Novoflex geht das super. Keine Vignetierung.
Dafür aber einen manuellen Blendenring!
kann ich also die Nikon Version, auf eine 7D 'montieren'? ohne Adapter und vignetierung?
Not "auto"...but only over the camerabody. And only in steps.
I like to have it smooth, manual and steppless ;-)
I would like to know if this lens works on a Sony a65?
how would you rate this against the Nikkor 14-24 2.8G ?
wait. is the canon's aperture auto?
alright. i was worried lol i thought i had to do both in manual just like the ZF version.
Im debating between the 21mm or 35mm f/1.4
***** ...Distagon 1.4/35 ..its the KING ;-)
Thnx thats what i ordered :D
