- Idk why I got so emotional this episode. The conversations between King Ecbert and Ragnar are some of my favorite conversations in any tv show ever. Such good chemistry between them. Super complex characters as well, King Ecbert is just really intriguing to me idk. Let me know what you guys thought down below, Episode 15 is coming tomorrow in two parts :) Also just a heads up, this upcoming week is my last week of school so I have finals I gotta prepare for. Might be a little difficult to do daily uploads but I will definitely try for y'all!

Yeah this episode is another one thats hard to watch. I'm sure you have filmed a few episodes in front, so you know whats to come.. But going back watching this episode, it has more of a impact than the first time you watch it... All the scenes, all the dialogue between Ragnar of Ecbert is so powerful! I love the conversation about the afterlife lol it's so good..
It's amazing to think that this show is written by just one man... Michael Hirst...
& in case no one has said this yet, the actresses who play Helga & Torvi are both his Daughters! crazy lol

I'm bingewatching complete seasons from Nicole atm, so i usually don't comment, but this has to be the first one. This episode for me has to be one of the best of the entire show! The Ragnar/Ecbert scene is just amazing and gives you so much emotion. Shoutout to Sithfurion for giving you a shoutout, it's a great journey so far!
I've watched both you and SithFurions reactions to Vikings from S1 to S5, then rewatched the whole show on my own again. I can't get enough Vikings! I just don't know anyone who also watches, so you guys are my friends right now hahha
The conversation between King Ecbert and Ragnar is one of the top 3 scenes of the show up to this point. A funny drunken conversation about religion, that ends up being emotional and deep

In the last episode of the first season, when Ragnar was in Götaland with Aslaug, the seer told Lagertha that Ragnar was under attack from the magical world. As proven when she killed Kalf, Lagertha plays the long game.
What was done to Rollo is called: Keel hauling. It was a punishment just short of execution and survived in navies til very recently. The punished gets shredded by the barnacles on the hull. Eckbert and Ragnar are my faves as well, but I put them in reverse order as Eckbert's vision was for his country, Ragnar's was more of a personal journey

My interpretation (and I have no idea if it's the intention, it just sort of makes sense to me) of what they did last episode to Rollo has always been that it was a test, leaving it up to the gods and fate. That's why Rollo immediately laughs as he recovers, not just because he survived their punishment or whatever, but rather because he passed the test that essentially says there's more for him to do yet.
imagine caring if ass-log died ...she literally laughed at Bjorns daughters death ...and lagartha always says she never forgets and always keeps her promise ..she literally killed calf on their their wedding day lol...but the reason she waited was because ausslog was the queen and had more warriors lagartha was building up her army

it's not caring if aslaug died or not. Clearly you're not that smart. She literally have said she never liked aslaug. She said, which is true, that it's out of character of lagertha to suddenly say she was a witch, and ragnar was bewitched. When they established before she didn't think what way, but apparently she couldn't accept her husband cheated on her and wanted to blame everything on aslaug, not ragnar.

Both Travis and Linus done such a great job in this episode. Loved their interactions and this is easily one of the best episodes.
Next episode is tough. But don’t worry, the show is still as good.

Have to admit i had a little giggle when you has to pause it to stop crying then when you restarted he met Athelstan's son and i was like LOL instant tears again :P
I don't think Lagertha kill Aslaug for power, but for the same reason Floki killed Athelstan she was jealous. If she just wanted power she had it when Aslaug was walking away but the arrow in the back that was just petty revenge.
I also cannot understate my love for that entire scene between Ragnar and Ecbert it was humorous, sad, deep, and thought provoking. Truly great acting and writing.
This episode and the next one made me cry. I never cried before watching a show or movie. Very powerful dialogues in this episode.

This is my favourite conversation ever put onto screen.
I have to admit. I know Linus Roache for along time and i never cared much about his work, but seeing him on vikings is mindblowing. His perfermance as Ecbert is ALWAYS on point. He became one of my favorite actors.

I could legit watch an entire film with Travis and Linus just sitting in a room talking. They are both superb actors who really push this show ahead of its competitors on the acting front. I've seen this episode many, many times and their interaction never gets old and always manages to get me emotional. Big props to them both and the writing for their scenes.
Next episode is gonna be rough. For all of us, I think. Can't wait.

As much as I hated Aslaug, I don't think it was neccessary to put an arrow in her back. She already surrendered and was willing to leave. I have mixed feelings about that.

Am I the only one who thought assslug got exactly what she deserved? I can see your pov in almost everything else, but I cheered when lagertha took her down. I love the actress who plays auslog, but her character was vindictive, sly and malicious... karma should have its roots in norse mythology:) I get why people dont like what lagertha did, but I admit, I loved it. Agree, i cheered to . Aslaug started to humiliate Lagertha in front of everyone, then she tossed the sord of kings in the mud,a show of total disrespect. She got what she deserved.
Who cares what Aslaug deserved? What Lagertha did was start a war between the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok, causing countless deaths just so she felt some sort of accomplishment by killing an Aslaug who was going to give her the kingdom of Kattegat anyway. Lmao, the reprucussions of this action is still going on In the newest season of the show

I also cried for same scenes as you...one of the best season from Vikings! When I was 20 to 24 year old three of my friends who I was seeing daily died for different reasons so I can really understand Ragnars mind...and actually I can also relate to Ragnars addiction...for me, this actually IS the best season! "Born again" episode is also in top3..everytime it's making me cry when Ragnar is burying Athelstan and saying goodbyes for his best friend...Travis Fimmel is the best!!!

Fantastic reaction. Emotionally, I think a lot of people are right there along with you. For me, the conversation between Ragnar and Eckbert about Gods and Athelstan is one of the greatest moments in television. In fact, it extends to the moment where they're sitting on the throne together with Judith comes in, and Ragnar hugs Alfred.
Ragnar is in England because he hopes to reach heaven so he can be re-united with Athlestan. Ecbert destrióyed the Viking settlement. The revenge from Ragnars sons, is ragnars way to revenge the settlement.

Honestly others are actually a biiit annoying- they have nothing smart to say, their videos are waaay too long and yeah..they just talk some stupid stuff example when Ragnar was saying goodbyes for Lagertha & others, one channel was like: "why is he doing this?...ah- he must to want something from them!!"...it was so gringe to watch those channels so I was lucky to found your channel instead! Most people are losing sight of WHY Lagertha is doing what she is doing. Killing Aslaug sends a messege of "Don't F--K With ME". Which is very important if she is to truly rule Kattaget (which is a Kingdom by now). Aslaug "bewitched" Ragnar and stole him from Lagertha. She is also responsible for Lagertha's granddaugter's death, Siggy. Finally Aslaug has been ruling in Kattaget for YEARS and doesn't seem to be doing a good job... Vikings 101, "You do NOT let your enemies walk away, only to plot & attack you again".
5:16 FINALLY someone with logic thinking. Everyone ignores how out of character and stupid that was just because they love lagertha and don't like/hate aslaug.
Carly, I know this is a little late and you might not read it but I didn't want to leave it in your newer reactions. In their amazing conversation scene do you think Ecbert was really drunk or was he drinking water the whole time putting on an act? A couple episodes later we see the drinking lesson Ecbert teaches Alfred. I know they were different lessons but you get the idea.

It's worth mentioning that a large amount of people including me believe that Magnus may yet be Ragnar's son....And Ragnar lied to protect him and who knows he ends up coming back all grown up at some point and maybe super successful and powerful...I mean I'm still trying to find a real reason why his mother would have lied about it. And it's likely that Ragnar knew Ecbert would use Magnus as leverage against Ragnar's other sons in the aftermath if he admitted that he was his son...So IDK, Ragnar didn't deny it right there in front of Bjorn when he invoked the subject...So it's a very gray area
Love Ragnar but I think I like Ivar even better... As the show goes on that kid just keeps getting better and better, props to the actor who plays him for the amazing job so far! Love your reactions since I get to rewatch older episodes and hearing your thoughts on the show is really cool cause I remember what I was thinking when I was first watching older seasons haha, keep up the great content :)

Cunning disguised as friendship, yes both Kings respect each other but the benefits of their kingdoms come first. I felt that Ragnar is using King Ecbert emotions against him by seeming weak and powerless.

I was starting to dislike Lagertha a bit more every episode, and after this episode and what she did + the obvious consequences that comes with, i hated him since then, she acted like a selfish girl, and her purpose, her excuses sounded wrong in my ear

This was a great episode, it show the tipe of relation Ragnar and Ecbert had. The dialogue was pure gold

In life life pretty much everything is influenced by external conditions and not by how smart you are. Ragnar's plan is what it is. He want's to die so he figured the perfect strategy to get it all.
I liked Auslaug's death. I don't even like Lagertha but it was the right thing to do from her perspective....she didn't act sooner because Ragnar.
What a stupid sentence of Ragnar's "Happiness is nothing". And there was no logic in the killing of Aslaug by Lagertha after Aslaug surrendered to her and gave her her blessing. And in general, I did not like this dark episode at all. It is one of the most terrible episodes in the history of this series.
The episode Lagertha lost all credibility and character development in my opinion such a pity
