Stellars Jay. Since 60's in Palomar mountain they never fail to surprise me with their curiosity and beauty. I learned to make sure to clean house so to speak at base camp before heading out. They will clean everything that you leave behind.
Nice hike... Jenks Lake is a cool little lake. It's perfect for teaching kids how to fish. Great food topped off with a great beverage. Thank you for sharing, take care Jason.
@@HuckOutdoors never been. Is it 7 Oaks Deli? If so, looks Jake and I will be down that way in the next few weeks to hit Santiago Peak. We'll give it a try then.
Huck Outdoors while back, I spoke with the couple who runs the day use area. They mentioned the Russian milfoil dies off during the winter then starts to come back late spring. Takes over the lake by mid June. I’ve been out on my kayak and PK7. The deeper areas of the lake are clear from about 18’ to the deepest parts 25’.

Nice, been curious about that trail. Stayed at Angelus Oaks a few weeks ago but didn’t make it to Jenks. I’m pretty sure helicopters were dunking water for the Apple Fire anyway, saw them on the way in.
Thank you! I’m praying for your city and everyone affected by the el dorado fires. I’m in sugarloaf and we are on alert. Thank you for all the videos, very inspiring and informative! 🙏🏽❤️
What? No smoke? It's pretty funny that the only way I can get away from California Fire Smoke in Northern Nevada is to come to California. Now cut it out you guys. Put your dang fires out. We're getting pretty sick of it up here.

Sneaky little birds!
Caught many trout there!!
Me too! Some great days of fishing in years past.
I really liked how this video was filmed, hearing all the sounds of nature and your shoes crunching the ground. Nice looking hike and lake.
Thank you very much!

Jenks Lake has such a great feel to it. Makes you feel like you're at home there.
Nice way to spend a day. Hiking and fishing. Really beautiful scenery for fishing too 👍👍
Luckily it's only about a 25 min drive from home.
Huck Outdoors nice
There's no place like home! Looks like a great place for a day hike. And fishing at the end...perfect!
Perfect day out there that ended with a good burger at 7 oaks!

Great hike for the kids!
Wow, Jenk's is really overgrown compared to earlier in the summer! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah it is really bad with weeds this year.

Funny how I have fished that lake hundreds of times, and never took the trail till that day!
Great video! I like the mama duck and mama jay, looking out for the kids! LOL. Jenks Lake is beautiful! Thanks again, Jack -- Dallas TX
It was great seeing the mama birds out there.
looks like a really peaceful afternoon! One of these days I've gotta learn how to fish. Always see them jumping in the lakes up here.

👍
😉
Funny, i have been looking at heading here in a few weeks.
Good luck fishing!
Your a better fisherman then I am, the last two trips I took my son we got skunked.
Oh no! The best way to fix those skunks is time on the water.
Holy smokes your almost at 7k subs hip hip!!!

Spotted the Tenkara rod right away! What type fly were you using? Watched with Chrome in 4K on IPS 240Hz monitor, very crispy 👍
Think it was just a a little bead head nymph.
What a nice way to spend the day. Jealous...I was recording basketball games all weekend. Sigh...
It was the perfect quick getaway.
Isn’t jenks closed for the season already?
This was filmed when the day use facilities were open. You can still hike to the lake now after the facilities closed down.
What is the road that the trail is off of? Also what was the name of the travel rod you had?
Highway 38. That is a Tenkara USA Sierra Rod.

Last weekend I was in Mammoth lakes and on the way home we had so much smoke you could barely see the Sierra from 395.
