  • The first part of the voting for the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest, presented by Katie Boyle in London, UK.
In one of the most exciting votings in ESC history, after an early lead for France, Cliff Richard quickly catches up with her and even manages to take the lead near the end of this part (and much to the delight of his squirming fans in the Royal Alber Hall). Little did he - and they - know what was about to happen...

i dont like how until the 70's we got to see the reactions when the artists got points, i would have loved to see the reactions of Cliff and Massiel.....

Cliff refused to be in the green room anyway, the reactions were first shown in 1967

Nice to see this one back up. This voting couldn't have been more of a contrast from the atmosphere in Vienna the year earlier. I love how involved the audience are; I think that was something quite new in the voting process that time.

Lol those screaming girls in the audience rooting for Cliff, UK got off to a slow start but catched up quick midway and France had a firing start. Spain were set for their first Top 5 finish midway and who'd have thought what was to come?

That was the problem with some of the early voting systems. One jury could effectively pick the winner - as Germany did here and Belgium did for Ireland in 1970.

@cdnserbluvr Thank you for that (has it really been 2 years? My, how time flies) Truth is, I realized yesterday that, after the deletion of Jonathan's previous account (and all of his videos, of course), many ESC votings can no longer be found on YT. I happened to have the 1968 one on my hard disk, so I quickly decided to upload it in order to at least fill a small part of this gap (and I promise more will come in the future).

I'm sure it was probably the same on many channels that aired this when they have to translate what was being said for their respective countries.

Does anyone know the cause of Hamo Hajdarhodžić's death?
It's a bit of a morbid question, but I found it interesting that there are data on the death and causes of death of Đel Jusić, Marko Brešković and Oliver Dragojević, but not Hamo, who was a singer and guitarist of the Dubrovacki Trubaduri for the first few years since the formation of the band, according to consulted sources, he died in 2003, but it is not specified from what, so I would be grateful if someone could share the information, if there is any. And again, I'm sorry if that's a morbid question

I have all the contests with english commentary from 1983. I don't think I can upload them since it'll be a pain in the arse to seperate stuff. I got it off a torrent no less

@cdnserbluvr I got the same file myself ;-) I don't think I'll upload it all either (besides, most of the performances at least are already available on YT in much better quality), but you see some of that here later on.

10 memeber jurry and each jury give 1 point to their favorite song. The voting systems was used until 1970 and again in 1974 which was weird because the 1971-1973 was fair enough.
