He was good, but definitely needs some room for improvement in his decision making. He has the arm talent for the deep ball, but once the safeties moved back they took that away from him. Going to be outstanding, just does not have the experience, but will build over the year. I do think Texas is the best team in the country on both sides of the ball. The defense is absolutely filthy this year.

We got exactly what we needed from Arch. Easy win and he showed flashes of future brilliance but also showed the difference between talent and experience. Arch has a higher ceiling than Quinn but there is no question who is currently the more polished QB

He looked like a RS Freshman in his first game . Also it seemed like he was instructed to sit in the pocket and not scramble , you could see him going thru is progressions and maybe he felt the pressure of the moment . No question hes the backup .

He looked fine for his first start but showed why all the ridiculous hype about him replacing Ewers was so wrong. The more he can ease into the role the less detrimental the inevitable growing pains will be once he takes over for real. Ewers is QB1 and should start as soon as he is ready. Period.

And to his and his family's credit, I don't think they would have disagreed with this before or after this game. They knew as well as anyone what the team has in Quinn and what the future holds for Arch. The hype is purely from the outside. This is as good of a QB scenario I can think of and especially remarkable given the transfer/NIL revolution.

Arch Manning's QB talent, and the fact he is UT's backup as a QB, are major reasons the Longhorns are Number 1 in the nation right now. However, if he were the team's acknowledged fulltime starter, that fact alone would pull UT down to 3rd or 4th place. Manning is learning. He might be good, but he's not ready to face the likes of Georgia and Alabama quite yet.

Guys, Arch can already run. That’s not what he needs to improve on. ULM is just a practice game for Texas. They used this to teach him to play at this level. If Texas was playing better competition they probably would have let him scramble some. It just wasn’t necessary in this game.

Maybe Saturday night's game against ULM could have been The Perfect Game for QB Arch, and maybe for Texas O-Line. "Oops - a screwed-up first possession with O-line leaking pass rushers..." They worked and fixed a LOT of those issues. In this way, this could be perfect. He needed some good, he needed some bad, and a whole lot of improvements.

Breaking news: After throwing 2-interceptions against UL-Monroe, and with Ewers being day to day and week to week, Sarkisian has decided to give the 3rd string QB some reps with the starters. We have information that Manning may not actually be Sarkisian's first choice when using some formations and Sarkisian has also made it clear that he thinks well know ESPN hack, Paul Finebaum, doesn't know what he's talking about when he says Arch Manning is a future Heisman trophy winner. If Manning continues to throw the same number of interceptions as TD passes, look for Manning to become a back-up again especially with the SEC being pretty loaded when it comes to week to week competition. Manning may have just had some unfortunate mistakes so if he plays well, great. However, Sarkisian isn't taking any chances.

A couple of the warts on Arch's performance could easily have gone the other way. He had a little too much spice on the short pass to Blue that was tipped and intercepted. Blue could/should have caught that ball. The overturned deep completion to Bolden was a bogus reversal by the refs. Where was the indisputable video evidence that he didn't have his hands under the ball throughout the catch? That said, if Texas can win 51-3 with a QB who grades himself as a C+, their ceiling as a team is stratospheric.
