I generally believe the interest in spec series is indicative of the health of the sportscar racing industry. Having a full field for this in addition to MX5 cup and Porsche cup shows how much money is out there and wants to go racing in America! Love to see it
Not only should we appreciate the customer money that wants to go racing, let’s also appreciate the efforts of the manufacturers to grasp the opportunity and provide racing programs to support that desire. Mazda, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes, Audi, Aston Martin, MINI, BMW, VW, Honda, Chevrolet, Ford, Lotus, Toyota, Cadillac, Hyundai, Subaru, Alpine, Jaguar, Bentley, Cupra and all of the rally marques, the Aussie brands, and all of the others I’ve missed provide incredible variety and competition. Anyone want to start the sponsor commitment appreciation thread?
@@ikaros4203maybe the metaphor was a touch too subjective but they do sound nice. I prefer the 5s (owner here) and I can live with the angry hornets exhaust note but (speaking as a UK resident where diesel prevails) you can’t beat the noise of a V8 (unless you throw in V10s and 12s).
I am so happy to find out about this series just now. I have been a diehard IMSA fan since before it was IMSA but can’t say I’ve ever considered myself a Mustang fan. I really think Ford made an absolute gem with this car though. This is the pony car swan song. And we get to see 20 of them battling it out on the circuit.
Nice coverage by the commentator ,giving us lap times for fastest lap. It`s amazing that they omit this information in some series.Glad the IMSA will broadcast for YT.
nice to see a car a commute with on the track racing, well done Ford Performance..... okay okay its only a GT not GT3, I tip my hat to you guys from Ontario
Mad respect for the Ford Board of Directors for allowing its *CEO* to compete in competitive motor sports! (Will Ford name its racing team and models "Farley" the way Toyota uses "Gazoo"? :) )
Silly question, but why are you putting the brand on the screen along side the driver's name, considering this is a Dark Horse Mustang only formula? On a more serious note, is it just me or is the roar of 27 Ford V8s an incredibly beautiful sound?
Hopefully there's some reliability improvements as time goes on. I wonder if changing the offset of the rear wheel would reduce the rear wheel contact. Edit:either way it's good that these things are known so the can be fixed on and off track.
I’m glad no crowds were harmed in this race. EDIT: I’m only 10m in and there are so many cars with suspension damage from minimal contact. Are these cars’ suspension components made of swiss cheese?
oh my god!!! did you think that up all by yourself? oh my god!!!! you are so original!!! you have a real future in comedy!!! im just in total shock by such an original funny comment that no one as ever said before!!!! oh jesus!!! i cant stop laughing!! youre so clever!!!!!
All those former Miata Cup drivers, in a spec series again, but the racing just isn't as compelling. I guess that, in the low-HP Mazdas, any disparity in speed among the top guys is erased on the straights. Here, it shows. The cars are too slippery to use aero for a big advantage.
Fords really lost their way, not with performance but styling. These new mustangs just aren't good looking at all and a lot of people that say they look good are lying to themselves
*I'm SOOOOOOO grateful to Ford and IMSA for bringing this back. THANK YOU!* 😎

Thanks once again IMSA for posting all the races on TH-cam, let’s me get my racing fix all week!
proper racing
Amen!
We need this car in iRacing!!
For Real, Looks like it would be fun to drive
just came out in ACC and I love it.
This is going to be a great racing series!!
Love to see these new mustangs going full send on track. Awesome event!!
It's like MX5's but with proper sound. Love it.
IMO its nothing like MX5, theres no bump drafting and weighs 1000 pound more...

@@g00dl00kinb0idon’t get me wrong, I love the 5 (my car of choice in iRacing) but I do love a V8 soundtrack.
This is awesome! I love it! Come race in the UK!!
Thank you for this upload

Awesome. Didn't know about this.
Same. So glad this came up on my subscriptions.
So glad to see a Mustang series again. This is going to be so fun to keep up with!

Fun series, love spec series like this and mx5 cup
Mustang Challenge? IMSA is the greatest racing series ever.
Fun Fact: if you double tap a comment, it automatically gives a Thumbs Up/Like
😂thinks for da info
I see what you did there, 😏
Tap tap.
Liar liar pants on fire
Good to see some real classic style racing back in IMSA
These cars look SOOOOOO GOODDD, loving it!
Slightly interesting audio John. Bit of clipping going on.
A bit? XD
Not an american car fan but the new Mustangs look great! as well as Chevrolets designs getting better
I love spec series racing and Mustangs. Therefore, I love this series. And they're racing with manual gearboxes? Even cooler.
Tears in my eyes... 🥹🥹🥹
FORD RACING & IMSA, First On Race Day! 🥳🏆🎉💪
That move at 5 minutes to go was insane. Great racing.
I'm watching this purely for the sound. Merica!!!
Car goes Brrrrrrr!
I can’t wait to see one of my favorite cars to win a race
nice to see a car a commute with on the track racing, well done Ford Performance..... okay okay its only a GT not GT3, I tip my hat to you guys from Ontario
Plesently surprised to find this series and see that its actually competitive
The sound ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤….. Head phones on.. Just need to smell the fumes😅😅
Go FORD my favorite brand!!!!
Excellent!
Mad respect for the Ford Board of Directors for allowing its *CEO* to compete in competitive motor sports! (Will Ford name its racing team and models "Farley" the way Toyota uses "Gazoo"? :) )
That sounds glorious lmao
We already desperately need this for Iracing, and Assetto Corsa!!
Sweet 👍
Hey yall is there way to see an entry list of all the car numbers and drivers? Also I want to see the current point standings 👊🏻
These cars do have a bit of the 96' curves to them. And yes, if Carrera produces that chromed out mustang in 1/32 scale it's a definite buy.
Silly question, but why are you putting the brand on the screen along side the driver's name, considering this is a Dark Horse Mustang only formula? On a more serious note, is it just me or is the roar of 27 Ford V8s an incredibly beautiful sound?
It's just extra marketing is all
“Zoey”, “Chloe” … Joey … Whatever.
Hindaugh will always find a away to express his never-ending confusions.
I enjoy watching races where the cars look like something you can buy at a dealership. NASCAR used to be like that decades ago. Now it is all decals.
good video👍

All ford needs now is an LMDh program and their motorsport ladder for drivers is complete.
They’re looking into it, but most likely won’t compete due to them focusing on their GT3 program.
That'd be hilarious if ford put Lincoln into lmd and kept ford on gt3, much like chevh
Nice!
What spec/trim are these Mustangs? Dark Horses I'm guessing?
The Dark Horse R is $145k, but how much does it cost to run a Mustang Challenge season?
for me tere was no sound on the live
Yeh no sound for the first 10 ish minutes
Anybody know the laptop for these things?
! min 31 sec fast lap.
@@tedzehnder961 interesting mxcup cars wer 1:34 decent difference
We need these cars on Gran Turismo 7

Those are stock parts a ford dealer has for sale. Not made for a contact sport.
@@tedzehnder961 That makes a ton of sense. Thanks.
Bout time there’s enough Miata guys moving up and Porsche guys moving down
Are these like gt4s? Or Gt2s?
These are like stock cars with the interiors pulled out and roll bar installed.Stock parts.
@@tedzehnder961 then we def need them in iracing
will IMSA ever bring back the Dodge Viper drivers challenge?
Dodge hasn't manufactured the Viper for almost 8 years. so, thats big obvious no.
@@oliverdurgen5953 you may want to look up 2022 dodge viper and rethink what you just told me
This is how Trans Am should be. Production cars not custom built race cars.
Seems like ford should look at the strength of the suspension arms
Having IMSA race at Detroit and not at Mid -Ohio is a crime. Learn from your mistakes IMSA..

Where's the Camaro? Oh yeah Chevrolet kill the Camaro 😂😂😂
oh boy if the pro's are having a hard time controlling this car imagen people on the street's lol.
Proper stock car racing..!
WOAH, TOO MUCH MUSTANGS!
K

That is a suspiciously large amount of broken axles and bent suspension parts. Seems like every incident had at least one broken axle.
Well it's factory suspension. Not reinforced like genuine racing parts made for contact
I really need to learn English since I can't understand a word the MC says.
audio issues in the beginning for sure, sound cutting in/out
Really cool
Now does Ford cover "normal track usage" under basic and powertrain warranty?
