Shai Gilgeous Alexander is one of the best guards in the league. His incredible offensive output combined with his elite defence has elevated OKC near the top of the West standings. Along with that, SGA has gotten several endorsements for MVP. Some current and former players saw this coming but most seemed to be in awe at the leaps SGA has taken over the recent years. However, there are a few dissenters in the mix who believe SGA gets more credit than he deserves. But greatness usually comes with haters so SGA must be used to the hate as he’s continued to take his game to the next level each year.

All Gilbert talks about is offense
Doncic is amazing and he makes more effort on defence now(not hard as he was pretty lazy before) but SGA has been elite defensively.
His defense separates him from Luka
He’s a great defender when it comes to gambling for steals etc. but he doesn’t guard the other teams best player whatsoever like Luka… his defense is for sure better than Luka but it isn’t some stratosphere gap….

SGA is #1 in total points for the season and number one in steals. Depending on the day his points per game average is at the top as well.
Stats aside.. he elevates his team on and off the court.. he rarely complains to refs and has never gotten T’d up for an attitude (looking at you Luka).. and lastly he plays defense/position-less basketball because that’s the Thunder culture.
I watched every Mavs game for the last two seasons and I will say Luka has improved on his pace, defense, and occasionally attitude. But Shai has been professional and a leader from day one which is why he deserves recognition (maybe even MVP).

In my humble opinion I see Shai & Luka as the two best guards in the NBA. And who's better between the two,well they're both 1 & 2 in scoring. On defense I give the nod to Shai,the Thunder are the #2 seed & Mavs the #7 seed. In a close debate I'd go with - - - - Shai🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀

SGA over Luka all day. Luka cries around to much, and doesn't play defense. Shai makes his team better and Luka is more of a one man show. I think Luka should be a number 2 guy honestly. He doesn't seem like much of a leader. ⛈️💙💪

Luka is great, but Shai is ahead in EVERY advanced metric
But who is carrying their team to a play-in and who is carrying their team (2nd youngest in the league) to the #2 spot in the west and third best record in the NBA 54 games in? Luka had to go get a couple more players to try and break out of the play-in bracket.
We already have awards for “best stats”. The MVP is not the best stats award. These professional athletes should know better.
Hey Shannon sharpe. A fat stat sheet without W’s means nothing. Also an important stat left out was that SGA leads the L in steals. SGA is a 2 way beast whereas Luka is a sieve on D. Also just look at the last FIBA tournament SGA outplayed and knocked out both Slovenia and the USA

SGA plays superior defense to Luka. He's just as unstoppable as Luka on offense. And SGA appears to be loved by his teammates -- unlike Luka.

Anthony Edwards cries about not getting enough calls himself, yet he takes the 13th most free throws per game, he averages a foul less a game 😂
They only got called for 2 more fouls than OKC in that game 😂
Shai is better than Ant all around
Shai over Luka. More points assist rebounds matters but most important thing with superstar player is not only scoring but doing so efficiently and Shai is way better there. Second most important thing when you are dealing with superstar players is defense,again Shai wins there. When you play both end and can score tons efficiently, much easier finding the assist and rebounding guys to help you. I mean, Luka is kind of like another over rated triple double machine before him in Russel Westbrook when you really think about it.
SGA is better than Trae Young and Brunson. Only Luka was better in the 2018 draft.
he's one of the REFEREES FAVORITE 🤣, SGA and Embiid are the 2 babies of REFEREES, they'll call fouls if you slightly touch them
He a guard that averaged 30+ ppg off driving to the paint and shooting midrange. You think he won’t get fouled?
