Matthew's renowned Daddy, Jimmy, was the first jazz musician I knew. He would be so proud of the excellence attained by Matthew. They share the commitment to pushing the envelope, and both have opened doors for fortunate listeners.
If i'm understanding what you're thinking, yes and no. It's a 5 string in standard tuning with a high C string, but that's a 4th higher than "normal" five string tuning.
MAAANNN... u take lessons with PATITUCCI??? DAMN LUCKIEST GUY EVEEERRR!!!! im a self-taught on bass... these guys are sooo many light years ahead.... :^( dude, if u wanna play samba like patitucci, listen to the masters that inspired him: nico assumpção, arthur maia, luizão maia, João bosco (nico's main gig), ney conceição (current bosco's bassist), nosso trio (with ney), djavan (with arthur, andre vasconcellos, and currently serginho carvalho) all they have great groove on samba! hugs!
