Levy & Campaign Series Update

- The Levy & Campaign series was initiated by the release of Nevsky in 2019 by GMT games. Two years later: Almoravid, volume 2 of the series, is about to be shipped, and there are currently two other volumes in P500. But this is only the tip of the iceberg! On Discord, a community of designers are working on the future of the series. There are currently 20 projects in preparation.
I invited a panel of members of this community to discuss the current state, but more importantly, the future of the Levy & Campaign series:
Volko Ruhnke, designer of Nevsky & Almoravid and creator of the Levy & Campaign system.
Francisco Gradaille, designer of Plantagenet, the latest volume added to P500 on the Cousin's War in England.
Joe Schmidt, currently working on a mini Levy & Campaign Game on Henry the Vth 1415 campaign in Normandy.

I love how whether it is COIN, Zenobia or Levy and Campaign, Volko puts so much effort into building up others around him.

Great discussion. So many great stories to be told from the middle ages like Volko mentioned. Ancient Greece vs. Troy I'd very much enjoy in this system as well.

Another great show. I'm getting more and more interested in buying some af the L&C games, and this show made me a lot more inclined to finally doing it.
It looks like it's going to be a great series, maybe as influential as COIN? I guess we'll see but I am also very excited by what's to come.

I've heard no mention, here nor elsewhere, of an obvious application of L&C: the world of Westeros. Perhaps licensing is prohibitive, but perhaps not.
That's an interesting idea, but L&C games are for a niche audience and I am not sure that with volumes like that you could cover for licensing costs. on top of that there are already quite a few boardgames in this setting. Maybe by aggressively streamlining the system? And more importantly, what specific operation do you think it should cover that would appeal to the general boardgame audience?
@@HomoLudens1871 Robert's Rebellion, or the campaigns that led up to the Battle for King's Landing. Sounds like I was correct about the cost of licensing though. Production volumes limited to the P500 system are not a place for licensed games.
Robert's rebellion is a great idea, technically everyone who watched the first season or read the first book would know about it and it clearly has 2 sides.
L&C for the war of unification of china? with the first emperor and several kingdoms warfare?
A game on that topic is an awesome idea! Not sure the L&C as is system fits though. The wars of unification are on a way larger scale : over a decade and over a massive area. But with some adjustments it surely could work.
