So happy Sootoday featured your channel! I've always been curious what the interior looks like. My father was a janitor in this hospital for many years. The last two years, during the spring, I'd park at the neighboring doctors building parking lot facing the east side of the hospital, watching a starling family occupy a broken window building a nest inside the window sil and raising their young until they successfully fledged. It's known they return to the same sight year after year to rebuild a new nest. Just a fun fact how nature can take advantage of places abandoned. Thanks for making this video!!!
Thanks for posting this! Born and raised in the Sault and this hospital held a lot of memories for me and my family. It's so sad to see the condition it's in. Always wanted to check it out so I'm glad I don't have too now lol. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the video. I worked there from 1987-2011 when they opened the new hospital. The "complicated phone" (I think that's what you called it) was one of the two switchboards - that's the department I worked in. I think all the staff knew that the building would be torn down to build something in it's place. I think a lot of people thought they could be used/refurbished but those hospitals were just too old, but to see them decayed, full of mould, water etc.... and all the equipment and stuff left behind - mind boggling! Hope you threw out your shoes and disinfected yourself after being in that place - so much nastiness - so easy to catch something - please be careful.

Hi James 👋🏼 your channel is my favorite explore channel because I really like you as a person and the way you explain things. You are so real that you even show bloopers. I like that you really put yourself out there as a person. You also do a GREAT job of filming and picking great places but many do that, just without your character. Anyway, why do you go alone so often? I also worry about you not using a mask in places like this 😉 but worry more about you being alone. If you got hurt or actually locked in, you would have some one there to help. If you ever want to explore abandoned Texas, we would be happy to host you!!
Hey, thanks very much Andrea, you are too kind! I explore alone most of the time because a lot of people don't want to spend as long at these places as i do. I am almost always wearing a mask in these places, unless of course it is a fairly clean or modern building. Thanks for the comment!!
Glad to hear you'll start wearing masks in places like this! I was awfully worried hearing you sneezing and coughing! We want to see more of your videos so stay as safe as you can while exploring! Also love that you switched things up this week and did a bigger explore. I love your small houses too but this was a nice change. Keep it up! I look forward to watching every week!
Hi James. Interesting to see the rest of this place and very grateful for the video. Don’t be thinking I’m not, but like others have said, there is a lot of nastiness in places like this that can be really harmful if inhaled or absorbed. I really hate to be putting a comment like this, but it’s honestly only out of concern.

From the outside I was not expecting it to be as decayed as it was. I mean wow, that place is gonzo! Awesome vid though, absolutely loved the photos in this place.

I think in most cases depending on the area, the government always sells buildings/property for less than it's worth. A bit short sighted if you ask me. Thanks for the comment!!

Detox for asbestos doesn't exist. Once you breathe in the fibers they are there unless the lungs flush it out naturally but fibers will undoubtedly remain.
@@StaticSpaces get a actual respirator that is rated for asbestos. A mask is useless because the fibers are microscopic and easily pass through. Still it's best to steer clear if places like these. I used to have to go into places like this when I was a geologist having to do tests and I hated it because precautions for asbestos weren't taken and weren't trained properly. But you should be suited up with gloves , suit and a respirator. You don't want to get mesothelioma kn 20 years. It's pretty much a death sentence.
@@StaticSpaces no problem man! That's the first thing this reminded me of when I saw this, a scene from that PS game. Thanks for saving me the trouble of visiting this disaster site myself, btw. It's located in my city. I was actually born in this hospital. Such a shame the new "corporate" propert owners have let it fall into such disrepair.
Last I remember reading in Soo Today is that the fire inspector considers the building so decrepit and decayed that he declared it too dangerous for anybody to enter, including himself. Sadly, it's become a shelter of last resort for lots of unhoused people in the downtown core, and at this point it's only a matter of time before something major collapses and somebody gets hurt or killed.
The roof has already collapse years ago in a few places with only wooden boarded used to walk on. Also with the constant flooding in lower levels I just hope it hasn’t happened yet
I don't think anyone was staying there, maybe using it to get out of the rain once in a while but other than that just mostly metal scrappers. Thanks for the comment!!
Alex, the roof has not collapsed anywhere, the building, floors and roof are still very solid. The roof definitely is leaking though, that's how the water is getting in. Thanks for the input!!
Not all of it, parts are covered in only plywood if you pick it up you see the level underneath, I’ve been there multiple times. What roof did you get on

But you should be suited up with gloves
, suit and a respirator. You don't want to get mesothelioma kn 20 years. It's pretty much a death sentence.

Thanks for the comment!!
Well, i think they have tried pretty hard to secure it but the scrappers keep breaking in...it happens to a lot of these places
Lol if your feet are wet you could get a nasty foot fungus
That's very true, I definitely had a shower after this explore! 😆 Thanks very much for the comment!!
@@StaticSpaces okay and glad showered immediately afterwards
@@alexandermousseau4951 went in 2 days ago and got to the roof its fien
Not all of it, parts are covered in only plywood if you pick it up you see the level underneath, I’ve been there multiple times. What roof did you get on
