A lot shall be spoken about this day on social media with hash tags commemorating the sacrifices made by the soldiers’ valiant. Dignitaries of high posts, leaders of various political parties, and school captains in every corner shall also talk in high pitches remembering the valor of martyrs unknown.
But, who hears a Soldier with quivering voice recount moment by moment horrifying tales of the extensive torture faced and unsaid sacrifices made by every Captain, General and a soldier and their respective families? Rarely, very rarely does a Chief Commando’s Mentor of Elite Forces lets his soul bare and take a layman through the dark yet gritty world of the men guarding our Country in the chilling cold of Siachen Glacier.
On the 26th of July, 2016 we celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Kargil War, a pride inducing moment and a prick in the hearts of the soldiers who sacrificed their precious lives for us. When around 527 soldiers, JCOs and Officers of the Indian Army laid down their lives during Op Vijay with 1367 grievously injured brave sons of India, a small tear of pride falls down Grandmaster Shifuji’s eyes as he remembers the fallen in all their glory for our tomorrow.
The War which was fought at the heights of over 18000 feet, inhospitable rugged terrain, steep mountains, the likes of Vikram Batra, Manoj Pandey, Rajesh Adihikari made the supreme sacrifice at young age of 23. When the soldiers’ came wrapped in The National Flag with their closed eyes weary of the battle, one knows that the martyrs were certainly beaming with pride and love, for they had finally given up their lives for whom they lived for- Honor and Patriotism.

Let's fill our heart with deep sense of pride that we are born in that country in which soldiers like Capt. Vikram Batra and many more brave hearts were born, as we for the first time hear untold stories, straight from the heart of a Soldier first and Chief Commando’s Mentor later.

But everywhere we and our contribution are neglected....
Every year Kargil Vijay Dewas celebrated on 26th of July at Drass War Memorial Kargil Ladakh...but civilians are not encouraged .....
We helped and supported our indian Armies in showing the routes to the tiger hill, tololing.... We also provided our space like agriculture fields etc ....
Hope U guys keep in mind that In Kargil War , the kargilites also sacrificed alot....

When I visited Kargil few year back, the moment I kept my feet on kargil soil tears came out of my eyes because I knew that this was the place where we won KARGIL war.

Unfortunately after 20 years we dont have all year conectivity of NH1,the main motive of the war was to cut it.
Kargil is strategically important but not politically because it just a population of less than 2 lakh

I visited kargil war memorial in august 2018. That place gives u goosebumps. I loved being there for a few hours.. That feeling cannot b explained in words. I went though all the letters written by our martyrs and those who didn't come back
I would like to request everyone to visit that holy place at least once.
There was an officer who briefed us about what happened and how. He showed us important points on the hills. Today after watching this video i realized that he looked very similar to u. Not sure if that offier was you only.
