The interview was both sad and inspiring, as despite all the unfortunate and intimidating setbacks, she still has her voice and continues to inspire millions of people and aspiring singers. Her fans even made a video documenting her journey: from battling a throat tumor and not winning a national singing competition, to her rise to fame, winning national and international awards, performing in concerts both locally and internationally, becoming the first Filipino to judge and mentor in an international singing competition alongside Michael Bolton, and collaborating with major international producers and singers. I've actually met Ryan Cayabyab in person over twenty years ago when I auditioned for Disney Hong Kong. That time, they were just in the process of looking for talents to work jn Hong Kong. The audition was in San Miguel building in Ortigas and I was both star struck and nervous. He was gracious and wished us good luck.

The reason for why the pianist had that reaction to Regine at the end was because during rehearsals and sound check she never took it high at the end. So it was definitely a risky move on her especially when she didn’t rehearse that version.
