    This song was written, and first released by CCR. She and Ike made this arrangement together, and preformed it together. She continued including it in her solo career.

    • @chadbattman6677

      Indeed. At first I thought my memory could be faulty thinking this is not Tina's song. CCR it is.

    • @true1evanique
      @true1evanique ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Actually, Ike and Tina didn't come up with their arrangement. Ike didn't like CCR's Proud Mary which Tina wanted to do. But if you were to check out Sonny Charles and the Checkmate's version, you could see where Ike got the arrangement from.

      Thanks 😂 for educating these guys, when the guy started going on about Tina writing the song after a struggle with substance abuse it was clear he was unfamiliar with Tina and unaware of CCR. This song is legendary and still captivates new audiences, I can’t imagine what it would be like to see this performance live ❤

    Proud Mary was originally a Credence Clearwater Revival song and this was it's most famous cover. Tina Turner used to do this with Ike Turner before they split up because he was an abusive wife beater. (literally and well documented). Tina had the chutzpah, the durability and sheer talent to then become a superstar in her own right as a solo performer. Vale Tina!

    Hi guys 😃❤ just fyi, this song was originally done by CCR (Credence Clearwater Revival) that's where the blues elements come from. But Tina made it her own! And I have always felt she had the best legs in the business! Jlo and Fergie are close ... but Tina could move!! 😊❤

    Lucky to have seen her in concert 3X... This is the same level of energy she gave to her fans... You're spot on, her endurance is jaw dropping, .. how did she do it? All I can say is she had a passion to be herself, and given what her life was before her return as a SOLO artist, she was making the real Tina known to all who loved her... She gave her everything at her concerts, she loved the freedom, she loved the energy we gave back... I cried at her last concert tour.. on one song she introduced by saying she'd do it in a way she never does, "sitting down".. but when she sang "Let's Stay Together" one of my favs, the tears came, because I knew I wouldn't see her in any more concerts... She had a tough life, & even worse, painful marriage... Tina said that at 1st, she didn't like "What's Love Got to Do With It".... But it grew on her, and thanks to a sweet new married life... She learned that "Love" had EVERYTHING to do with it... Gone, but never forgotten, an inspiration like no other... Thnx for your heartfelt reaction... PEACE!!

    This one wasn’t written by her but she literally made it her own and sung in her own way, which is so incredible! AND this wasn’t even the last song of the night!! She did a couple more before she ended. I recommend her encore number Nutbush (which she did write) from this same concert, she is fantastic here and when she hovers over the crowd on this extendable arm it’s so great to see!! This entire concert was just pure joy and energy. Tina and her band were just so great live. So much love for our dearly missed Tina 🧡

    Her death is the one that has shaken me the most. I saw Ms. Tina and I thought she was like me, biracial. Her skin color was a lot like mine. She was everything I wanted to be when I grew up! She was so beautiful, strong, courageous and so talented! It wasn't easy being the child of a black mom and a white dad in the 70's. But, somehow Ms Tina got me through it!

    she did this song in the sixties as a cover from CCR and it was high energy always. River Deep Mountain High produced by Phil Spector using wall of sound is beautiful. Ike and Tina + the Ikettes made this song in a similar way on TV 1971. I remember it! Today it is possible to see the very same (and now in colour) on TH-cam. It was good that they separated - but he had an interesting bass voice. The Ikettes was the chorus, usually three girls. Several skilled girls passed through. P.P. Arnold was an early name. She moved to UK. She is the chorus at Small Faces video version of "Tin soldier" Steve Marriott's voice + P.P. Arnold makes it iconic!
    Two other Ikette ladies: Linda Sims and Debbie Wilson together with Tina Turner is the chorus on two Frank Zappa albums: "Overnite Sensation" and "Apostrophe' ". Ike Turner didn't want that the Ikettes got credits at the Zappa albums because he thought the music was stupid. It was one of the most challenging job! Check the song "Montana" audio from Overnite Sensation!!!

    The song was written by John Fogarty for Credence Clearwater Revival. (He was their lead singer as well). Tina began singing it around 1969 while still with Ike. I saw them in 1970-71 at the Berkeley Community Theater. Incredible concert. I was around 16 or 17. So, in any event, she sang the song for 50 years. Most people don't even remember CCR. just for perspective, Wembley Stadium holds 90,000....SEATED!! There seem to be a few people on the football pitch as well.

The musical is about her life and her 5 decades if music. It sounded like am awesome show according to mother who saw it a few yrs ago. Anyways, great reaction to a legendary song by a lengendsry singer who still could do all the dance move at 60, 24 yrs ago. I feel old because i was like 12 when she went on her tour.

    Rock music evolved from blues, country, jazz, and gospel. Soul and funk are related to the others. They all came out of BACH, mind ya.

    Excellent choice to review and you MUST review the encore - Nutbush City Limits !! Apart from the obviously excellent track ( another one ) you'll be amazed at the sheer energy Tina has ( and daring ) while performing this iconic song. ( The sky's the limit 😉 ).

    Proud Mary was written by John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival and they released it in 1969. Tina and her husband at the time Ike Turner covered it in 1970. It has become Tina's song though. You should catch an Ike & Tina version. While Ike was a piece of shit (my opinion) he knew talent (Tina), their version is great.
