Im a cabinet fitter and i go thru 300-400holes thru tiles n concrete(95% 8mm dia×75mm deep) a week on average...i own both the makita n milwaukee for 3-4years...your data is spot on mate..the milwaukee on 4ah batt gets more holes than the makita on a 4ah batt by around ~10% from my experience...the milwaukee sounds more agressive but feels less torqueish than the makita...theres a real diff when drilling older concrete n hitting deformed rebars...the makita feels slightly more powerful than the milwaukee...if i need max holes from one full batt i would use a 2cutter bit on the milwaukee...i get less holes per full batt with 4cutter bit...but 4cutter bits gets me more accurate holes...i tried alpen,heller,diager,hilti, bosch5x, makita nemesis2 bits... alpen,heller,diager n especially hilti's 2cutters are amazingly fast n lasts forever...4cutter bit i prefer alpen f8, best cost/performance ratio...the heller,diager n hilti's 4cutter bits cost quite a bit in my area...when i do more than 5holes consecutively i change bits...hot bits drill real slow n wont last...its worth the hassle...long term usage wise both the m12ch and hr166 can take a beating n run forever, but i clean and regrease the sds chuck weekly and i also teardown clean relube the gears with a mixture of teflon+engine oil+a NLGI 0.5 highspeedtemp grease quarterly...on the strength of your info im gonna buy meself 2 sets of the dewalt dch072...love your vids mate keep it up topstuff!

Also good to hear about the M12ch. Mine's actually the UK version and I wasn't sure if it'd be the same as others, but sounds like it is. And good advice for letting the bits cool. I cool mine with water if I'm doing long tests, but that's probably not really an option for you. Having 2 little DeWalts, though, is probably a great option! Lemme know if there's anything specific I could test and I'll see what I can do
@@BoltahDownunder Yup mate we both have a very unique n specific use for these tiny hammers...was lugging 18v ones before switchin to 12v...they get into much more tighter areas...now only rarely would need to change to a bosch gsb12v30 or milwaukee m12fpd for super tight areas...can confirm that the m12ch sold in thailand malaysia singapore australia uk is of the same spec/batch/lot...i operate in at least 3 of the above countries so i enquired about parts before buyin in...only the batteries might have some slight variation...used to carry a 500ml plastic bottle filled with used engine oil and i would shove the hot bit in to cool n wipe excess oil with a rag after a few holes...stop doin this after some idiot at work spilled the bottle on some expensive finished cabinetry...im kinda interested in the lifespan of drill bits...i rotate 5 drill bits for each size and i will buy a new one to replace the oldest one in the 5 once a month...been doing this for 2years...so thats abt 240-300holes a bit...theres quite a high variability in the stuff i drill thru... was thinking what would it be like in a fixed environment...cheers mate!

I’m excited for Makita CXT high output batteries specifically for my hammer drill and sawzall. The other tools sip battery juice with their pinkies out 🤙 even the non brushless
Yeah that's going to be interesting! I suspect Makita made their tools with the standard batteries in mind, but I'm hoping HO still will improve some of them. I have the little circ saw and she could really use more current
@@BoltahDownunder When Makita released their original CXT 1/4” slide pack driver it was best in its class and that’s including Milwaukee. Makita ditched the stem style batteries and went with slide packs. They ditched the brushed motors and went with brushless. More capable batteries is just the beginning of a new plan to save the CXT platform. There isn’t a single CXT tool I own that I’m completely happy with. There’s multiple LXT tools I couldn’t come up with a single issue for.. XGT for example, they’re big, heavy and aren’t powerful. The difference between XGT and CXT compared to LXT is just one thing though… It’s time. It took time to have to a solid base line up of LXT tools that are the perfect combination of price, weight, ergonomics and power.
How does the Makita 18V sub-compact (DHR171) with a 5-cell 2ah battery compare? Might be lighter than the Milwaukee due to having one less cell. The 18V Dewalt DCH172 with a 2ah or 1.7ah powerstack could be another contender.
12v vs 18v for these 3 is on the cards pretty soon so I guess we'll see! But from what I've seen so far, 18v with a 2ah is gonna be comparable to 12v in runtime & weight.
So, I have a Bosch GBH18 for most of my route development, but I've been considering a lighter "sub-compact" for situations when there is a long hike, or I'm just putting in a few bolts on lead and need to climb with the drill. These seem to be the obvious contenders. Are there any intangibles (beyond the numbers) that you didn't mention in the video that might make one of these a more clear front runner?
Another new router! Awesome, this is literally why I started this channel. Short answer is no, there's no obvious best choice. But, the one I reach for most is the Makita. It revs much slower than the others and so is easier to control one handed or when hanging on a rope. I think they actually designed it specifically to be one handed, like the Milwaukee, just with a different strategy. I find both DeWalt and Milwaukee bind/jam up more when drilling in hard stone. Softer stone is no biggie. But: if I'm not sure how big the job will be, I'll go for one with longer runtime. Makita only has the 4ah batteries so if I'm not sure how long the job will take I'd l bring the dewalt (or now that i have a 5ah for it, the Milwaukee). Of course look into the other tools in the system you might want too; I have a few Makita 12v tools and they're cheap & light and great for quick little jobs at home. I use the impact for concrete screws in sandstone. But all the 12v ranges will be like that. The Milwaukee has the biggest range, but don't expect those tools to be cheaper just because they're 12v If you're in Bosch already maybe try the smallest One they have the GBH 18v Li I think it is? I've never tried it but it looks like a phaser so is probably designed to be one handed too. Don't bother with the flexiclick unless you're working in soft stone

Well, someone's lying about their numbers. Milwaukee should have been fastest at small diameter with its higher IPM. Can you do another vid showing RPM and IPM in use?
There is a 12v Bosch, but not the proffesional one. That is Bosch Uneo, and for me this is the only 12v rotary hammer that it is worth to buy (or some other similar model, but very lightweight one). On my scale it has 1119grams without battery and 1303g with 2,5Ah battery. It is not great for bolting a lot, but for exploring new places it is great: 6mm or 8mm anchor for temporary use (caving or exploring very remote places), or 10mm for a climbing route (example: when making a new trad climbing route and the rock is extremely shitty, I like to put 1 or 2 10mm anchors in the belay station). However, I liked the video a lot! Keep doing nice videos! :)
Yeah I'd like to try an uneo but they're not SDS+ so not fully comparable to these ones. Bosch blue needs to get one out asap! People are starting to realise how for a little rotary hammer can be! And thanks for the info if ever get an uneo I'll try to do something special

Yeah thanks! it does add up but I try to do it as cheaply as I can and in my spare time, so far it's manageable. I've also gotta balance that with what I think people will want to know about, and the M12 HO battery is probably something people will be interested in, plus it's cheaper to get a battery than a whole new drill, so it's definitely on the list but I just haven't gotten there yet. But personally I think it'll add power to the motor, which the M12 drill lacks compared to the others. It tends to bog down and I think that'll improve with a HO battery. In general such batteries will help a tool power through harder tasks but won't speed up easy tasks. They don't increase no-load speed but do provide more current when the motor is under heavier load, so I think you might be right

The milwaukee is by far the oldest model. Released in 2014 if memory serves me well. Time for an updated model it seems.
