Alma’s music was my opening to the world of classical music. 7 years in, I am still loving classical music and will continue to love it. I was accepted to Conservatory for piano which I will commence in a couple of months, and I thank her so much for the beautiful compositions she has made which inspired my young teenage self :)
I attended the first two performances in 2017 and the same in 2022. I sat in the first row at the second performance in 2022, right behind Alma and I was able to talk to her and all the members of her family at a reception after the opera. I am looking forward to seeing it again on TH-cam.
Geeeeze ! To hear this from a modern day composer is AMAZING ! You shine a light on the world in our time ALMA 💕 Thank you and keep shining your light ✨
Thank you Alma for uploading this to You Tube so that more of us can hear and see it. This first half of the opera is a joy to hear and see, the orchestration is superb, the arias excellent and there are some lovely touches eg the quote from Wagner's Die Meistersingers von Nuremburg when the King's servant announces that there will be a singing competition. Alma's music draws on the styles and techniques of the great composers of the past and yet it is also full of her own genius for melody and invention. The Royal Opera House needs to put on Alma's Cinderella as a Christmas and New Year production, encouraging families to attend together, children would love this opera if they got a chance to hear it. The Met in New York needs to do this too. They cannot ignore a genius young composer, the first composer to conduct the premiere of their own opera since Mozart himself...what a club to be in ! One critic asked Alma some years ago whether Alma's music ought in some way to reflect the dark, ugly world we live in today. Alma's answer, given when she was about 12 years old, was that if the world was really so dark and ugly then why would Alma want to add to that by writing ugly, atonal music. The answer of a young genius. I do wish Leonard Bernstein were around to hear and see Alma's opera, he would have approved and would also admire Alma's work in music education eg online sessions in which young musicians around the world perform her pieces together, the beautiful piano pieces Alma has written for learners on that instrument. This is a wonderful spectacle. Looking forward to Part Two. Congratulations Alma, and I hope you and the family are enjoying life in Vienna, centre of the classical music world.
Always strike me straight into the heart when I hears "when the day falls into darkness". A beautiful performance! The musical interpretation became indeed more intricate with Alma's conducting
Just watched part one and I really love it. The music is great, the singin and acting are great and it feels like Alma has been a conductor for years already, she shows so much confidence....
It's so uplifting with all the beauty, humor and wisdom. This opera is so full of wonderful ideas which make one smile. It's new, it's beautiful, it's original ! Thank you Alma !
> Danke, Alma! Du hast uns gezeigt, dass man auch im 21. Jahrhundert noch eine "melodische" Oper schreiben kann, die sich erfrischend (und für unsere Ohren wohltuend) von all den atonalen Werken anderer Komponisten abhebt. > Thank you, Alma! You have shown us that even in the 21st century, it is still possible to write a "melodic" opera that stands out refreshingly (and soothing to our ears) from all the atonal works of other composers.
I listened the music of this opera of Alma. Then another time and another time. Three times back to back! I absolutely love the lovely overture and the finale, Oh, what can i say - Melodies in the Overture are soooo lovely with a darker shade to lead to the first act. The plot is known but Alma twisted it into a new one very well. The conversations are funny and witty. The arias are very well and well sung. A few second of La Traviata is very well inserted. The chorale part in the finale is as serious and light and the finale is sooo grand and royal. Then I watched it. I thought I saw the orchestra's conductor but no! it's Alma herself conducts the orchestra for her own opera! It's a joy to watch her to conduct an orchestra with all her vivacity, imagination and style for her own opera ! Really, Alma's Cinderella is a full fledge opera with many lovely, elaborate melodies and arias. You can find here and there shades of great composers but melodies are so original... But of course they are Alma's own. What can I say, Alma, you absolutely shine in this opera of yours and please shine for many years to come...for you and happiness of lovers of classical music and operas.
How wonderfully generous of you Alma to allow us all to see this beautiful opera on TH-cam!. It is absolutely magnificent and touching music and singing! I am so grateful. Especially i loved it that even the ugly sisters and their mother were helped by the fairy godmother at the end. Lalalalala. We live in a universe of far too much punishment, it only breeds resentment. This Opera is a grand example of truth goodness and beauty. Thank you Alma and everybody involved in the production.
Not only is this delightful, it is brilliant on so many levels, for example Alma's witty satire on her modernist critics' denigration of her love of melody.
ALma ! That was astonishing !. Rare to see a modern day composer write Tonal music with a gift for melody, and a deep understanding of human nature. The pianissimo beginning just set the scene for me , with the gently transition between key changes and the violin solo I loved in "note after note". Brilliant understanding of the instruments . SO many good moments that stand out. If I didn't know I would have said it was written by a great composer. THIS is far better than the musical versions I have heard, and much more gently on the ears than Prokofiev's piece and this speaks to the whole of humanity. It's a job very well done, and I hope , and you should be very proud. Let alone that you were conducting and directing , if I had not seen it here on TH-cam here, I would not have believed it. I also write music and recently wrote a "Cinderella Waltz" , but it cannot compete with work at all. PLEASE do not lose your gift for melody, Mozart Said " Melody is the essence of music" and I believe that and follow that to the letter. I look forward to following your career . I would go as far to say you are Mozart reborn . I really have never in almost 50 years have come across anyone as gifted as yourself , and you are just getting started.
Dear Alma, you wrote that opera not only about the Cinderella story but about your own dreams become true! That is story about hard working very talented girl who was hoping bring to this ugly world something nice and beautiful, and she (you!) did it perfectly well done!! Bravo!! Thank you 😊!
Epic beautiful writing and great good camera work by camera people and bravo too all actor/actresses. Alma you are the best my fav opera/classical composer ever.
First class production of a wonderful opera. The timely reference to La Traviata cracked me up. Hope this opera will be become a staple of the repertoire.
Thanks again for this marvelous performance as well as for the interesting and kind chat. ALSO thanks for finally "putting me over the edge" to experiance Alma live late September in Vienna. I consider the ticket a true treasure !

A gift I could never have imagined-- a Mozart for our own age. But she is not Mozart; she is 100% her own. Brava Alma!
Not Mozart, but as gifted as Mozart! 😉
@@luc5798 probably more gifted.
Alma said in one of her old interviews that she is Alma, not Mozart. She is as witty as talented. Love her ❤
She's absolutely the first and only of her kind

Cinderella's voice is breathtaking. Brings me to tears... and her facial expressions too. Beautiful composition Alma!

Alma has transformed a cliqued and frankly silly fairy tale into a thrilling work of passion, drama, heart, and humor
I can listen to that overture over and over. It is an amazing piece all in itself. ❤
Brilliant from the first note. As enjoyable online as it was in person.

I love all the changes she has made since the original San Jose version; it is even richer and fuller...

Love her music ! I noticed something I hadn't before. Her arms look very strong. I suppose conducting is very good exercise. She's very graceful.
@Davidfryer Perhaps playing piano and violin may have also have strengthened her arms.
@@malcolmdale yes.
