    Just finished the 2018 Classic and had a great time with wonderful memories - my thanks for your great advice earlier this year. We'll be back in Sweden in 2020 but next year the plan is for Colorado US. And UK coast to coast in early 2019.

      Sea Kayaker I’m so pleased that you enjoyed the FC2018. It’s a great walk with stunning scenery and great people. When you say you are going back to Sweden in 2020 is that for another FC or something different? The Coast to Coast walk is on my bucket list too... one day!! ATB Alister

      My Rucksack and I: 2020 will be the Classic again; the last one so that we experience it again, the second time always has a different perspective, weather, overall feel about it. And it’s worth the travel but just don’t spend any money outside of the Classic. It’s bloody expensive!! Coast to Coast for May next year, early in the season so hopefully it’ll be a little quieter. :-)

    • @MyRucksackandI
      @MyRucksackandI  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sea Kayaker fantastic plan for the next couple of years. Yes, Sweden is very expensive and I agree that you get a different feel the second time round. You spend less time worrying about where and how it will go and more time taking it all in and enjoying it. Good luck with the coast to coast, I would love to hear how it goes 👍 keep in touch. How was the weather for 2018? I heard loads of people jacked it in?

    • @seakayaker1470
      @seakayaker1470 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Between The Trees Rained hard for the first three days with strong winds and then cleared once over the pass. Around 120 people gave up with 18 Medivacs.

    Incredible video, I have never heard of the Fjallraven Classic, but certainly sounds like an even worth doing.
    We were going to do a 5 day walk in Sweden this summer but we were blessed with becoming pregnant so plans changed.

      It was certainly an event worth doing, I met a guy in his mid 70's walking it for the 6th time!! It a well organised event. Cracking news on the baby front buddy, you could take him/her with you next year..... they may be the youngest to complete it. Thank you for the support. ATB Alister

I am off out for a local wander this afternoon to stretch the legs, work the heart and lungs and maybe shoot a bit of footage :)

    Hey, great Video. I hiked from the other direction, Abisko-Hemavan this year. I took a different route via Nallo, but met the fjällräven classic people coming towards me when I entered the kungsleden in tjäktja, one day after you were there. You seem to have been somewhat lucky to have passed that section a day earlier, since the weather in the section between the tjäktja pass and sälka got a lot worse, with winds picking up even more, a lot of rain, and even some snow on the pass. I was fine, but many hikers seemed very underprepared for this weather.
    Is that the Alesjaure hut at 16:30? I was wondering, because the warden at Tjäktja was adamant about not allowing the fjällräven classic people in, due to the instructions they had been given. The entire thing seemed poorly managed on that day. What was your experience with that? I know I helped a girl up on the tjäktja pass, since she was dragging her backpack up through the mud, but did not want to turn around. I also heard of some poor Korean girl who had basically left her tent and everything and walked six kilometers to the nearest hut in Singi since she could't deal with the weather.
    Hope to see you on the trail in the next years :)

    Very enjoyable and scenic video Alister! One thing I noticed was, up until you crossed the finish line, I've never seen so many expressionless hikers. Not a single smile or comment by anyone you videoed until the end. Was that representative of the event, or just because of the relatively small proportion of time the video was of the entire 5 days? Just curious. I'll add this to my list, either way!

    • @MyRucksackandI
      @MyRucksackandI  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Douglas Hoffart hey Douglas, it was a mixed bag my friend. Some people just kept there head down and trudged on by whilst others would chat away happily. I tend to be a lone walker so maybe that reflected in the video too. I think I will return next year though 🏔 atb Alister

      Hi again mate, it really was lovely countryside. The Kings Trail actually runs for 440km. I met alot of people who werent taking part in the Classic who had spent weeks out in the wilds and hadnt seen a soul. I have booked for a 40km winter walk in Sweden in Feburary and am going to do Wainwrights Coast to Coast in June. Of course I will put videos up when I do them. ATB Alister

    • @MyRucksackandI
      @MyRucksackandI  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grenadier Outdoors thank you buddy. It was somewhere in the region of £220 for the entry fee. That covers the food, maps etc..... everything else is on top, camping before and after, flights, bus back to start point. Oh and if you need a helicopter evacuation it’s £500.... and believe me they are flying in and out all day long. Thanks for watching. ATB Alister

    • @MyRucksackandI
      @MyRucksackandI  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mohamed. There are toilet facilities at the check points along the way. You can easily find privacy, after a few hours form the start you soon find yourself alone on the trail. Dig a hole, poop, fill the hole in and burn the paper. ATB Alister

I liked the mountains but what a river th-cam.com/video/JqOYKynMpAY/w-d-xo.html The sound it produced later in that gorge reminds us of just some of the forces that shape our landscape. Amazing!
