Wow! as a Filipino who grew up in Canada, the comments I'm seeing here hating on Jake are surprising. It's quite jarring to see the difference in values between Eastern and Western cultures. Here in Canada, Jake would be seeing a lot of praise for his independence and representation for the LGBT community. But I guess it's much different in the Philippines where they value family and obedience..

You do realize that there are countless of other religions being practiced, right? Not everyone believes in the same God that you believe in. Try looking beyond your small confined world.
A simple Google search can answer that for you. You will find that most non-Abrahamic religions and reformed groups are accepting of homosexuality. Not to mention non-religious individuals like atheists and agnostics who are overall perfectly fine with it. Not all of them have that stated in their "Bible" because first, not every faith/belief has an established book of rules (again, you are thinking that the world revolves around your standards), and second, why is it necessary that their support of gays is written for their acceptance to be valid? Homosexuality is not discussed in many books because it was not an issue of concern to begin with. If I start claiming that your Bible does not explicitly state that it supports the use of the Internet, then, by your logic, would you stop using the Internet as it would be a sin?

It's sad how the majority of the people in the comments section would prefer Jake to lie to himself and to his family. Transitioning from one gender to another is not in anyway "immoral". A lot of cultures even consider transgender people sacred. Just because you people have your own principles, it doesn't make other people's principles and beliefs immoral and invalid. I was kinda disappointed when I was a kid that she was a lesbian. but as I grew older I came to accept that my idol is like that. but what hurts me more is that she(or he) change her/his own name. the name that the parents gave to her. it is her decision that she can change her name, but I understand the pain that her grandmother has. from her grandmother's point of view, it is painful to know that the name, one of the greatest gift that her family gave her, would be just forgotten or thrown away.
