    So I picked up a new brolly system, I was wanting something that I could comfortably turn from day shelter into a bivvy for solo overnight missions, this winter looks to be one where I will be solo overnight fishing so there isn’t any need to load the van with spare bedchairs and the massive JRC Quad XXL bivvy. My Old day shelter brolly the JRC STI 2 Rib Brolly is showing its age, don’t get me wrong it is a great shelter when I was using a smaller chair that sat lower down to the ground I could hunker down inside it and let the worst of the winter storms pass me by but with a new chair putting me higher up meant that my head was touching the skin of the brolly and then with one of the Ribs smashing last winter I figured lets look around for something else.
    I settled on the Trakker Tempest 100T Brolly, things I liked off the bat was how easy it was to put up and that even with the chair I have I had bags of headroom inside it. I zipped on the front panel and put the storm pole in to see what it would look like as a overnight brolly/bivvy I didn’t put the ground sheet in or the overwrap on it mostly because I was being a bit lazy but initial thoughts are positive, even if the mini condoms on the pegs made me chuckle a bit.
    Only time will tell if it is up to the job, lets see what a winters Pike fishing does to it.

      I've one of those pop up hide things for the deer shooting amego over here in the UK the deer stalks are a day session your not usually camping out.
      A few of my shoots there's a permanent hide that's been built but they get used more so to get out the wind and rain for a few hours.

      Trakker aqua and cygnet strom poles apparently are all made in the same factory so either one of these brands will fit the brolly system I got this from total fishing off ebay they sent me the cygnet ones they work great I've had no issues.

    Hi Dave
    Nice simple shelter, easy put up and seems very stable, always use the second skin when using the shelter regardless of the weather, it assists with stability.
    You can get large equipment bags from Preston, Tubertini, matrix a few companies do large bags, prices vary but their websites will give you that
    Great video though

    Nice one Dave, that’s a descent brolly from what I can see though it’s not cheap. For that kind of money it will have to stand up to elements that Fermanagh will throw at it , we will wait for your review after the winter. Till the pike fishing starts, double thumbs big man 👍👍

    I've git the 200 tempest beast of thing with all bells whistles for family etc...but only thing I found was the on the poles the wire rope to help connect has snapped on all of em ffs and the poles storm poles I've found are wank design aswell the twisty bits have crossed threaded and I've lost 1 of them now but apart from that it's bloody grand 👏

    • @DavidScobie
      @DavidScobie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know you can buy replacement twisty bits for the storm poles if they fail I'll just use some of my heavy duty bank sticks amego.
      I've heard about the elastic inside the arms going on them but from other tents doing the same I've a load of spare elastic cord so if they need swapped out I can do that.
      Time will tell of its able to stand up to a winters Pike Fishing

    • @DavidScobie

      I don't think some of the docks I fish will be big enough for it amego, I tend to sit back a bit of the docks so I'm in some shelter there's times I'll use the van as a massive wind break so I'm out of the elements in the winter.

    Did well mate. Did especially well getting the scull cap thing/second skin. Because i didn't and the condensation problems i have with mine, without that second skin, are ridiculous. I just wrap an old fly sheet over it and the jobs a gud un. Not too trendy looking on the bank, lol, but it stops the crazy amount of condensation i have with out it. (All that with the door zipped shut,with the door open obviously no condensation.) Also the ground sheet is worth using becaus it has clips at the edges for your main support bars at each side to clip to, which gives you the correct size for pegging ect. I reckon it worth using for that alone, but it's also nice and thick too keep out the cold and creepy crawlys. I'm not trying to teach you how to suck eggs. You're a scarey looking and sounding geezer, lol. Jmo.
    Anyway i'm sure you'll love your knew trakker, as i do mine. (Although I whish i'd of gone for the taller version as i find mine a tad low.) And you're bang on about shit bag, because they are a bit shit. Yeah i'm a cuple of years in with mine, and i do like it, but there's a few 'yeah buts', with em. Again all of that is jmo.
    Loving your vids.
    Nice one mate.
    Cheers.
    Mick.

    • @DavidScobie
      @DavidScobie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I'm using the thing as a overnighter brolly I'll use the groundsheet but for the day session stuff I think I'll be OK without it.
      I am quite impressed with the space in it all I need now is it to be able to take the winter storms.
      I think as a day session shelter you'd be able to get 2 anglers chairs under it without too much issues I was very happy I could fit the bedchair in it so when I'm going out all night it should be lighter and easier to use than the old JRC STI bivvy.

    • @mickward5020
      @mickward5020 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DavidScobie Yes mate 1000%. You definitely don't need the ground sheet, to achieve the correct 'foot print', the tension strap, that they give you does the same thing. Yeah i love mine, but like you say, they are not cheap, and I bet you'll find 1 or 2 'yeah buts', with it. But on the whole, i'm sure you will love it. Especially with the second skin on it.
