You are so smart to find which curriculum works best for each of your kids. All kids are different and I think it’s great that there are so many options and types of learning to fit everyone. Love hearing your reviews of the different curriculum. Thanks for sharing!! ❤
I'm a senior (60 years old) and I've been studying algebra. I discovered this TH-cam channel called organic chemist? He does videos from pre -algebra through calculus and he is so so helpful. You can go over the videos over and over and it's frees! He might be a go to person when they don't understand something.
TT does work for so many and it worked for us for quite some time. But some kids are just not suited to it at certain times :) I did like how independent it potentially could be.
Denison Pre Algebra has been the saving grace for my two 8th graders! ACE is still working for my 6th grader- we had to go way back last year and review some gaps we had and she is just continuing on pretty quickly. Multiplication has always been a big struggle but she has been grasping how it’s taught by ACE.
I hope ctc works well for your family! We tried it for part of 4th grade and my son really liked it! But I was concerned about retention, since it’s mastery and you only get review if you add it with the question bank. Over the past couple years, I’ve thought about trying it again though. Please keep us posted how it goes!
I will let you know how it goes! I have not set up the tasks, but I’m telling my kids that every Tuesday they do CTC Math (I’m only having them do it Tuesday through Friday right now), they need to go do a weekly review (from the last grade, actually). So far I have to remind them, but there are 3 or them so chances are we will remember… mostly. I’ll keep you all informed. Also, just today I got an email about how they have updated the task set up and it’s looking much easier to do than before. Still don’t know if I will attempt using it though. For now we just do math for a certain amount of time.
Personally, I feel like finding a math and a writing fit are the hardest when it comes to homeschool curriculum. I hope you find something that will work for you and your child!
We tried CTC math and didn’t like it!!! I’ve not heard of unlock math but it sounds awesome as I have a kid struggling with math!!! Nothing wrong with going down a level!!!
I've used Singapore U.S. edition with all my kids in the elementary grades. Sometimes I'll supplement with fact memorization tools. I've only had one go through middle school. We spent 2 years using the Saxon 8/7 with Pre-algebra book, and from there we have been able to jump straight to Algebra 1 for high school credit in 8th grade. It's saved us money, and he's done well with it. It makes me nervous to switch back and forth so much, and I honestly know that no program is perfect.
Good to find a good math program! :) We are trying the different strategy where we switch math curriculum often! Lol No, not often, but we definitely are trying different things!
I'm not sure if you heard of Master Books curriculum? they have a very gentle approach to math and all other subjects which may make learning a lot easier and less stressful for mom.
I honestly wondered if CTC wouldn’t be the best fit when I watched your last video. Let us know how it goes. I’ve heard good things, but I’ve never used it..
Picking math is so hard and it gets so expensive! I got it for $148 for a year and half, ugh... I've never seen it $100 or under. I still have 2 doing CTC math (6th and algebra 1) and my 8th grader that was doing pre-alegebra hated CTC, and I still don't like it and or it's weird quirks. He went back to Teaching Textbooks and it's already so much better. I'm not sure we will be keeping my oldest in CTC after algebra 1, because I'm thinking we will do Denison next.
Hope you all get your math settled soon too. It’s hard when it’s not quite working. Glad TT is working for one child! We like the look of Denison too! Definitely a future possibility.
I did not, because I don't think that she is ready for even pre-algebra yet. I needed one more year before we went into that. Denison Algebra is what I planned on using NEXT year once I felt like she was ready. But, as it is, we are still working our way there. Now that we have a math that will hopefully work for a bit, we will stick to it for a while. But if and when it stopped working, Denison is my plan :)
What are some math resources that have worked best for you?

I agree! I feel so blessed to be homeschooling at a time with so many options available. ❤️

JC The Organic Chemistry Tudor...Pre- Algebra play lists. Honestly, he is so so helpful
Oh nice! That sounds great! Thank you for the resource!
Thank you!@@marytredinnick3366
So glad you were able make switches pretty easily! And love that ctc is pretty cost effective too! I hate how upper level math is so expensive!!!
Yes! If you want grading and teaching, you can pay so much!
Loved this. I have been tempted to try TT at one point but glad we didn’t go with it. Looking forward to hearing how ctc math goes.

Wow! That must have been stressful, but it sounds like you’ve got a great math plan in place now!
Yes, it was. A lot of hair pulling for a bit 😬 Things are much calmer around here now :)

Yay! I love it when people find what works for their families! Math is a hard one!

@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool Sounds like a good plan 😊
I’m not the only one! I feel much better!

😬 Hope it will work for us hit a whole:) we are enjoying it so far.

I have looked at that curriculum. It has never looked like a good fit fit our family. Thanks for adding that as an option!

Yes, time will tell! So far it’s working better, for sure.

Ohhhhh half off for homeschoolers is awesome!
Love that they give you access to all of the levels!
For your parent partnership will they count your religious curriculum as part of their plan and you just pay out of pocket?
I know! So helpful!
I can’t believe that I didn’t know that for my last math video 🤦🏼♀️
No… they definitely don’t. Everything has to be approved and purchased through them. There is nothing religious getting through 😅
