Beautiful and heartfelt. Thanks for sharing this. Mick was a brilliant, sweet and once-in-a-lifetime shining star on this planet. Met him once and had a couple of beers with him at Pete's Tavern in NYC in the early 1980's. He couldn't have been nicer or more generous. He is truly missed.
Wonderful piece by Ian. Mick Ronson was one of the finest guitarists to come along in rock history. A soft spoken, intelligent man of amazing musical talent.
oh how we miss Mick Ronson's talent, he made the 70's for me, in more ways than one, from one day seeing this guy with long blond hair sat on a motorised grasscutter cuttig the grass on our street, then later seeing this man on top of the pops, then realising who had been cutting our grass, after seeing him play I was in love with Les Pauls, RIP Mick, a true legend, gentleman and genius. thank you.
Shortly after joining David Bowie, Mick returned to Hull to study music arranging. D.B. was brilliant, but Mick Ronson did an awful lot of work in helping him in the earlier years. I don't think Mick recived the credit he was due. There is a wonderful DVD available on Mick's life. It is called, "Beside Bowie". It is so very sweet to see the love for him expressed by so many and, in particular, by his younger sister, Maggi and by Ian Hunter.
very well done video, the photos and footage of Ronno nothing short of beautiful...it's a real tragedy that approximately 50 years since Mick came onto the music scene he still hasn't gotten the respect and recognition he so royally deserves...just goes to show what a sham the R 'n R hall of fame is not to have inducted Mick yet
My friend spent two weeks with Mick when they met on holiday in Ibiza. He had no idea who he was. They had a great time sadly they are both gone now! Mick was with Bowie at that time 72 I think . RIP Mick and Phil. Thanks for the song.
I find the passing of Mick Ronson extremely sad and Ian Hunters vocal phrasing as ever pulls every heartstring out of each song he performs. One of the truest rock voices ever. The Journey and Seadiver still bring tears to my eyes, as does Michael Picasso. RIP Ronno.
It's July 2022 and I still miss Mick! There was the young Mick who became the platinum blond Spider 🕷 from Mars then the mature Mick who played with Ian. Loved them both! His talent will live on and as long as will listen to his wonderful 🎶 music and keep him in our ❤ heart. My favorite ( and there are so many live performances) is Mick & Bowie doing "Space Oddity". The 🎸 guitar part as the space ship is launching part and 3:09 minutes (give or take) before his little guitar solo is a shoulder shrug! Gets me every time! RIP Mick and know that I have not or will not EVER forget you. You have touched my heart with your music and singing. You were one of a kind. God Bless you Ronno!!!!
the great Ian Hunter's song about band mate Mick Ronson. Touching and sincere. Mick also arranged "Jack and Diane" for Mellencamp amongst other songs he produced or arranged or co-wrote. True talent.
Nice tribute! I always liked Ronno's guitar hooks & tasteful (tasty too!) playing, but I knew very little about him until I watched the MR Story documentary (3 times!). What a great artist & human being!
that was so moving it made me cry its 2.45 am im on my own and im crying but really his soul is somewhere and he remembers it all it was just his body that gave in not his soul so to me he is very much alive because the soul is immortal.
Made so many Stars by Playing & Producing, It was not about the money, it was about the music, shame when he had no money near the end RIP The Greatest Guitarist Ever !!
I got the impression that he never came to grips with Bowie's usury nature. It's flashed on briefly in the interview extras': 'THAT'S DAVID BOWIE!'(URGHH) Wakeman had a similar feeling- like HE'D DONE WRONG BY GOING INTO YES INSTEAD OF THE SAME DAY'S OFFER BY D.B. RW mentioned it (his own) in some piece & said Bowie told him 'No! You did the right thing; odds are you'd have been out of a job in a few years. I change bands every album! You did the exact right thing!' Different colors though. Ronson went outside the norm for the DB 'experience' & couldn't find an application for that stuff elsewhere. TC, D
I fall asleep on UFO docs. This morning I woke up just as this was beginning. Very nice & I don't know how I managed to miss so much good 'British' Music along the way! Led Zep exclusivity could be a factor. Don't paint your tastes into a corner folks. It's a little late but I think that's it. Frampton the other night - seated for 3 hours of wailing away 👍 .Just as he & Marriott were getting back to work.
Mick passing really affected him I believe he once said ''all though I live in the now let's just say there was my life before mick and my life after mick I lost my brother and that kind of sadness I can't see ever going away'' it's sad because in some ways we all have some kind of tragedies in our lives in one way or another and if you don't you will. see the thing is about life the things that change use forever come from way out of the blue.
Beautiful song with very moving lyrics, emotionally charged, it don't get better than this. Thanks Ronno, RIP, thanks Ian for your unique songwriting talent
Can't stop the tears. What in incredibly beautiful and sad song. Mick's sister, Maggie, recorded this and it is stunningly beautiful. Miss him very much - so very, very much. Thank you for bringing this to us. Your montage of clips and photos is so very sweet.
LOVE THIS SONG...WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE LET INTO BANDS PARTY AT INTERNATIONAL 2 MCR...PLYMOUTH GROVE.TWO GIANTS.R.I.P. RONNO.THANKS FER BEER WITH YOU N IAN.PRICELESS MEMMORY.
Ian Hunter's 'Staircase to Heaven' or 'Hotel California,' and more gut-wrenching than both. A fabulous, shambolic, magical song. And then ... Just one of many he has written. Primus inter pares ...
Iran Hunter has been my under the radar musician, and listened to his music over and over as a young man.Trying to find my musical niche, and the good lord dropped me into an era ripe with great Talent and passion. And Mick Ronson, Ian Hunter David Bowie, Lou Reed, Steve Hunter, to name just a few, actually help mold this very malleable mind, I have been blessed, CHEERS, To my friends I have never met.

Only thing that makes you cry. Ian tributing Mick, nothing else compares
Why couldent this have been for ever.
good way to express it
God bless Mick. Truly wonderful and one of the most underrated guitarist of rock history. Way ahead of his time. He left us too soon
Just heard an interview with Hunter, who said “he was my best mate”. Wow.
Beautiful lan
Wonderful piece by Ian.
Mick Ronson was one of the finest guitarists to come along in rock history.

Agreed!.......;(
Yes, indeed!
Class is permanent!

Did he still live in Hull later in his short life?
@@chasbodaniels1744 no, I don't think he visited very often either, only to see his mum
Touchingly beautiful & heartfelt tribute to Mick Ronno Ronson, a great producer, arranger, performer & guitarist.
Seeing Ian & Mick together at The Coach House in 1988 is something I will never forget.
I live in Mississippi, wish he and I could have gone to some of the Blues clubs, believe Mick would have loved it.
Not seen this before, absolutely beautiful, a heart felt tribute to a close friend 👍
Ian Hunter is incredibly awesome and still perfoming at 80 years old!
Some truly great musicians have been overlooked especially Mick Ronson.
Shortly after joining David Bowie, Mick returned to Hull to study music arranging. D.B. was brilliant, but Mick Ronson did an awful lot of work in helping him in the earlier years. Not sure he was overlooked. Bowie would be nothing without Ronson. Bowie’s best music sprung from his time with Ronson

Wow! Still my favorite artist after all these years! What a voice, the lyrics, the arranging....
Ronno....the best I have ever seen. No one quite touches the soul when playing like he did. Great memories of the old Glasgow Apollo
What a beautiful and moving tribute to one of the all time greats.

Una balada emocionante. Maravillosa. Mágica. Me encantaba Mick Ronson. Mucho. Era un gran guitarrista. Thanks from Madrid, Mr. Hunter.
So heartfelt. 💓💕💞and I do...
Nice tribute! I always liked Ronno's guitar hooks & tasteful (tasty too!) playing, but I knew very little about him until I watched the MR Story documentary (3 times!). What a great artist & human being!
