I'm an artist who is trying to get a stronger command at drawing lines with a brush. You're incredibly talented at this. I'm sure it's a gift and a lot of work.
Glad you like that Mars Graphic 3000 gotta admit I tried it and hated it! I use the Tombo Brush pen, but this pen is magical in your hands! Of course I know it's the artist, not the marker....
No way:) The Mars is the best so far. It's one step up in quality compared to the Copic brush marker. I don't know many who use the Prismacolor markers. The Mars is the hardest to tame but the most flexible and it can give you hairline lines.
Very nice. You notice, class, that first he did a light sketch, probably with a 4H pencil. Then a heavy black pencil. Then a magic marker with a brush tip. I have to ask: instead of the heavy black pencil, why not use a black grease pencil?
If the pencil looks good then that may be a sign that you need a new "inking tool" or maybe just need some more practice with it (the pen). You might want to just try using nothing but pencil though. Start off with a light sketch then more darker so it has a "Jan Op De Beeck" sketch style.
I don't but if you get involved with caricature (.org) you sure to find a lot of great info and maybe come to a conference? I will be starting a new channel her soon with just teaching.

+John Raymond It's a cartoon of her. If you stop the vid when she shows up and then go back a bit to the drawing in its final stage you can see he went easy on her nose. It's there in the drawing but he kept the edge line very light. I think it's a good example of keeping it flattering. It does look like her.

I use a graphite lead stick. Local art stores carry them:)

Yes, it's a graphite lead stick. Just a pencil without the wood:)
do you think Prismacolors brush markers would match the quality and performance of the staudtler brush markers?

what did you use in the beginning, is that just an ordinary HB pencil for the outline?
What type of eraser are you using? it appears that it's no fuss like most erasers.
I think it was a clay eraser they are pretty good to use when drawing.
