    I acquired one of these bad boys back in ‘97 with both matching 2x12’s for $850 out the door. It’s still my number 1 to this day! Great video!

    The Jubilees are great. You can get a great vintage sound and they are dark enough to handle modern metal with nothing more than a boost.

    I actually found a vintage Marshall Silver Jubilee 25/50 2x12 cab yesterday. I had to have it because I use a Silver Jubilee 2525H. I was shocked at the condition it was in....damn near mint and totally original. And the tone that comes from it is completely amazing. totally gave me the tone I have been looking for.

    I have bought recently an original 1987 . It s awesome , my first Marshall after two decades playing with Lanay and Blackstar amps . A dream come true . I am not a big Marshall master ( yet ) but I agree that , after comparing the silver to a jmp or a super lead , it sounds a little less vintage but it definitely more versatile for all situation and practical volume . I might consider changing speakers for 65 indeed , people have told me the same thing about the 75 speakers than you at the end of your great video . Thanks ! Cheers

    Love my setup...I have both the A and B lower cabinets for the full 3/4 Stack. Oddly enough, they did not keep the feet pockets the same on the B cabinet, so the head does not sit properly if you just had the B cabinet. Great video showcasing it's strengths.

    I have the Black and Gold full stack. Love it.... I use the top angled cab for the jubilee, and I use the bottom 2X12” for my Mesa Boogie Mark V. Love both amps. Never get anything else but maybe a Fractal.

    Hey Carl, this is Donnie Lee that sang in your band for a short stint. This video reminded me of the first time I came down and played with you and Billy, I saw that Plexi Marshall which was cool, but I remember asking you what that box sitting on the top of the amp was and you said “good question fir a singer” and told me it was a power soak so you could run it at 10 for the true soul of it but can turn it down to about a six volume level. Those are the things that even good veteran players who play local clubs should have to know about it so the singer don’t have to sound like Carl from Sling blade sounds after 1 set!!!

    Have the same head, purchased in early '88 I believe. I use a non-matching straight 2x12 Marshall cab with it. I absolutely love the effects loop, but something is wrong with mine that I need to get addressed. When I plug into the loop my signal get intermittent, like there's a short somewhere. There's no problem if I don't use the effects loop, but that defeats much of the reason I love to gig with this setup. Excellent review!

    I remember when the Jubilee came out in '87. I tried one out at West L.A. music with a PRS Custom and just flipped out. It was amazing. I liked the 50-watt version the most. But what a great amp. It was everything the JCM 800 should have been in the first place.

  • @2550marshall
    @2550marshall 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I had two of those stacks back in the late 90's. Sure wish I would have kept at least one of them. One of my favorite Marshalls. More recently I picked up the Mini re-issue and the matching vertical 2x12. I don't know if my taste have changed but the new one just didn't seem to sound the same. It was a real let down. It just felt like an anemic version of the original. I did get a chance to try out the re-issue 2555x and that one sounded much closer to what I remember the original sounding like. I can't remember if the original was the same or not, but the reissue had the FX loop before the tone stack which is different than most Marshall amps. I ended up selling the mini but kept the cab. I changed out the Vintage speakers with greenbacks and I like the cab much better now. I use it with an Origin 20H and they mate quite well for that plexi tone.

    • @CarlCulpepper
      @CarlCulpepper 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree; the originals definitely have that little something extra... maybe it's just history. Having said that, I did think the 2555X was pretty close. And, yessir, greenbacks are always the best! Thanks for watching!

    Hey great video as always, the tone of the Jubilee is pure rock n' roll.
    Can you please explain how to hook up from the DI to another amp and cab ?
    I have the Mini jubilee combo and another Head(SL2555)+1960BV cab, and I don't know how to use the DI out, tried it with recording through a DI box but doesn't sound that good.
    Thanks Noah

    • @CarlCulpepper
      @CarlCulpepper 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, Noah! Yes, the DI won't sound very good for recording straight in. Since this is just the signal from the amp's preamp circuit, in order to do silent recording you would need to use some form of speaker emulation to sculpt the tone and get the fizziness off of it. One of the more popular ways to use the DI on these amps is for a wet/dry rig. To do this, you would run the Jube's DI into an effects unit (like chorus, delay or reverb), then from the effects unit into a power amp and into another cabinet. You could place a volume pedal between the effects unit and the power amp and have the ability to swell the effects in on the separate cabinet (completely independent from the main cabinet that is powered by the head's speaker output). Steve Morse has been doing this kind of setup for most of his career. As a matter of fact, he used a 2555 Jubilee for many years (before switching to Engl about ten years ago). I hope that helps! And thanks again for watching!

    My les Paul sounds like shit on my 2553 and I can’t figure out why. It’s been extremely frustrating. I bought a 300 dollar Jackson off reverb that sounds better. The clean is fine but the dirty channel is absolute garbage I can’t put any gain on without it getting muddy and crappy.
