I feed barley sprouts, mung bean sprouts, wheat sprouts, kale sprouts to my chickens, honestly whatever I can get my hands on at a reasonable price. I grow them on paper towel lined large rectangular mesh sieves in the oven. I cover with a damp dishtowel and place the sieves onto a baking sheet. This allows me to rinse the sprouts daily, so they stay hydrated, healthy and clean of rot. I move them onto a counter when using the oven. I also feed these sprouts to my angora bunnies. We also eat them in salads. When we move to a farm, I will expand this operation into a full shelving system in a room.

Just went through my seeds. This is a great way to use up older seeds.

That's a great idea! It's a shame to waste seeds!

My chickens thin out my oversown garden by eating the sunflowers in their "microgreen" form... and then enjoy eating the fresh seeds from the tops of the ones that grow to maturity.

Anyone care to share your seed source?

Seeds from our own garden - sunflowers, peas, romaine and radish are their favorite sprouts we grow.

I use True Leaf Market and Park Seeds to get most of my seeds. Best of luck!

I buy whatever they have at my local nursery. Sometimes order through a catalog. All the suggestions here are good.

Can you let them grow just a little more & get multiple harvests off of them? I'd be willing to lose a % of vitamin concentration to reduce costs & labor.
