    Your idea for type of feeder and your presentation were very instructive. I'm going to copy your work and add one more feeder to my gang of seven. I saw a Carolina Wren and a black and white warbler in your video when the trees looked mostly bare of leaves. I'm guessing you are somewhere in the southeast.

    Great video! I am saving up for a power drill for myself. I want to buy an extra battery so I can have one on the charger and one on the drill at all times. I can't be trusted with a hole saw, though. The only time I ever used one, I ruined it by getting the wood permanently stuck in there. Still don't know what happened.
    Also, my answer to squirrels is to make sure they have something cheap, delicious, and readily available to eat. It helps keep them off my bird feeders.

    Thank you for all the info you provide. I have built a couple of things you provided videos for. I have a question about peanut butter. I wanted to start feeding peanut butter and began researching the topic. I get various opinions about feeding peanut butter. Some say you need to get no sugar added, some say it does not matter. Many say you have to mix it with suet, or cornmeal. I checked a local grocery and they wanted over $2 a pound for suet! Can I just feed the peanut butter to the birds using one of your feeders or a peanut butter log (chunk of wood with holes drilled in it) or your feeder per this video. What is your opinion about the kind of peanut butter to use and do you have to mix it with something? Thank you for your hard work at helping birds.

    • @LSatch
      @LSatch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching Jimmy. I’ve read a lot of sites concerning peanut butter and birds. The most negative site talks about how bad is ingredient and that ingredient it in peanut butter but at the end they want you to buy their special blend. I found this site informative and they weren’t selling anything
      www.thespruce.com/can-birds-eat-peanut-butter-4053751#:~:text=Best%20Peanut%20Butter%20for%20Birds&text=Organic%20or%20fresh%20peanut%20butters,birds%2C%20including%20generic%20store%20brands.
      I think if it doesn’t contain palm oil it probably ok to use. I have done both, putting suet in it and corn meal. They did like the suet added. It wasn’t much suet but it did make it a little softer and they really went after it. It probably diluted any additional salt and sugar the peanut butter had in it also.

    • @lynnhoffman247
      @lynnhoffman247 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s artificial sugar in peanut butter you need to stay away from.

    I really like the idea of having no mess under the bird feeder but I'm not getting it. I am not trying to be purposely dense here but where do the shells go? Are you saying the birds eat the seed with the shell on? What kind of shell-on bird seed do you use? It sounded like you said "tall sunflower seeds". Is that what you said? I would like to make these but I guess I'm not getting it.

    • @LSatch
      @LSatch  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching and your interest in making one. In the video, you see I added whole black oil sunflower seeds to the peanut butter. Then I described how to make it mess free. I actually said, you could add “hulled” sunflower seeds and you would have no mess. I totally understand your miss understanding because I had to listen to it a couple of times myself to understand what I said. Hope this helps and again, thanks for your feedback, it really helps.
