put my entire weight, knees on the panel, entire body lifted off the floor, balancing on the palms of my hands like a yoga practitioner, 52kg, still not aligned :'( this guy makes it look like magic :D amazing
I found out the hard way that it's critical to start with the panel labelled with the "1" after wasting a lot of time, effort, and bad language with a 2x2 bookcase. The difference from the similar panel is the depth of the backpanel groove. The "1" panel has a much deeper groove than the other panel. When assembled incorrectly, it's impossible to attach the fourth panel. The deeper groove allows the backpanel to slide out of the way when the whole bookcase is inverted. Once I re-assembled the package in the correct order, the fourth panel attached relatively easily. I went from cursing the Ikea designers and engineers to admiring their ingenuity. (PS - I watched another TH-cam video where the guy actually trimmed the backpanel to fit. My guess is that he did not start with the "1" panel.)
I'm pretty sure one of the boxes didn't have the "1" marked on the panel, but it worked out ok. Yeah, I agree, you have to look at the instruction pictures carefully because it's pretty easy to overlook a small detail that makes a big difference! IKEA does a really good job of engineering their furniture. Thanks for your feedback!
Well Jack, The "1" Panel for me was not so identifiable, hence I walked into the same booby trap (& consequently found the backplate impossible to attach). I reversed the assembly sequence as you suggested....but can you guess my next banana skin I slipped up on???...after having re-assembled the sides with panel "1".... I forgot the "step" again to invert the entire carcass & have now screwed the freestanding legs to the top side ....hahahaha! :). The "Mr. Bean" textless instructions are still not idiot-proof enough yet.
Ha ha, the manual tricked me to.. I could see that it was just not fitting, so I googled and found this video. Then I went back to the drawel and looked at that "1".. and thought ..hmmm. :-_P
You sir just saved me so much frustration. Was about to swear off cheap ikea products and go out in the yard with a sledgehammer and smash this into a million pieces. The wife is much happier now that she has her very own shelves to put things in. lol
I made a media wall unit combination out of the eket units and I am completely happy. The Eket is a upgraded version of the Kallax series guys as it’s a bit more pricey due to it having heavier better materials and a better finish. There are more options than kallax has with push to open automatic drawers and doors etc. eket is more focused on storage and display purposes with completely closed backs so if u want to house any electronics you will have to cut out a space to run cords through. I highly recommend eket over kallax for quality and customization
2 problems with that. 1 - With the stuff on kijiji or Craigslist or whatever, you're limited on what's available, not the items and/or colors you're looking for and, 2 - The stuff in the "as is" section is very limited in selection as well AND usually missing parts, damaged from incorrect assembly and difficult to load into a vehicle if it's a larger item.
Thanks. Excellent video. I like the color you selected. I purchased two in gray to store my vinyl records. I also purchased two of the smaller cubes for CD’s and DVD’s/Blu-rays.
Hello Joey! Thank you so much for your well informational video. I built the small cabinet today, however, one door is shafting and is slightly lower than the other one. I cannot seem to find what is wrong or how to fix it? Thanks again for all your help! Jennifer
The 1-panel is at least different in the regard of the little cut-in for the backside wall you later insert. You need this little extra room the backside wall can temporarily occupy to put the fourth panel in.
I had such a hard time getting the sides to fit together. I put a folded wash cloth over the corners and hammered them together lol. It worked, no damage.
I've assembled a two-piece model (one on top of the other). I still can't believe that the two are connected through simple metal plaques only on the back. This means that if you lift the furniture from the top, you are breaking it apart. Did I miss any important step by any chance? I checked and double checked the manual and I'm pretty sure I did what I was supposed to. Thanks!
I got one cabinet with 1 door and one cabinet box on top, they gave me those metal things to stack but say if I tip it back a little it kinda comes up even though those screws in the back hold it, I wish it would not move unless I put 2 screws to hold the front part down together. I don’t wanna screw it to the wall either
I found it’s much much easier to get the panels to lock together if you lift up on one while pushing down the other, instead of keeping it flat. I can’t get the dang doors in the 2x2 Cabinet to line up evenly though. The tabs, like goggles, do nothing!
I was going to try one of these as it's the ideal size for my folded Brompton bicycle. I looked at the IKEA store online (UK) and thought I'd check out the reviews. Judging by the comments from people who are experienced in assembling IKEA furniture this design can be a real nightmare to assemble so I'll give it a miss for now. Perhaps they will modify the design.
hi, those pieces from 4:29, do i need them at all if i'm not drilling the boxes to the wall? the besta series also have them but i'm not sure what they do. the 8mm drill that is required i don't have and the bits that i bought don't fit my drill so it's proving to be a real headache this part. thanks.
I put a piece of wood on top of the pushable (?) piece and smashed the wood with hammer. The piece got into place and wasn't damaged by hammer thanks to the protective wood
@@vanillacoke4517 I bought a rubber mallet yesterday. If that doesn’t work I’ll try this message next I have a piece of wood that was getting ready to throw out anyway
Did you make sure you used the 1-panel correctly? I have assambled a couple of these over the last couple of days with a bunch of friends, and litereally every time someone struggled with the fourth wall, it later turned out they had used the 1-panel where it didn't belong :)
Hi, does anyone have a tip to fix an uncorrecty positioned pushbutton? Everything was ok until I moved the cupboard ... since then the doors are no longer aligned and the pushbuttons do no longer work.
They seem pretty sturdy within reason. I've got 2 side by side on the floor with the double door cabinet on top filled with tools and bike parts, then two more of the cubes on top of that. I'd say there's easily 50lbs of weight on top of the two bottom cubes, and even with that, it feels sturdy and stable. Oh yeah, I've got books and camera equipment in the two bottom cubes as well. Thanks for your question!
Yes, Ikea sells a little set of clips that clamp the units together. I just stacked them on top of each other, and that worked fine for me. If there are small children or pets that may try to climb on the boxes, I'd definitely recommend the clips and the fasteners to secure the units to the wall as well.
This thing is a pain to put together. You supposed to push them down to lock them but even if you hammer it, it's difficult to get them to line up. No wonder they gonna discontinue this eket
This is possibly the worst design I've ever seen. I have ruined two of the cubes trying to put them together and am going to return the ones I haven't ruined. You need some excessive strength to put the pieces together and nothing I tried could get the fourth side to seat correctly. I have a house full of Ikea pieces (that I assembled by myself) but this one is impossible.
Yeah, there's a lot of different cabinets/storage units under the EKET models. These two pieces are just a small taste, but thanks for commenting, I appreciate it!
I get that Ikea is in so many countries that it would be a nightmare to provide step by step instructions however; this current BS isn’t working. At least number the steps clearly so that it’s idiot proof. Assembling of this unit took too much time out of my life and for that I’d never buy it again. Should’ve come to TH-cam first

I’m almost 190 pounds. I have pressed it, stood on it, sat on it and it won’t budge!!!!
@@AlaiaWilliamsx SO frustrating. I'm heading back to Ikea for a return,
59kg was enough with another person holding the other side of the frame so it won't tip over.

one of best videos I've seen on how to assemble these Swedish Nightmare products. most people just do videos without saying a word.
Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback, so thanks for that as well!
Just buy them off kijiji or the as is section...cheaper and already put together!

Why didn’t you attach the legs? (Low key how I wanted to see it done cause I’m scared to do it)
What is the back panel made of? Do you think I could drill a small hole through it to run an electrical wire?
Yes, I think it's like a MDF type material, but I'm about to put some holes in mine for the same reason.
My hands are literally crying trying to push one panel to the other
ugh same, my fingers too :(

Maybe if it’s on the floor ... mounting to a wall and anchoring for that weight will be challenging
