No matter what you think of Destiny 2, you have to admit. This is one of, if not the best mission in all of gaming history. The thrill of going through the prison, all of the lore behind the characters, the reveal of the Scorn and the Barons, Cayde's death. It's all so beautiful.
I love the moment at 2:25 when cayde realises he is truly going to die, no more respawn, after all these years he finally gets to rest. Paired with the music its really one of the most beautifull and yet saddest moments in the game imo.
Even as a titan I respect his determination and unwavering belief in the cause. As cocky and badass as he was he never turned his back and ran. He fought till the very end and went down swinging. RIP Cayde 6.
Fellow titan here. I haven't taken off a Memory of Cayde mark since playing this mission, if it meant I was slightly underpowered, so be it. He may have been the hunter vanguard, but cayde fought titan as hell.
Even us titans felt the loss of Cayde, and vowed his vengeance. Any vanguard slain is to be mourned, especially someone like Cayde who never backed down all the way till the end.
I will miss Cayde. He always made my day better. He WAS the light in the dark and showed he will never give up. Goodbye Cayde and hope you can catch up with your girl and son Ace. You will be missed.
I think I’m still in denial, I think there is still a chance of finding the mind of cayde from after the first reset. He wouldn’t be the cayde we know but he still would be cayde. Cayde was the reason why I bought destiny1&2 and that’s what I wanna finish off on in hopes that Bungie finds a way of bringing him back.
That’s to Cayde I’ve noticed a change in how I play and how my lucks changed using the Ace. Not just ingame either. Played 1 card game, had the ace of spades and won the game after placing it. Any weapon, armour piece, ship, sparrow, emote and ghost shell of caydes I’ll never unequip. Never got a ‘we ran out of medals’ till I got the ace of spades. I won’t even unequip the emblem. Good luck out the hunters. I salute you. (I’m a hunter main)

@@donmest167 thats why hunters become the vanguard through a dare, no one wants to be a vanguard so they instead make a dare with eachother so that when the current vanguard dies, the one who lost the dare becomes the next vanguard.
@JORDAN LUMSDEN i doubt it, the tower seems to be very unsure about what to do, but most lore masters think that the hunter thats in rise of Iron might be next since he is a close friend to cade, also making our guardian the vanguard wouldnt work since all players have diferent clases
I remember when this happened I went on a 10 hour gaming stream fueled by nothing but anger and depression and after about 8 hours I remember telling my friend “We’ve come this far we got to finish it now” best time I had that summer
Developer1 : so we need players to play more. What should we do? Developer2 : lets kill an all loved character so they play at least 10 hours with nothing but pure anger

Watched this every day for 8 months, I go to the hanger and sit with my old clan mates then I go to the leviathan, alone.... and sit knowing that my old fireteam will never be the same after my friend quit destiny.
If you pay attention, you'll notice that the thralls are spread out just enough for Firefly to be an annoyance rather than a hindrance. Pretty much every shot Cayde lands is a 1HK that takes off their head, but out of the seventeen shots he lands there's only two times that other thralls are within the few feet of radius that the firefly blast would have, and only one of those two times (the shot at 1:00) would the blast have made a difference in the moment. It was honestly just the thralls being lucky and/or unusually smart.
Cayde never grew weaker though, he was as strong as ever in his last stand, showing no submission, even as the last bullet he heard flew through the air.
Love how this cutscene emphasizes that Guardians arent as overpowered as their game-mechanic portrays them to be. Even for a top tier Guardian, Cayde still dies to a bunch of Scorn, the named boss scorns dont count as they dont really participate that much other than finish off. It really goes to show even for Cayde who got headshots non-stop still could die. The only reason why other NPCs aren’t dead is because their in the tower never going out. Idk bout you, but this cutscene is my fav in D2 not only because it portrays that we arnt OP, but it portrays that even the best of us could fall. But the gun fighting is phenomenal.
I’ve hardly played the original destiny, but to me, Cayde-6 is one of those characters that everybody loved. So when I picked up Destiny 2 and read some stuff on him, damn, did it hit hard. I’m also pretty positive it hit a huge amount of players harder than expected. Cayde wasn’t just a soldier, or a friend to all… he was a hero, a legend, an icon to this game and its fans, and we had him torn from us in the worst way possible. If there’s one thing I’ll finish off with it’s this: He is gone, but god damn, he will never, EVER, be forgotten.

The moment my hunter started walking down the stairs and said, "Uldren Sov is mine." I felt that on such a personal level. I gripped my controller tightly with tears still in my eyes, pulled up my hood and proceeded to stomp the life from every enemy that crossed my path. No mercy, the thought of justice non-existent. Just dark, cold-hearted soul reaping vengeance. #RIPbrother.

Even as someone who has played next to no destiny I have to give props to this. Being able to bring out emotions in someone who doesnt know context and has no sentimental attachment to a character is truly impressive. Maybe this is a little over the top, But cayde was such a character and a cool exo i got a little tattoo to commemorate him. A black ace with a 6 inside of it on my trigger finger near the knuckle
I would have given my light to save cayde, such an honourable gaurdian, always putting smiles on faces yet being the first to enter and the last to leave the field. A fallen solider is never a forget one.

And my screams get worse when I see this clip or the moment he dies, he and his ghost have caused me so much grief, I barely have the energy to get up from my bed, (I promise I’m not suicidal, this is just I feel)

It’s sad to see the Forsaken campaign go away after The Witch Queen release. Future New Lights will never know who Cayde was or why he was so special to us. We had a good run. Rest well, fellow Hunter.

If you pay attention, you'll notice that the thralls are spread out just enough for Firefly to be an annoyance rather than a hindrance. Pretty much every shot Cayde lands is a 1HK that takes off their head, but out of the seventeen shots he lands there's only two times that other thralls are within the few feet of radius that the firefly blast would have, and only one of those two times (the shot at 1:00) would the blast have made a difference in the moment. It was honestly just the thralls being lucky and/or unusually smart.

I love these types of videos about last stands and how you can see their efforts slowly going from useful to pointless as they grow weaker 💪✨
Cayde never grew weaker though, he was as strong as ever in his last stand, showing no submission, even as the last bullet he heard flew through the air.
What a fight scene 👏 this got me sad . RIP guardian can't wait to see him on the final shape
Love how this cutscene emphasizes that Guardians arent as overpowered as their game-mechanic portrays them to be. Even for a top tier Guardian, Cayde still dies to a bunch of Scorn, the named boss scorns dont count as they dont really participate that much other than finish off. It really goes to show even for Cayde who got headshots non-stop still could die.
The only reason why other NPCs aren’t dead is because their in the tower never going out.
Idk bout you, but this cutscene is my fav in D2 not only because it portrays that we arnt OP, but it portrays that even the best of us could fall. But the gun fighting is phenomenal.
To be fair I think he could've had it, if his ghost go boom. So they pretty overpowered
You know a game has good character development when a comic relief character’s death is this emotional.
I’ve hardly played the original destiny, but to me, Cayde-6 is one of those characters that everybody loved. So when I picked up Destiny 2 and read some stuff on him, damn, did it hit hard. I’m also pretty positive it hit a huge amount of players harder than expected. Cayde wasn’t just a soldier, or a friend to all… he was a hero, a legend, an icon to this game and its fans, and we had him torn from us in the worst way possible.
If there’s one thing I’ll finish off with it’s this: He is gone, but god damn, he will never, EVER, be forgotten.
Started the game knowing absolutely nothing, played this mission, fell in love with Cayde’s character and then he dies all in the same mission

The moment my hunter started walking down the stairs and said, "Uldren Sov is mine." I felt that on such a personal level. I gripped my controller tightly with tears still in my eyes, pulled up my hood and proceeded to stomp the life from every enemy that crossed my path. No mercy, the thought of justice non-existent. Just dark, cold-hearted soul reaping vengeance. #RIPbrother.
