Bruh, but the way Zeus was grabbing him from the start. He was CLEARLY into him already, his shock was because Odysseus made the first proper move.
The funny thing is Odysseus can do whatever the fuck he wants to zeus because the gods aren't even allowed to kill him LMAO
For anyone that doesn't know, in the actual odyssey, the fates decided that Odysseus would return home, ALIVE, and you do NOT defy the fates, not even the gods are that stupid (They would get insta killed, murdered, torturered, or somehow worse etc etc)
That's why Odysseus doesn't die, not even when confronted by cyclopses, angry gods, or even when he was stabbed
But that also means that Zeus's question was a trick question, he only asked because he knew Odysseus would pick his crew to die, and if he didn't, Zeus would have had to kill them anyways because he's not supposed to kill Odysseus as it would be endangering himself
(Which is also why Posiden sunk every boat except Odysseus's. When Posiden said 'prepare to die' he was talking to the crew, not Odysseus.)

That's a good point; I'd forgotten, but even Polyphemus' prayer to Poseidon wasn't "kill Odysseus," it was "let him be long delayed and suffer greatly BEFORE he reaches home" (obviously heavily paraphrased)
