chestypants78 I know plenty of people from his generation who are for gay marriage and plenty from my own (born 1987) who are not. Every country has their bigots/troglodytes. Ireland is leaning far more to the left nowadays and the liberalism is spread evenly through the country. America has big chunks of deeply religious ,science hating, republican old people, which is the only reason why fox gets any ratings at all. This man does remind me of Bill O Reilly a little bit. Family values my ass. Getting so worked up over voting on whether we should or shouldn't discriminate an entire group of people is so idiotic. This guy was again allowed to speak at the People's Debate in Limerick (broadcast on 29/4/2015). Why?! That's what's wrong with this country, Not only do we debate in circles all the time, but we keep getting distracted by side shows. It also wass irresponsible of the show to allow this man to present himself to the public in this way. It's like giving someone with a drink problem, free beer.

Read my original comment again. I don't like being misrepresented. I'm all for free speech, but how many people have had two opportunities to speak about the same subject in two different 'People's Debates'? My point was why did Browne TV3 deliberately pick this guy out to speak on the same subject again? It's worth thinking about that, because there was a clear indication that he was chosen because of what he was likely to say and how he was likely to say it. If he had spoken about another subject I wouldn't have minded so much, Free speech also allows me to point out that this guy is a bigot. Anyone care to argue that point?

This whole 'respect me and my values' thing which becomes such a loud voice speaking about the valuable lives of others who actually have no problem respecting them or their values in the first place. Of course, the centuries of religiosity as a contextual support system for condemnation of our human diversity, continues to provide a false sense of superiority out of a majority, (which ignites the 'Thug' - bashing behavior so enjoyed by many). Keep on moving Forward - Those who continue to work hard creating a world which celebrates the Human Family, respectful of all Families and Diversity bring forth a better tomorrow for all. Religion does not provide the 'right' to believe you are a superior human, in any way, it provides a path, out of a choice you've made to walk and live your life. Respect is a multiple interactive concept, and practice, and quite easy when everyone simply respects our differences given we are all truly Equal. Religion is a Choice. Not a Right of Imposition.
