I own REG 735 with a 6-1/2 barrel. I inherited from my father, who had inherited it from his grandfather. My great grandfather was a very well known hunting guide in the Bob Marshal wilderness in Montana A guest that he helped get his first elk gifted it to him sometime in the 1960s. There's a "B" before the serial number meaning it was originally a police issue. It's fully engraved and has elk antler grips.
I don't like the peep sight, but that's a kick ass gun especially with only 6 of them with that sight. Beautiful. I have always liked. Mod. 27's, but the Pre-Models and the Reg. Mags. are just amazing. I prefer J or K frames, but I will own a couple pre mods and Reg. Mags. as well in my collection. Very cool.
No, that would be 1908’s .44 Special New Century Triple Lock. The .357 Reg was developed from it, but does not have quite the engineering. And it is lighter. And, with modern semi-wadcutter loads - all the power you need.

This is an amazing piece. I’m poor so a 4” P&R S&W model 28-2 sits on my night stand right next to a vintage J frame. Hahaha.
