1st Day On The New Job: R Model Mack Truckin'

- This is a video of my first day working for A. Cardillo & Sons of Waltham,Ma. on 7/8/14. The truck I was suppose to be assigned to, a beautiful 2003 T-800 Kenworth was getting some work done to it so instead of me staying home, my Boss borrowed this R-Model Mack from the Cannizzo Bros. of Lexington,Ma who are legends in the construction business around here. My first day went well and I even learned some new things.
Love R models especially on dump trailers they belong together
I keep coming back to this video I absolutely love the old Mack R models drove many of them dumps mixer packer rolloff love my Mack’s
That was the first time I drove a Mack 12 speed so I didn't know what I was doing like I didn't know I could put it in a higher gear when dumping.

It's a nice truck for sure! 12 speed and a 350 Mack, can't beat it!
Damn straight. The 350 Mack will out pull a 400 Cummins because Maxidyne engines have flat torque curves by design.

Man that baby sounds SEEEEXXXXXYYYYYYYY!!! The pump must either be low volume or worn out. Damn that was slow. I have hauled a dump bucket, a smooth bore tanker, Bulk Tank and a lowboy , with an R model. Best truck ever build. Tough as Jail House cornbread. Thanks for sharing Driver.
mackdaddy1911a1 looks like a 30 ton hoist. they go up slower than a standard 20 ton because of fluid volume... OK?
Timothy S thanks for the information. I have only operated one dump wagon and didn't know there was much of a difference.
Both my grand father's drove Mack
R models and my dad worked on them!.. I LOVE this body ...it takes me back to my childhood everytime I see one ... the sweet old days, I used to run around the shop yard with like 50 of these trucks everywhere ... used to climb up and down on them and get greasy on purpose lol
Heck yeah man. My grandfather drove an R model for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines. Then my Uncle owned and drove an R model for his 1 man company hauling a coal bucket here in rural south-western PA before he passed away. Seeing any old R model brings back nostalgic memories!
I would take that R model and trailer just as they are and roll like a big wheel, sweet wagon BT

That's a clean R Model Bulldog there . Sounds like an E6 350 Or E6 400 Under the hood . the 12spd is 1 tough transmission . plus I always liked the 5 reverse gears in the 12 spd like the ole 2 stick 6 spd .

This was my very first time driving a 12 speed Mack. That's why the trailer went up so slow, I didn't know to put it in 5th gear.

Yea in 1998 I drove a bulldog like you are driving with a E6350 with a 12sp with a old Brownie gear some don't remember the old Brownie gear we in Cleveland Ohio call it going to the basement lo, it was fun to drive old school it would haul azz had a steel body semi quad dump trailer on it and it threw out the black perfume out the slacks that's a man truck little BOYS STAY HOME you not a dump truck driver less you can drive a Mack yea you had to put the main in 5th to kick the PTO I MISS THAT OLD WAGON KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK IM RETIRE NOW AFTER 36YEARS OF TRUCKING 16YEARS ONTHE ROAD 20YEARS DRIVING DUMPS TRUCKS MACKS KENWORTHS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GASBROKER 880HP SIGING OF

Slow driver! This was 8 years ago, my first time dumping with a Mack transmission, I didn't know back then to put it in high gear.
Hell, that truck needs a different pump, way too slow
No it doesn't! It needed a better driver at the time 😉 It was my first time ever driving a 12 speed and I didn't know to put it in high gear when dumping. Self taught!!I learned quickly though.

Let me explain. This was my first time ever driving a Mack 12 speed 8 years ago. I was self taught. As you probably know with a 12 speed, when you're dumping, you can put it in high gear and the body will go up fast, no one told me this before hand so I had it in low gear, that's why it went up so slow.
